2 Samuel 5
1 Then came all the tribes of Israel to Dauid vnto Hebron, and said thus, Beholde, we are thy bones and thy flesh.
Ngày nọ, những đại diện của tất cả đại tộc Ít-ra-ên đến Hếp-rôn, trình bày với Đa-vít: “Chúng tôi là cốt nhục của vua.
2 And in time past when Saul was our King, thou leddest Israel in and out: and the Lord hath sayde to thee, Thou shalt feede my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captaine ouer Israel.
Ngay lúc Sau-lơ còn làm vua chúng tôi, chính ông là người dẫn chúng tôi ra trận và đưa chúng tôi về. Lúc ấy, Chúa Hằng Hữu có phán bảo ông: ‘Ngươi sẽ chăn dắt dân Ta là Ít-ra-ên. Ngươi sẽ lãnh đạo dân Ta, là Ít-ra-ên.’”
3 So all the Elders of Israel came to the King to Hebron: and King Dauid made a couenant with them in Hebron before the Lord: and they anoynted Dauid King ouer Israel.
Vậy, Đa-vít kết giao ước với các trưởng lão trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, và được họ xức dầu làm vua Ít-ra-ên.
4 Dauid was thirtie yeere olde when he began to reigne: and hee reigned fortie yeere.
Đa-vít làm vua năm 30 tuổi, và ông cai trị tất cả là bốn mươi năm.
5 In Hebron hee reigned ouer Iudah seuen yeere, and sixe moneths: and in Ierusalem hee reigned thirtie and three yeeres ouer all Israel and Iudah.
Ông cai trị Giu-đa tại Hếp-rôn được bảy năm rưỡi, và làm vua tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, cai trị cả Ít-ra-ên và Giu-đa được ba mươi ba năm.
6 The King also and his men went to Ierusalem vnto the Iebusites, the inhabitants of the land: who spake vnto Dauid, saying, Except thou take away the blinde and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking that Dauid coulde not come thither.
Đa-vít đem quân đi Giê-ru-sa-lem đánh người Giê-bu, thổ dân địa phương này. Họ nói với Đa-vít: “Ông không vào đây được đâu. Người khiếm thị và người tàn tật cũng đủ sức đánh đuổi ông.” Vì họ nghĩ rằng Đa-vít không đủ sức tấn công thành.
7 But Dauid tooke the fort of Zion: this is the citie of Dauid.
Nhưng Đa-vít tấn công, chiếm đồn Si-ôn. Đồn này ngày nay được gọi là thành Đa-vít.
8 Nowe Dauid had sayd the same day, Whosoeuer smiteth the Iebusites, and getteth vp to the gutters and smiteth the lame and blinde, which Dauids soule hateth, I will preferre him: therefore they saide, The blinde and the lame shall not come into that house.
Hôm ấy Đa-vít ra lệnh: “Cứ theo suối nước ngầm vào tấn công bọn ‘mù’ và ‘què’ Giê-bu, là bọn lòng ta ghét hận.” Và từ đó có câu: người mù, kẻ què sẽ không được vào nhà.
9 So Dauid dwelt in that forte, and called it the citie of Dauid, and Dauid built rounde about it, from Millo, and inward.
Vậy Đa-vít ở trong đồn Si-ôn, vì thế nơi ấy được gọi là Thành Đa-vít. Vua thực hiện một chương trình kiến trúc chung quanh nơi này bắt đầu từ Mi-lô, cho đến trung tâm thành phố.
10 And Dauid prospered and grewe: for the Lord God of hostes was with him.
Thế lực Đa-vít càng ngày càng tăng, vì Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân ở cùng ông.
11 Hiram also king of Tyrus sent messengers to Dauid, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons for walles: and they built Dauid an house.
Hi-ram, vua Ty-rơ, ngoài việc gửi sứ giả đến, còn gửi gỗ bá hương, thợ mộc, thợ hồ để xây cung điện cho Đa-vít.
12 Then Dauid knewe that the Lord had stablished him King ouer Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdome for his people Israels sake.
