< 2 Samuel 23 >

1 These also be the last wordes of Dauid, Dauid the sonne of Ishai saith, euen the man who was set vp on hie, the Anointed of the God of Iacob, and the sweete singer of Israel saith,

૧હવે દાઉદના અંતિમ વચનો આ છે. યિશાઈનો દીકરો દાઉદ, જે અતિ ઘણો સન્માનનીય માણસ હતો, તે યાકૂબના ઈશ્વરથી અભિષિક્ત થયેલો અને ઇઝરાયલનાં મધુર ગીતોનો સર્જક છે; તે કહે છે.

2 The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his worde was in my tongue.

૨ઈશ્વરના આત્માએ મારા દ્વારા વાણી ઉચ્ચારી, તેમનું વચન મારી જીભ પર હતું.

3 The God of Israel spake to me, ye strength of Israel saide, Thou shalt beare rule ouer men, being iust, and ruling in the feare of God.

૩ઇઝરાયલના ઈશ્વર બોલ્યા, ઇઝરાયલના ખડકે મને કહ્યું, ‘મનુષ્યો પર જે નેકીથી રાજ કરે છે જે ઈશ્વરની બીક રાખીને રાજ કરે છે,

4 Euen as the morning light when the sunne riseth, the morning, I say, without cloudes, so shall mine house be, and not as the grasse of the earth is by the bright raine.

૪સવારે ઉગતા સૂર્યના પ્રકાશ જેવો, સવારે વાદળો ના હોય ત્યારના અજવાળા જેવો અને વરસાદ પછી ભૂમિમાંથી કુમળું ઘાસ ઊગી નીકળે છે ત્યારના તેજસ્વી પ્રકાશ જેવો થશે.

5 For so shall not mine house be with God: for he hath made with me an euerlasting couenant, perfite in all pointes, and sure: therefore all mine health and whole desire is, that he will not make it growe so.

૫નિશ્ચે, શું મારું કુટુંબ ઈશ્વર પ્રત્યે એવું નથી? શું તેમણે મારી સાથે સદાનો કરાર કર્યો નથી? શું તે સર્વ પ્રકારે વ્યવસ્થિત તથા નિશ્ચિત છે? તેમણે મારો ઉદ્ધાર કર્યો છે. અને મારી દરેક ઇચ્છાને પરિપૂર્ણ કરી છે. તેઓ એવા મહાન છે.

6 But the wicked shalbe euery one as thornes thrust away, because they can not be taken with handes.

૬પરંતુ તમામ દુષ્ટ લોકો ફેંકી દેવામાં આવનાર કચરા અને કાંટા જેવા થશે, કેમ કે તેઓ હાથ વડે તો તેઓને સ્પર્શ કરાય કે પકડાય નહિ.

7 But the man that shall touch them, must be defensed with yron, or with the shaft of a speare: and they shall be burnt with fire in the same place.

૭પણ જે માણસ તેઓને અડકે તેની પાસે લોખંડનો દંડ તથા ભાલાનો હાથો હોવો જોઈએ, તેઓ જ્યાં હશે ત્યાંજ અગ્નિથી બાળી નાખવામાં આવશે.

8 These be the names of the mightie men whome Dauid had. He that sate in the seate of wisedome, being chiefe of the princes, was Adino of Ezni, he slewe eight hundreth at one time.

૮દાઉદના મુખ્ય સૈનિકોનાં નામ આ છે: મુખ્ય સરદાર તાહખમોની યોશેબ-બાશ્શેબેથ. અસ્ની અદીનોના નામે પણ ઓળખાતો હતો. એક વેળા એક જંગમાં તેણે એક સાથે આઠસો માણસોને મારી નાખ્યા હતા.

9 And after him was Eleazar the sonne of Dodo, the sonne of Ahohi, one of the three worthies with Dauid, when they defied the Philistims gathered there to battel, when the men of Israel were gone vp.

૯તેની પછી અહોહીનો પૌત્ર અને દોદોનો દીકરો એલાઝાર હતો, જયારે પલિસ્તીઓ યુદ્ધને સારુ એકત્ર થયા અને ઇઝરાયલના માણસોએ પીછે હઠ કરી ત્યારે દાઉદની સાથેના જે ત્રણ શૂરવીરોએ પલિસ્તી સૈન્યને અટકાવ્યું હતું. તેઓમાંનો તે એક હતો.

