2 Samuel 20
1 Then there was come thither a wicked man (named Sheba the sonne of Bichri, a man of Iemini) and hee blew the trumpet, and saide, Wee haue no part in Dauid, neither haue we inheritance in the sonne of Ishai: euery man to his tents, O Israel.
Di Gilgal ada seorang yang sering menimbulkan masalah. Namanya Seba anak Bikri, dari suku Benyamin. Dia meniup terompet supaya semua orang mendengar pengumumannya lalu berseru-seru, “Dengar, orang Israel! Kita tidak usah tunduk kepada Daud, anak Isai itu! Biarkan dia memerintah suku Yehuda saja. Mari kita pulang saja!”
2 So euery man of Israel went from Dauid and followed Sheba the sonne of Bichri: but the men of Iudah claue fast vnto their King, from Iorden euen to Ierusalem.
Maka semua orang dari suku-suku Israel meninggalkan Daud dan pergi mengikuti Seba. Hanya orang Yehuda yang tetap menyertai raja dari sungai Yordan sampai ke Yerusalem.
3 When Dauid then came to his house to Ierusalem, the King tooke the ten women his concubines, that hee had left behinde him to keepe the house, and put them in warde, and fed them, but lay no more with them: but they were enclosed vnto the day of their death, liuing in widowhode.
Ketika Daud tiba di istananya, dia memerintahkan supaya kesepuluh selirnya yang dia tinggalkan untuk menjaga istana dipindahkan ke rumah lain, dengan selalu dijaga oleh pengawal. Kebutuhan mereka tetap dipenuhi oleh raja, tetapi dia tidak pernah tidur dengan mereka lagi. Para perempuan itu hidup seperti janda sampai mereka meninggal.
4 Then sayde the King to Amasa, Assemble me the men of Iudah within three dayes, and be thou here present.
Selanjutnya raja berkata kepada Amasa, “Panggillah seluruh pasukan Yehuda supaya lusa kalian berkumpul di sini.”
5 So Amasa went to assemble Iudah, but hee taried longer then the time which he had appoynted him.
Amasa pun pergi mengumpulkan orang Yehuda, tetapi dia tidak kembali menghadap raja pada waktu yang sudah ditetapkan.
6 Then Dauid sayd to Abishai, Now shall Sheba the sonne of Bichri doe vs more harme then did Absalom: take thou therefore thy lords seruants and follow after him, lest he get him walled cities, and escape vs.
Jadi Daud berkata kepada Abisai, “Sekarang Seba akan membuat keadaan lebih berbahaya daripada Absalom. Karena itu, bawalah pasukan yang ada bersama saya dan kejarlah dia, sebelum dia meloloskan diri ke kota yang berbenteng sehingga sulit ditangkap.”
7 And there went out after him Ioabs men, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and all the mightie men: and they departed out of Ierusalem, to follow after Sheba the sonne of Bichri.
Maka Abisai bersama kakaknya, Yoab, berangkat untuk mengejar Seba dengan pasukan yang ada di Yerusalem bersama pasukan pengawal raja.
8 When they were at the great stone, which is in Gibeon, Amasa went before them, and Ioabs garment, that hee had put on, was girded vnto him, and vpon it was a sword girded, which hanged on his loynes in the sheath, and as hee went, it vsed to fall out.
Ketika mereka sampai di sebuah batu besar yang ada di Gibeon, mereka bertemu dengan Amasa. Yoab sedang mengenakan seragam militer dan ikat pinggang. Sebilah pisau terpasang pada ikat pinggangnya itu. Dia segera mendekati Amasa dan merangkulnya dengan tangan kanan seolah-olah memberi salam hangat, tetapi tangan kirinya mengambil pisau itu secara diam-diam sambil berkata kepada Amasa, “Hai Saudaraku! Apa kabar?”
9 And Ioab sayde to Amasa, Art thou in health, my brother? and Ioab tooke Amasa by the beard with the right hand to kisse him.
10 But Amasa tooke no heede to the sworde that was in Ioabs hande: for therewith he smote him in the fift rib, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and smote him not the second time: so he dyed. then Ioab and Abishai his brother followed after Sheba the sonne of Bichri.
Amasa tidak memperhatikan pisau itu, hingga tiba-tiba Yoab menusuk perutnya sampai usus-ususnya terburai dan jatuh ke tanah. Amasa langsung meninggal dengan sekali tusuk. Kemudian Yoab dan Abisai lanjut mengejar Seba.
11 And one of Ioabs men stoode by him, and saide, He that fauoureth Ioab, and hee that is of Dauids part, let him go after Ioab.
Mayat Amasa tergeletak di tengah jalan dengan berlumuran darah. Yoab sudah memberi perintah kepada salah seorang tentaranya untuk berdiri di dekat mayat itu dan berseru kepada pasukan yang masih lewat untuk mengejar Seba, “Pergi! Teruslah mengejar! Kalau kalian mendukung Yoab dan Raja Daud, cepatlah pergi mengikuti Yoab!” Namun, ketika orang itu melihat bahwa semua yang lewat berhenti untuk melihat mayat Amasa, dia memindahkannya dari jalan dan menutupinya dengan pakaian. Sesudah itu, barulah semua prajurit lewat begitu saja dan bergabung dengan Yoab.