Đa-vít nhận thức rằng việc Chúa Hằng Hữu lập ông làm vua Ít-ra-ên và cho nước cường thịnh chứng tỏ Ngài đã ban phước vì lợi ích của Ít-ra-ên, dân Ngài.
13 And Dauid tooke him more concubines and wiues out of Ierusalem, after hee was come from Hebron, and more sonnes and daughters were borne to Dauid.
Từ ngày ở Hếp-rôn dời về Giê-ru-sa-lem, Đa-vít cưới thêm nhiều vợ bé khác, sinh thêm nhiều con.
14 And these bee the names of the sonnes that were borne vnto him in Ierusale: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Salomon,
Và đây là tên các con ông sinh tại Giê-ru-sa-lem: Sa-mua, Sô-báp, Na-than, Sa-lô-môn,
15 And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Iaphia,
Gi-ba, Ê-li-sua, Nê-phết, Gia-phia,
16 And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.
Ê-li-sa-ma, Ê-li-a-đa, và Ê-li-phê-lết.
17 But when the Philistims hearde that they had anoynted Dauid King ouer Israel, all the Philistims came vp to seeke Dauid: and when Dauid heard, he went downe to a fort.
Nghe tin Đa-vít đã lên ngôi làm vua nước Ít-ra-ên, quân Phi-li-tin kéo toàn lực tấn công để bắt ông. Nhưng Đa-vít biết được, nên vào đồn.
18 But the Philistims came, and spred themselues in the valley of Rephaim.
Quân Phi-li-tin kéo đến, tràn ra trong thung lũng Rê-pha-im.
19 Then Dauid asked counsel of the Lord, saying, Shall I goe vp to the Philistims? wilt thou deliuer them into mine handes? And the Lord answered Dauid, Goe vp: for I will doubtlesse deliuer the Philistims into thine handes.
Đa-vít cầu hỏi Chúa Hằng Hữu: “Con nên ra đánh quân Phi-li-tin không? Chúa cho con thắng không?” Chúa Hằng Hữu đáp lời Đa-vít: “Nên. Ta sẽ cho con thắng.”
20 Then Dauid came to Baal-perazim, and smote them there, and sayde, The Lord hath deuided mine enemies asunder before mee, as waters be deuided asunder: therefore he called the name of that place, Baal-perazim.
Đa-vít đến Ba-anh Phê-rát-sim, đánh bại quân địch. Ông nói: “Như một dòng nước lũ, Chúa Hằng Hữu đánh thủng phòng tuyến địch trước mặt tôi.” Và ông đặt tên nơi ấy là Ba-anh Phê-rát-sim.
21 And there they left their images, and Dauid and his men burnt them.
Người Phi-li-tin chạy trốn, bỏ cả tượng thần mình lại. Quân Đa-vít lấy các tượng đem đi.
22 Againe the Philistims came vp, and spred themselues in the valley of Rephaim.
Nhưng quân Phi-li-tin quay lại, tràn ra trong thung lũng Rê-pha-im như trước.
23 And when Dauid asked counsell of the Lord, hee answered, Thou shalt not goe vp, but turne about behinde them, and come vpon them ouer against the mulberie trees.
Đa-vít lại cầu hỏi Chúa. Lần này Ngài phán: “Đừng tấn công thẳng tới, nhưng đi vòng sau lưng địch để tấn công chúng gần rừng dâu.
24 And when thou hearest the noyse of one going in the toppes of the mulberie trees, then remoue: for then shall the Lord goe out before thee, to smite the hoste of the Philistims.
Khi nào nghe tiếng bước trên ngọn cây dâu, con sẽ tấn công địch, vì Chúa Hằng Hữu đang đi trước con, đánh quân Phi-li-tin.”
25 Then Dauid did so as the Lord had commanded him, and smote the Philistims from Geba, vntil thou come to Gazer.
Đa-vít vâng lời Chúa Hằng Hữu, đánh bại quân Phi-li-tin từ Ghê-ba đến Ghê-xe.