10 He arose and smote the Philistims vntill his hande was wearie, and his hande claue vnto the sworde: and the Lord gaue great victorie the same day, and the people returned after him onely to spoyle.

૧૦એલાઝારે પલિસ્તીઓ સાથે લાદવામાં એટલી બધી તલવાર ચલાવી કે તેનો હાથ તલવાર પકડી ના શકે એટલો બધો થાકી ગયો. ત્યાં સુધી તે પલિસ્તીઓ સામે લડ્યો. અને તેનો હાથ થાકી જઈને તલવારની પકડથી અક્કડ થઈ ગયો ત્યાં સુધી તે પલિસ્તીઓની સામે લડ્યો. અને તેણે તેઓને માર્યા. ઈશ્વરે તે દિવસે મોટો વિજય અપાવ્યો. એલાઝારે પલિસ્તીઓને હરાવ્યા પછી સૈન્ય તેની પાછળ ફક્ત લૂંટ ચલાવવા માટે ગયું.

11 After him was Shammah the sonne of Age the Hararite: for the Philistims assembled at a towne, where was a piece of a fielde full of lentils, and the people fled from the Philistims.

૧૧તેના પછી ત્રીજા ક્રમે આગીનો દીકરો હારારનો શામ્મા હતો. પલિસ્તીઓ એક વખતે લેહી પાસે મસૂરના ખેતરમાં ભેગા થયા હતા તેઓનાથી બીને ઇઝરાયલનું સૈન્ય તેમની સામેથી નાસી ગયું.

12 But he stoode in the middes of the fielde, and defended it, and slewe the Philistims: so the Lord gaue great victorie.

૧૨પણ શામ્માએ ખેતરની વચ્ચે ઊભા રહીને ખેતરનું રક્ષણ કર્યું. અને પલિસ્તીઓને મારી નાખ્યા ઈશ્વરે તેને મોટો વિજય આપ્યો.

13 Afterward three of the thirtie captaines went downe, and came to Dauid in the haruest time vnto the caue of Adullam, and the hoste of the Philistims pitched in the valley of Rephaim.

૧૩ત્રીસ સૈનિકોમાંથી ત્રણ લોકો ત્યાંથી કાપણીના સમયે દાઉદની પાસે અદુલ્લામની ગુફામાં ગયા. પલિસ્તીઓના સૈન્યએ રફાઈમની ખીણમાં છાવણી નાખેલી હતી.

14 And Dauid was then in an holde, and the garison of ye Philistims was then in Beth-lehem.

૧૪જે સમયે દાઉદ ડુંગર પર ગઢમાં હતો, ત્યારે લૂંટ કરવા આવેલા પલિસ્તીઓએ બેથલેહેમને કબજે કર્યું હતું.

15 And Dauid longed, and said, Oh, that one would giue me to drinke of the water of the well of Beth-lehem, which is by the gate.

૧૫દાઉદે તરસથી તલપતાં કહ્યું, “બેથલેહેમના દરવાજા પાસેના કૂવાનું પાણી પીવાની મને તીવ્ર ઇચ્છા થઈ છે.

16 The the three mightie brake into the host of the Philistims, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem that was by the gate, and tooke and brought it to Dauid, who woulde not drinke thereof, but powred it for an offring vnto ye Lord,

૧૬તે ત્રણ યોદ્ધાઓ પલિસ્તીઓના સૈન્યમાં થઈને પસાર થયા અને બેથલેહેમના દરવાજા પાસેના કૂવામાંથી પાણી ભર્યું. તેઓ તે પાણી લઈને દાઉદ પાસે આવ્યા ત્યારે દાઉદે તે પાણી પીવાની ના પાડી. અને તે પાણી ઈશ્વર આગળ રેડી દીધું.

17 And said, O Lord, be it farre from me, that I should doe this. Is not this the blood of the men that went in ieopardie of their liues? therefore he woulde not drinke it. These things did these three mightie men.

૧૭પછી તેણે કહ્યું, હે ઈશ્વર, જે માણસોએ પોતાના જીવ જોખમમાં નાખ્યા તેઓનું લોહી શા માટે પીઉં?” માટે તેણે તે પીવાની ના પાડી. અને કહ્યું હે ઈશ્વર, આ પાણી પીવાથી મને દૂર રાખો. આ સાહસ એ ત્રણ શૂરવીરોએ કર્યા હતાં.

