2 Timothy 4
1 I charge thee therefore before God, and before the Lord Iesus Christ, which shall iudge the quicke and dead at that his appearing, and in his kingdome,
Je vous prescris donc, devant Dieu et devant le Seigneur Jésus-Christ, qui jugera les vivants et les morts à son avènement et dans son royaume:
2 Preach the worde: be instant, in season and out of season: improue, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
prêchez la parole; soyez pressants à temps et à contretemps; reprenez, réprimandez, exhortez, avec toute la patience et l'instruction voulues.
3 For the time will come, when they will not suffer wholesome doctrine: but hauing their eares itching, shall after their owne lustes get them an heape of teachers,
Car le temps viendra où les hommes n'écouteront pas la saine doctrine, mais où, ayant la démangeaison d'entendre, ils s'amasseront des docteurs selon leurs propres désirs,
4 And shall turne their eares from the trueth, and shalbe giuen vnto fables.
détourneront l'oreille de la vérité et se tourneront vers les fables.
5 But watch thou in all thinges: suffer aduersitie: doe the worke of an Euangelist: cause thy ministerie to be throughly liked of.
Mais vous, soyez sobres en toutes choses, souffrez des privations, faites l'œuvre d'un évangéliste, et accomplissez votre ministère.
6 For I am nowe readie to be offered, and the time of my departing is at hand.
Car je suis déjà offert, et le moment de mon départ est arrivé.
7 I haue fought a good fight, and haue finished my course: I haue kept the faith.
J'ai combattu le bon combat. J'ai achevé le parcours. J'ai gardé la foi.
8 For hence foorth is laide vp for me the crowne of righteousnesse, which the Lord the righteous iudge shall giue me at that day: and not to me onely, but vnto all them also that loue that his appearing.
Dès maintenant, je me réserve la couronne de justice que le Seigneur, le juste juge, me donnera en ce jour-là, et non seulement à moi, mais aussi à tous ceux qui ont aimé son apparition.
9 Make speede to come vnto me at once:
Soyez diligents pour venir bientôt me voir,
10 For Demas hath forsaken me, and hath embraced this present world, and is departed vnto Thessalonica. Crescens is gone to Galatia, Titus vnto Dalmatia. (aiōn g165)
car Démas m'a quitté, ayant aimé le monde présent, et il est allé à Thessalonique; Crescens, en Galatie; et Tite, en Dalmatie. (aiōn g165)
11 Onely Luke is with me. Take Marke and bring him with thee: for he is profitable vnto me to minister.
Luc seul est avec moi. Prends Marc et amène-le avec toi, car il m'est utile pour le service.
12 And Tychicus haue I sent to Ephesus.
Mais j'ai envoyé Tychique à Éphèse.
13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou commest, bring with thee, and the bookes, but specially the parchments.
Apporte à Carpus, quand tu viendras, le manteau que j'ai laissé à Troas, et les livres, surtout les parchemins.
14 Alexander the coppersmith hath done me much euill: the Lord rewarde him according to his workes.
Alexandre, le dinandier, m'a fait beaucoup de mal. Le Seigneur lui rendra selon ses actes.
15 Of whome be thou ware also: for he withstoode our preaching sore.
Méfie-toi de lui, car il s'est beaucoup opposé à nos paroles.
16 At my first answering no man assisted me, but all forsooke me: I pray God, that it may not be laide to their charge.
Lors de ma première défense, personne n'est venu me secourir, mais tous m'ont abandonné. Que cela ne leur soit pas reproché.
17 Notwithstanding the Lord assisted me, and strengthened me, that by me the preaching might be fully beleeued, and that al the Gentiles should heare: and I was deliuered out of the mouth of the lion.
Mais le Seigneur s'est tenu à mes côtés et m'a fortifié, afin que, par moi, le message soit pleinement proclamé et que tous les païens l'entendent. C'est ainsi que j'ai été délivré de la gueule du lion.
18 And the Lord will deliuer me from euery euil worke, and will preserue me vnto his heauenly kingdome: to whome be praise for euer and euer, Amen. (aiōn g165)
Et le Seigneur me délivrera de toute œuvre mauvaise et me conservera pour son Royaume céleste. A lui soit la gloire pour les siècles des siècles. Amen. (aiōn g165)
19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the householde of Onesiphorus.
Saluez Prisca et Aquila, et la maison d'Onésiphore.
20 Erastus abode at Corinthus: Trophimus I left at Miletum sicke.
Éraste est resté à Corinthe, mais j'ai laissé Trophime malade à Milet.
21 Make speede to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.
Aie soin de venir avant l'hiver. Eubulus te salue, ainsi que Pudens, Linus, Claudia, et tous les frères.
22 The Lord Iesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you, Amen. ‘The second Epistle written from Rome vnto Timotheus, the first Bishop elected of the Church of Ephesus, when Paul was presented the second time before the Emperour Nero.’
Le Seigneur Jésus-Christ soit avec votre esprit. Que la grâce soit avec vous. Amen.
