2 Samuel 18
1 Then Dauid numbred the people that were with him, and set ouer them captaines of thousands and captaines of hundreths.
அப்பொழுது தாவீது தன்னுடனிருக்கும் படைவீரரைக் கணக்கிட்டு, ஆயிரம் வீரர்களுக்குத் தலைவரையும், நூறு வீரர்களுக்குத் தலைவரையும் நியமித்தான்.
2 And Dauid sent foorth the third part of the people vnder the hand of Ioab, and the thirde part vnder the hand of Abishai Ioabs brother the sonne of Zeruiah: and the other third part vnder the hand of Ittai the Gittite. and the King said vnto the people, I will go with you my selfe also.
அதன்பின் தாவீது போர்வீரரை மூன்று பிரிவாகப் பிரித்து, ஒரு பிரிவை யோவாபின் தலைமையிலும், ஒரு பிரிவை செருயாவின் மகன் யோவாபின் சகோதரனான அபிசாயின் தலைமையிலும், ஒரு பிரிவை கித்தியனான ஈத்தாயின் தலைமையிலும் அனுப்பினான்; அரசன் போர்வீரர்களிடம், “நானும் நிச்சயம் உங்களோடேகூட போருக்கு வருவேன்” என்றான்.
3 But the people answered, Thou shalt not goe foorth: for if we flee away, they will not regarde vs, neither will they passe for vs, though halfe of vs were slaine: but thou art now worth ten thousande of vs: therefore nowe it is better that thou succour vs out of the citie.
அதற்கு அவர்கள், “நீர் எங்களோடு வரவேண்டாம். நாங்கள் புறமுதுகு காட்டி ஓடநேரிட்டாலும், எங்களைப் பொருட்படுத்தமாட்டார்கள். எங்களில் பாதிபேர் இறந்தாலும் அதையும் கவனிக்கமாட்டார்கள். ஆனால் நீரோ எங்களில் பத்தாயிரம் பேருக்குச் சமம். நீர் பட்டணத்தில் தங்கியிருந்து எங்களுக்கு உதவி செய்வதே நல்லது” என்றார்கள்.
4 Then the King said vnto them, What seemeth you best, that I will doe. So the King stood by the gate side, and all the people came out by hundreths and by thousands.
அதற்கு அரசன் அவர்களிடம், “அப்படியானால் உங்களுக்கு நல்லதென்று தோன்றுவது எதையும் நான் செய்வேன்” என்றான். எல்லா மனிதரும் நூறுபேரும், ஆயிரம்பேரும் கொண்ட பகுதிகளாக அணிவகுத்துச் செல்கையில் அரசன் பட்டண வாசல் அருகில் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தான்.
5 And the King commanded Ioab and Abishai, and Ittai, saying, Entreate the yong man Absalom gently for my sake. and all the people heard whe the King gaue al the captaines charge concerning Absalom.
எனவே அரசன் தாவீது, “யோவாப், அபிசாய், ஈத்தாய் ஆகியோரிடம் எனக்காக வாலிபன் அப்சலோமுடன் தயவாய் நடந்துகொள்ளுங்கள்” எனக் கட்டளையிட்டான். அப்சலோமைப்பற்றி தளபதிகளுக்கு அரசன் இட்ட கட்டளையைப்பற்றி, எல்லா போர்வீரர்களும் கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
6 So the people went out into the fielde to meete Israel, and the battell was in the wood of Ephraim:
போர்வீரர் இஸ்ரயேலருக்கு எதிராக போர்புரிய களத்துக்கு அணிவகுத்துச் சென்றார்கள். எப்பிராயீம் காட்டிலே போர் நடந்தது.
7 Where the people of Israel were slaine before the seruants of Dauid: so there was a great slaughter that day, euen of twentie thousande.
அங்கே இஸ்ரயேலின் படைவீரர் தாவீதின் வீரர்களால் தோற்கடிக்கப்பட்டார்கள்; அன்றையதினம் இழப்பு மிக அதிகமாயிருந்தது. இருபதாயிரம் பேர் இறந்தார்கள்.
8 For the battel was skattered ouer all the countrey: and the wood deuoured much more people that day, then did the sworde.
அந்த போர் நாட்டுப்புறம் முழுவதற்கும் பரவியது; அன்று வாளால் இறந்தவர்களிலும் காட்டில் இறந்தவர்களே அதிகமாயிருந்தார்கள்.
9 Nowe Absalom met the seruants of Dauid, and Absalom rode vpon a mule, and the mule came vnder a great thicke oke: and his head caught holde of the oke, and he was taken vp betweene the heauen and the earth: and the mule that was vnder him went away.
அப்பொழுது அப்சலோம் தாவீதின் சில வீரர்களை எதிர்கொள்ள நேர்ந்தது. அவன் கோவேறு கழுதையின்மேல் சவாரி செய்துகொண்டிருந்தான். அப்போது அந்தக் கழுதை ஒரு அடர்ந்த கர்வாலி மரத்தின்கீழ் போகையில் அப்சலோமின் தலை அம்மரத்தில் சிக்கிக்கொண்டது. கோவேறு கழுதை தொடர்ந்து செல்ல அவன் அந்த மரத்தில் தொங்கிக் கொண்டிருந்தான்.
