2 Samuel 2
1 After this, Dauid asked counsel of the Lord, saying, Shall I go vp into any of the cities of Iudah? And the Lord sayd vnto him, Goe vp. And Dauid sayd Whither shall I goe? Hee then answered, Vnto Hebron.
Después de esto aconteció que David consultó a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Subiré a alguna de las ciudades de Judá? Y Jehová le respondió: Sube. Y David tornó a decir. ¿Adónde subiré? Y él le dijo: a Hebrón.
2 So Dauid went vp thither, and his two wiues also, Ahinoam the Izreelite, and Abigail Nabals wife the Carmelite.
Y David subió allá, y con él sus dos mujeres Aquinoam Jezraelita, y Abigail, la mujer de Nabal del Carmelo.
3 And Dauid brought vp the men that were with him, euery man with his houshold, and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.
Y trajo también David consigo los varones que habían estado con él, cada uno con su familia: los cuales moraron en las ciudades de Hebrón.
4 Then the men of Iudah came, and there they anoynted Dauid King ouer the house of Iudah. And they tolde Dauid, saying, that the men of Iabesh Gilead buried Saul.
Y vinieron los varones de Judá, y ungieron allí a David por rey sobre la casa de Judá. Y dieron aviso a David, diciendo: Los de Jabes de Galaad son los que sepultaron a Saul.
5 And Dauid sent messengers vnto the men of Iabesh Gilead, and said vnto them, Blessed are ye of the Lord, that yee haue shewed such kindenes vnto your lord Saul, that you haue buried him.
Y David envió mensajeros a los de Jabes de Galaad, diciéndoles: Benditos seáis vosotros de Jehová, que habéis hecho esta misericordia con vuestro señor Saul, que le habéis sepultado.
6 Therefore now the Lord shewe mercie and trueth vnto you: and I will recompence you this benefite, because ye haue done this thing.
Ahora pues Jehová hará con vosotros misericordia y verdad: y yo también os haré bien, por esto que habéis hecho.
7 Therefore nowe let your handes be strong, and be you valiant: albeit your master Saul bee dead, yet neuerthelesse the house of Iudah hath anoynted me King ouer them.
Esfuércense pues ahora vuestras manos, y sed valientes, pues que muerto Saul vuestro señor, los de la casa de Judá me han ungido por rey sobre sí.
8 But Abner the sonne of Ner that was captaine of Sauls hoste, tooke Ish-bosheth the sonne of Saul, and brought him to Mahanaim,
Y Abner, hijo de Ner, general del ejército de Saul, tomó a Is-boset, hijo de Saul, e hízole pasar al real.
9 And made him King ouer Gilead, and ouer the Ashurites, and ouer Izreel, and ouer Ephraim, and ouer Beniamin, and ouer al Israel.
Y alzóle por rey sobre Galaad, y sobre Gessuri, y sobre Jezrael, y sobre Efraím, y sobre Ben-jamín, y sobre todo Israel.
10 Ish-bosheth Sauls sonne was fourtie yeere olde when he began to reigne ouer Israel, and reigned two yeere: but the house of Iudah followed Dauid.
De cuarenta años era Is-boset, hijo de Saul, cuando comenzó a reinar sobre Israel, y reinó dos años: sola la casa de Judá seguía a David.
11 (And the time which Dauid reigned in Hebron ouer the house of Iudah, was seuen yeere and sixe moneths)
Y fue el número de los días que David reinó en Hebrón sobre la casa de Judá, siete años y seis meses.
12 And Abner the sonne of Ner, and the seruantes of Ish-bosheth the sonne of Saul went out of Mahanaim to Gibeon.
Y Abner, hijo de Ner, salió del real a Gabaón con los siervos de Is-boset, hijo de Saul.
13 And Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah, and the seruants of Dauid went out and met one another by the poole of Gibeon: and they sate downe, the one on the one side of the poole, and the other on the otherside of the poole.
Y Joab, hijo de Sarvia, y los criados de David salieron, y encontráronlos junto al estanque de Gabaón; y como se juntaron, los unos se pararon de la una parte del estanque, y los otros de la otra.
14 Then Abner saide to Ioab, Let the yong men nowe arise, and play before vs. And Ioab said, Let them arise.
Y dijo Abner a Joab: Levántense ahora los mancebos, y jueguen delante de nosotros. Y Joab respondió: Levanten.
15 Then there arose and went ouer twelue of Beniamin by number, which perteined to Ish-bosheth the sonne of Saul, and twelue of the seruants of Dauid.
Entonces levantáronse, y pasaron doce por cuenta de Ben-jamín de la parte de Is-boset, hijo de Saul: y otros doce de los siervos de David.
16 And euery one caught his fellowe by the head, and thrust his sword in his fellowes side, so they fell downe together: wherefore ye place was called Helkath-hazzurim, which is in Gibeon.