12 And Amasa wallowed in blood in the mids of the way: and when the man sawe that all the people stood still, he remooued Amasa out of the way into the fielde, and cast a cloth vpon him, because he saw that euery one that came by him, stoode still.
13 When hee was remoued out of the way, euerie man went after Ioab, to follow after Sheba the sonne of Bichri.
14 And he went through all the tribes of Israel vnto Abel, and Bethmaachah and all places of Berim: and they gathered together, and went also after him.
Sementara itu, Seba anak Bikri sudah mengunjungi kesepuluh daerah suku Israel untuk menggerakkan pemberontakan. Terakhir, dia mengumpulkan pasukan dari keluarga besarnya dan bersama mereka dia masuk ke dalam kota Abel Bet Maaka.
15 So they came, and besieged him in Abel, neere to Bethmaachah: and they cast vp a mount against the citie, and the people thereof stood on the ramper, and al the people that was with Ioab, destroyed and cast downe the wall.
Mendengar itu, Yoab dan pasukannya mulai mengepung kota itu dengan membuat timbunan tanah untuk naik ke atas benteng kota, serta menggunakan balok besar untuk mendobrak benteng tersebut. Mereka sudah mulai merusak dinding benteng itu ketika
16 Then cried a wise woman out of the citie, Heare, heare, I pray you, say vnto Ioab, Come thou hither, that I may speake with thee.
seorang perempuan yang bijaksana memanggil Yoab dari atas benteng, “Perhatian! Mohon perhatian! Tolong panggilkan Yoab! Saya perlu berbicara dengan dia.”
17 And when hee came neere vnto her, the woman said, Art thou Ioab? And he answered, Yea. And she said to him, Heare the wordes of thine handmaid. And he answered, I do heare.
Yoab mendekat dan perempuan itu bertanya, “Apakah Tuan adalah Yoab?” Jawab Yoab, “Ya.” Lalu kata perempuan itu kepadanya, “Tuan, mohon dengarkan saya.” Jawab Yoab, “Ya, silakan bicara.”
18 Then shee spake thus, They spake in the olde time, saying, They shoulde aske of Abel. and so haue they continued.
Kemudian perempuan itu berkata, “Ada pepatah lama yang mengatakan, ‘Untuk menyelesaikan perkara dengan adil, mintalah nasihat dari orang-orang bijaksana di kota Abel.’
19 I am one of them, that are peaceable and faithful in Israel: and thou goest about to destroy a citie, and a mother in Israel: why wilt thou deuoure the inheritance of the Lord?
Kami penduduk kota ini adalah warga kerajaan Israel yang setia dan suka damai. Untuk apa membinasakan sebuah kota di mana banyak umat TUHAN dilahirkan?”
20 And Ioab answered, and said, God forbid, God forbid it me, that I should deuoure, or destroy it.
Yoab menjawab, “Saya sama sekali tidak ingin membinasakan kotamu!
21 The matter is not so, but a man of mout Ephraim (Sheba ye sonne of Bichri by name) hath lift vp his had against ye King, euen against Dauid: deliuer vs him onely, and I will depart from the citie. And the woman saide vnto Ioab, Beholde, his head shalbe throwen to thee ouer the wall.
Bukan itu tujuan saya. Saya ke sini untuk mengejar Seba anak Bikri, orang dari perbukitan Efraim. Dia sudah memimpin pemberontakan melawan Raja Daud. Serahkanlah dia, maka saya akan pergi dari kota ini.” Lalu perempuan bijak itu berkata kepada Yoab, “Baiklah. Kepalanya akan dilemparkan kepada Tuan dari atas benteng ini.”
22 Then the woman went vnto all the people with her wisedome, and they cut off the head of Sheba the sonne of Bichri, and cast it to Ioab: the he blewe the trumpet, and they retired from the citie, euery man to his tent: and Ioab returned to Ierusalem vnto the King.
Kemudian wanita itu berbicara dengan bijaksana kepada penduduk kota itu. Mereka menerima nasihatnya, lalu memenggal kepala Seba dan melemparkannya kepada Yoab. Kemudian Yoab meniup terompet supaya pasukannya bubar dan pulang ke tempat masing-masing. Yoab kembali ke Yerusalem untuk menghadap Raja Daud.
23 Then Ioab was ouer all the hoste of Israel, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada ouer the Cherethites and ouer the Pelethies,
Yoab menjabat sebagai panglima pasukan Israel. Benaya anak Yoyada menjabat sebagai komandan pasukan pengawal raja.
24 And Adoram ouer the tribute, and Ioshaphat the sonne of Ahilud the recorder,
Adoram menjadi kepala mandor atas para pekerja paksa. Yosafat anak Ahilud menjabat sebagai kepala juru tulis yang mencatat semua keputusan dan peristiwa dalam kerajaan.
25 And Sheia was Scribe, and Zadok and Abiathar the Priests,
Seraya menjadi bendahara negara. Zadok dan Abiatar menjabat sebagai imam besar.
26 And also Ira the Iairite was chiefe about Dauid.
Ira, yang berasal dari kota Yair, menjabat sebagai hakim utama di bawah Daud.