10 And one that sawe it, tolde Ioab, saying, Beholde, I sawe Absalom hanged in an oke.
அந்த மனிதரில் ஒருவன் யோவாபிடம் வந்து, “கர்வாலி மரமொன்றில் அப்சலோம் தொங்குவதைக் கண்டேன்” என்றான்.
11 Then Ioab saide vnto the man that tolde him, And hast thou in deede seene? why then diddest thou not there smite him to the grounde, and I woulde haue giuen thee ten shekels of siluer, and a girdle?
அப்பொழுது யோவாப் அதைச் சொன்னவனிடம், “நீ அதைக் கண்டாயா? அப்படியாயின் ஏன் அவனை அங்கேயே வெட்டி கீழே போடவில்லை. நீ அதைச் செய்திருந்தால் நான் உனக்குப் பத்து வெள்ளிக்காசையும், மாவீரனுக்குரிய பட்டியையும் கொடுத்திருப்பேன்” என்றான்.
12 Then the man saide vnto Ioab, Though I should receiue a thousande shekels of siluer in mine hande, yet woulde I not lay mine hande vpon the Kings sonne: for in our hearing the King charged thee, and Abishai, and Ittai, saying, Beware, least any touche the yong man Absalom.
அதற்கு அவன் யோவாபிடம், “நீர் ஆயிரம் வெள்ளிக்காசுகளை என் கையில் நிறுத்துக் கொடுத்தாலும், அரசனின் மகனுக்கு எதிராக என் கையை ஓங்கமாட்டேன். எங்கள் காதுகள் கேட்க, ‘வாலிபனான அப்சலோமை எனக்காகக் காப்பாற்றுங்கள்’ என்று அரசன் உமக்கும், அபிசாய்க்கும், ஈத்தாய்க்கும் கட்டளையிட்டாரே.
13 If I had done it, it had bene the danger of my life: for nothing can be hid from the King: yea, thou thy selfe wouldest haue bin against me.
அப்படியிருக்க, அரசனுக்கு ஒன்றும் மறைவாய் போகாது; நான் என் உயிருக்குக் கேடுண்டாக்கத்தக்க துரோகமான இச்செயலைச் செய்திருந்தால், நீரும் என்னைக் கைவிட்டிருப்பீரே” என்றான்.
14 Then saide Ioab, I will not thus tary with thee. And he tooke three dartes in his hande, and thrust them through Absalom, while he was yet aliue in the middes of the oke.
அப்பொழுது யோவாப் அவனிடம், “நான் இப்படி உன்னுடன் என் நேரத்தை வீணாக்க விரும்பவில்லை” என்று சொல்லி மூன்று ஈட்டிகளை எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோய் கர்வாலி மரத்தில் உயிரோடு தொங்கிக் கொண்டிருந்த அப்சலோமின் நெஞ்சில் குத்தினான்.
15 And tenne seruants that bare Ioabs armour, compassed about and smote Absalom, and slewe him.
அத்துடன் யோவாபின் கவசம் சுமப்போர் பத்துபேர் அப்சலோமைச் சூழ்ந்து, அடித்தே அவனைக் கொன்றார்கள்.
16 Then Ioab blewe the trumpet, and the people returned from pursuing after Israel: for Ioab helde backe the people.
அதன்பின் யோவாப் எக்காளத்தை ஊதி, இஸ்ரயேலரைப் பின்தொடர்வதை நிறுத்திவிட்டான். தொடர்ந்து செல்லாதபடி படை வீரரைத் தடுத்தான்.
17 And they tooke Absalom, and cast him into a great pit in the wood, and layed a mightie great heape of stones vpon him: and all Israel fled euery one to his tent.
மேலும் அப்சலோமின் உடலை எடுத்துக் காட்டிலுள்ள பெரிய குழியில்போட்டு பெரிய கற்களை அதன்மேல் குவித்தார்கள். இஸ்ரயேலரோ அவரவருடைய வீடுகளுக்கு ஓடித் தப்பினார்கள்.
18 Nowe Absalom in his life time had taken and reared him vp a pillar, which is in the kings dale: for he saide, I haue no sonne to keepe my name in remembrance. and he called the pillar after his owne name, and it is called vnto this day, Absaloms place.
அப்சலோம் தான் உயிரோடிருக்கையில், “என் பெயரை எனக்குப்பின் என் நினைவாக வைத்திருப்பதற்கு ஒரு மகன் இல்லையே” என நினைத்து ஒரு கல்தூணை அரச பள்ளத்தாக்கில் நாட்டி, அதற்குத் தன் பெயரைச் சூட்டியிருந்தான். அது இன்றுவரை, “அப்சலோமின் நினைவுச்சின்னம்” என்று சொல்லப்படுகிறது.
19 Then said Ahimaaz the sonne of Zadok, I pray thee, let me runne, and beare the King tidings that the Lord hath deliuered him out of the hande of his enemies.
