2 Samuel 4
1 And when Sauls sonne heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, then his handes were feeble, and all Israel was afraide,

2 And Sauls sonne had two men that were captaines of bandes: the one called Baanah, and the other called Rechab, the sonnes of Rimmon a Beerothite of the children of Beniamin. (for Beeroth was reckened to Beniamin,
Vả, con trai Sau-lơ có hai đội trưởng, một người tên là Ba-a-na, một người tên là Rê-cáp: hai người là con trai của Rim-môn ở Bê-ê-rốt về chi phái Bên-gia-min, -vì dân Bê-ê-rốt kể như người Bên-gia-min,
3 Because the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and soiourned there, vnto this day).
mặc dầu chúng đã chạy trốn nơi Ghi-tha-im, là nơi chúng ở cho đến ngày nay. -
4 And Ionathan Sauls sonne had a sonne that was lame on his feete: he was fiue yere olde when the tydings came of Saul and Ionathan out of Israel: then his nourse tooke him, and fledde away. And as she made haste to flee, the childe fell, and beganne to halte, and his name was Mephibosheth.
Giô-na-than, con trai của Sau-lơ, có một con trai bại chân: khi tin Sau-lơ và Giô-na-than thác ở Gít-rê-ên thấu đến, thì nó đã được năm tuổi. Vú nó đem nó chạy trốn; trong cơn lật đật trốn, nó té, nên nỗi nó trở nên què. Tên nó là Mê-phi-bô-sết.
5 And the sonnes of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah went and came in the heat of the day to the house of Ish-bosheth (who slept on a bed at noone)
Hai con trai của Rim-môn ở Bê-ê-rốt, là Rê-cáp và Ba-a-na, trong lúc trời nắng ban ngày, đi đến nhà ỗch-bô-sết, người đang nằm nghỉ trưa.
6 And beholde, Rechab and Baanah his brother came into the middes of the house as they would haue wheate, and they smote him vnder the fift ryb, and fled.
Hai người đi tuốt đến giữa nhà, giả đò lấy lúa mì, rồi đâm bụng ỗch-bô-sết; đoạn Rê-cáp và Ba-a-na, anh người, trốn đi.
7 For when they came into the house, he slept on his bed in his bed chamber, and they smote him, and slewe him, and beheaded him, and tooke his head, and gate them away through the plaine all the night.
Vậy, hai người đi vào nhà ỗch-bô-sết, trong khi người nằm nghỉ trên giường tại phòng ngủ, đánh giết người; đoạn cắt lấy đầu người, rồi bắt đường đồng bằng mà đi trọn đêm.
8 And they brought the head of Ish-bosheth vnto Dauid to Hebron, and saide to the King, Beholde the head of Ish-bosheth Sauls sonne thine enemie, who sought after thy life: and the Lord hath auenged my lorde the King this day of Saul, and of his seede.
Hai người đem đầu ỗch-bô-sết về Hếp-rôn, dâng cho vua Đa-vít, mà rằng: Nầy là đầu của ỗch-bô-sết, con trai của Sau-lơ, kẻ thù nghịch vua, vẫn toan hại mạng sống vua; ngày nay Đức Giê-hô-va đã báo thù Sau-lơ và dòng dõi người cho vua, là chúa tôi.
9 Then Dauid answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sonnes of Rimmon the Beerothite, and saide vnto them, As the Lord liueth, who hath deliuered my soule out of al aduersity,
Nhưng Đa-vít đáp cùng Rê-cáp và Ba-a-na con trai của Rim-môn ở Bê-ê-rốt, mà rằng: Ta chỉ Đức Giê-hô-va hằng sống, là Đấng đã cứu ta khỏi các hoạn nạn, mà thề rằng:
10 When one tolde me, and sayde that Saul was dead, (thinking to haue brought good tydings) I tooke him and slewe him in Ziklag, who thought that I woulde haue giuen him a rewarde for his tidings:
Ta đã sai bắt kẻ đã đến thuật cho ta hay rằng Sau-lơ đã thác, và tư tưởng rằng mình là một sứ giả đem tin lành; ta đã giết kẻ đó tại Xiếc-lác đặng trả công cho một sự báo tin dường ấy.
11 How much more, when wicked men haue slaine a righteous person in his owne house, and vpon his bed? shall I not now therfore require his blood at your hand, and take you from the earth?
Phương chi những kẻ hung ác đã giết một người lành nằm trên giường tại trong nhà mình! Vậy, ta há chẳng nên đòi huyết người lại nơi tay các ngươi, và diệt các ngươi khỏi đất sao?
12 Then Dauid commanded his yong men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feete, and hanged them vp ouer the poole in Hebron: but they tooke the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.
Đa-vít bèn truyền lịnh các đầy tớ mình giết hai người đó. Chúng chặt tay và chân họ, rồi treo thây gần bên ao Hếp-rôn. Đoạn, chúng lấy đầu của ỗch-bô-sết, chôn trong mồ Aùp-ne, tại Hếp-rôn.