Y cada uno echó mano de la cabeza de su compañero, y metió su espada por el lado de su compañero, y cayeron a una: y fue llamado aquel lugar Helcat-assurim, el cual es en Gabaón.
17 And the battel was exceeding sore that same day: for Abner and the men of Israel fell before the seruants of Dauid.
Y hubo aquel día una batalla muy recia, donde Abner y los varones de Israel fueron vencidos de los siervos de David.
18 And there were three sonnes of Zeruiah there, Ioab, and Abishai, and Asahel. And Asahel was as light on foote as a wilde roe.
Y estaban allí los tres hijos de Sarvia, Joab, y Abisaí, y Asael. Este Asael era suelto de pies como un corzo del campo.
19 And Asahel followed after Abner, and in going he turned neither to the right hand nor to the left from Abner.
El cual Asael siguió a Abner, yendo sin apartarse a diestra ni a siniestra en pos de Abner.
20 Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Art thou Asahel? And he answered, Yea.
Y Abner miró atrás, y dijo: ¿No eres tú Asael? Y él respondió: Sí.
21 Then Abner said, Turne thee either to the right hande, or to the left, and take one of the yong men, and take thee his weapons: and Asahel would not depart from him.
Entonces Abner le dijo: Apártate, o a la derecha, o a la izquierda, y préndete alguno de los mancebos, y tómate sus despojos. Y Asael no quiso apartarse de en pos de él.
22 And Abner saide to Asahel, Depart from me: wherefore shoulde I smite thee to the grounde? howe then shoulde I be able to holde vp my face to Ioab thy brother?
Y Abner tornó a decir a Asael: Apártate de en pos de mí, porque te heriré en tierra, y después ¿cómo levantaré mi rostro a tu hermano Joab?
23 And when he woulde not depart, Abner with the hinder ende of the speare smote him vnder the fift ryb, that the speare came out behind him: and he fell downe there, and dyed in his place. And as many as came to the place where Asahel fell downe and dyed, stoode still.
Y no queriendo él irse, hirióle Abner con la parte opuesta de la lanza, junto a la quinta costilla, y la lanza le salió por las espaldas, y cayó allí, y murió en aquel mismo lugar. Y todos los que venían por aquel lugar donde Asael había caído, y estaba muerto, se paraban.
24 Ioab also and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sunne went downe, when they were come to the hill Ammah, that lieth before Giah, by the way of the wildernesse of Gibeon.
Y Joab y Abisaí siguieron a Abner, y púsoseles el sol, cuando llegaron al collado de Amma, que está delante de Gia, junto al camino del desierto de Gabaón.
25 And the children of Beniamin gathered them selues together after Abner, and were on an heape and stoode on the top of an hill.
Y juntáronse los hijos de Ben-jamín en un escuadrón con Abner; y paráronse en la cumbre del collado.
26 Then Abner called to Ioab, and said, Shall the sworde deuoure for euer? knowest thou not, that it will be bitternesse in the latter ende? howe long then shall it be, or thou bid the people returne from following their brethren?
Y Abner dio voces a Joab, diciendo: ¿Consumirá la espada perpetuamente? ¿No sabes tú que al cabo se sigue amargura? ¿Hasta cuándo no has de decir al pueblo que se vuelvan de seguir a sus hermanos?
27 And Ioab sayde, As God liueth, if thou haddest not spoken, surely euen in the morning the people had departed euery one backe from his brother.
Y Joab respondió: Vive Dios que si no hubieras hablado, ya desde esta mañana el pueblo hubiera cesado de seguir a sus hermanos.
28 So Ioab blew a trumpet, and all the people stoode still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.
Entonces Joab tocó el cuerno, y todo el pueblo se detuvo, y no siguió más a los de Israel, ni peleó más.
29 And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plaine, and went ouer Iorden, and past through all Bithron till they came to Mahanaim.
Y Abner y los suyos se fueron por la campaña toda aquella noche, y pasando el Jordán caminaron por todo Bet-orón, y vinieron al real.
30 Ioab also returned backe from Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of Dauids seruants nineteene men and Asahel.
Joab también vuelto de seguir a Abner, juntando todo el pueblo, faltaron de los siervos de David diez y nueve hombres, y Asael.
31 But the seruants of Dauid had smitten of Beniamin, and of Abners men, so that three hundreth and threescore men dyed.
Y los siervos de David hirieron de los de Ben-jamín, y de los de Abner: trescientos y sesenta hombres murieron. Y tomaron a Asael, y sepultáronle en el sepulcro de su padre en Belén.
32 And they tooke vp Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Bethlehem: and Ioab and his men went all night, and when they came to Hebron, the day arose.
Y caminaron toda aquella noche, Joab y los suyos: y amanecióles en Hebrón.