18 And Abishai the brother of Ioab, the sonne of Zeruiah, was chiefe among the three, and he lifted vp his speare against three hundreth, and slewe them, and he had the name among the three.

૧૮સરુયાનો દીકરો યોઆબનો ભાઈ અબિશાય તે ત્રણેમાં મુખ્ય હતો. તે તેના ભાલાથી ત્રણસો માણસો સામે લડ્યો અને તેઓને મારી નાખ્યા. તે ત્રણેમાં તેનો ઉલ્લેખ હતો.

19 For he was most excellent of the three, and was their captaine, but he attained not vnto the first three.

૧૯શું તે ત્રણેમાં સૌથી શ્રેષ્ઠ ન હતો? એ કારણથી તેને તેઓનો સેનાપતિ બનાવવામાં આવ્યો હતો. તો પણ, તે પેલા ત્રણ સૈનિકોની સમાનતા કરી શકે તેવો ન હતો.

20 And Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada the sonne of a valiant man, which had done many actes, and was of Kabzeel, slewe two strong men of Moab: he went downe also, and slewe a lyon in the middes of a pit in the time of snowe.

૨૦બનાયા, કાબ્સએલના શૂરવીર તથા પરાક્રમી કૃત્યો કરનાર યહોયાદાનો દીકરો હતો. તેણે મોઆબના અરીએલના બે દીકરાઓને મારી નાખ્યા. વળી હિમ પડવાના દિવસો હતા ત્યારે એક દિવસે તેણે ખાડામાં ઊતરીને સિંહને મારી નાખ્યો હતો.

21 And he slewe an Egyptian a man of great stature, and the Egyptian had a speare in his hande: but he went downe to him with a staffe, and plucked the speare out of the Egyptians hand, and slewe him with his owne speare.

૨૧બનાયાએ એક દેખાવડા મિસરી માણસને મારી નાખ્યો. તે મિસરીના હાથમાં ભાલો હતો પણ બનાયા તેની સામે ફક્ત લાકડીથી લડ્યો. તે મિસરીના હાથમાંથી બનાયાએ ભાલો ખૂંચવી લીધો અને તેના જ ભાલાથી તેને ખતમ કર્યો હતો.

22 These things did Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and had the name among the three worthies.

૨૨આ પરાક્રમી કૃત્યો યહોયાદાના દીકરા બનાયાએ કર્યા તેથી ત્રણ શૂરવીર યોદ્ધાઓના નામમાં તેના નામનો પણ સમાવેશ કરાયો.

23 He was honourable among thirtie, but he atteined not to the first three: and Dauid made him of his counsell.

૨૩પેલા ત્રીસ સૈનિકો કરતાં તે વધારે નામાંકિત હતો, પણ તે પહેલા ત્રણની બરાબરી કરી શક્યો નહિ. દાઉદે તેને પોતાની અંગરક્ષક ટુકડી ઉપર આગેવાન તરીકે નીમ્યો હતો.

24 Asahel the brother of Ioab was one of the thirtie: Elhanan the sonne of Dodo of Beth-lehem:

૨૪યોઆબનો ભાઈ અસાહેલ તે પેલા ત્રીસમાંનો એક હતો અને દોદો બેથલેહેમીનો દીકરો એલ્હાનાન,

25 Shammah the Harodite: Elika ye Harodite:

૨૫શામ્મા હરોદી, અલીકા હરોદી,

26 Helez the Paltite: Ira the sonne of Ikkesh the Tekoite:

૨૬હેલેસ પાલ્ટી, ઇક્કેશ તકોઈનો દીકરો ઈરા,

27 Abiezer the Anethothite: Mebunnai the Husathite:

૨૭અબીએઝેર અનાથોથી, મબુન્નાય હુશાથી,

28 Zalmon an Ahohite: Maharai the Netophathite:

૨૮સાલ્મોન અહોહી, મહારાય નટોફાથી.

29 Heleb the sonne of Baanah a Netophathite: Ittai the sonne of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Beniamin:

૨૯બાનાહ નટોફાથીનો દીકરો હેલેબ, બિન્યામીનના વંશજોમાંના ગિબયાના રિબાયનો દીકરો ઇત્તાય,