அதன்பின் சாதோக்கின் மகன் அகிமாஸ், “நான் அரசனிடம் ஓடிச்சென்று அவரின் பகைவரிடமிருந்து அவரை யெகோவா விடுதலையாக்கினார் என்று அறிவிக்க எனக்கு அனுமதி தாரும்” என்றான்.
20 And Ioab said vnto him, Thou shalt not be the messenger to day, but thou shalt beare tidings another time, but to day thou shalt beare none: for the Kings sonne is dead.
அதற்கு யோவாப் அவனிடம், “இன்று இச்செய்தியைக் கொண்டுபோவது நீ அல்ல; ஆகையால் இன்னொருநாள் செய்தியைச் சொல்லலாம். அரசனின் மகன் இறந்தபடியால், இன்று இச்செய்தியைச் சொல்லக்கூடாது” என்றான்.
21 Then said Ioab to Cushi, Goe, tel the king, what thou hast seene. And Cushi bowed himselfe vnto Ioab, and ran.
அதன்பின் யோவாப் கூஷியன் ஒருவனிடம், “நீ அரசனிடம் போய் கண்டவற்றைச் சொல்” என்றான். எனவே அவன் யோவாபை வணங்கி அரசனிடம் ஓடிப்போனான்.
22 Then saide Ahimaaz the sonne of Zadok againe to Ioab, What, I pray thee, if I also runne after Cushi? And Ioab said, Wherefore now wilt thou runne, my sonne, seeing that thou hast no tidings to bring?
சாதோக்கின் மகன் அகிமாஸ் மீண்டும் யோவாபிடம், “என்ன நேரிட்டாலும் நானும் அந்த கூஷியனோடு அவனுக்குப் பின்னால் ஓடிப்போகவிடும்” என்றான். ஆனால் யோவாபோ, “என் மகனே! நீ ஏன் போக விரும்புகிறாய்? உனக்கு வெகுமதி கொடுக்கும் செய்தி உன்னிடம் இல்லையே” என்றான்.
23 Yet what if I runne? Then he saide vnto him, Runne. So Ahimaaz ranne by the way of the plaine, and ouerwent Cushi.
அதற்கு அகிமாஸ், “என்ன நேரிட்டாலும் நான் போகத்தான் போகிறேன்” என்றான். எனவே யோவாப், “ஓடிப்போ” என்றான். அவ்வாறே அகிமாஸ் சமவெளி வழியாக ஓடி கூஷியனை முந்திக்கொண்டான்.
24 Now Dauid sate betweene the two gates. And the watchman went to the top of the gate vpon the wall, and lift vp his eyes, and sawe, and beholde, a man came running alone.
தாவீது உட்புற வாசலுக்கும், வெளிப்புற வாசலுக்கும் இடையில் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தபோது, காவற்காரன் பட்டணத்து மதிலோடுள்ள வாசலின் கூரையின்மேல் ஏறினான். அங்கு நின்று அவன் பார்த்தபோது, தனிமையாக ஒரு மனிதன் ஓடிவருவதைக் கண்டான்.
25 And the watchman cryed, and tolde ye king. And the King said, If he be alone, he bringeth tidings. And he came apace, and drew neere.
உடனே காவற்காரன் அரசனைக் கூப்பிட்டு அவனுக்கு அதை அறிவித்தான். அப்பொழுது அரசன் அவனிடம், “அவன் தனிமையாய் வருவதனால் அவனிடம் நல்ல செய்தியே இருக்கும்” என்றான். ஓடிவந்த மனிதன் நெருங்கி வந்துகொண்டிருந்தான்.
26 And the watchman saw another man running, and the watchman called vnto the porter, and said, Behold, another man runneth alone. And the King said, He also bringeth tidings.
காவற்காரன் வேறொருவனும் ஓடிவருவதைக் கண்டு வாசற்காவலனைக் கூப்பிட்டு, “அதோ பார்! வேறொருவன் தனியே ஓடிவருகிறான்” என்றான். அப்பொழுது அரசன், “அவனிடமும் நல்ல செய்தியே இருக்கும்” என்றான்.
27 And the watchman said, Me thinketh the running of the formost is like the running of Ahimaaz the sonne of Zadok. Then the King said, He is a good man, and commeth with good tidings.
மறுபடியும் காவற்காரன், “முதலில் ஓடி வருபவன் சாதோக்கின் மகன் அகிமாஸ் போல் எனக்குத் தெரிகிறது” என்றான். அதற்கு அரசன், “அவன் நல்ல மனிதன், நல்ல செய்தியுடனேயே வருவான்” என்றான்.
28 And Ahimaaz called, and sayde vnto the King, Peace be with thee: and he fell downe to the earth vpon his face before the King, and saide, Blessed be the Lord thy God, who hath shut vp the men that lift vp their handes against my lorde the King.
அகிமாஸ் அரசனைக் கூப்பிட்டு, “எல்லாம் நலம்” என்று சொல்லி முகங்குப்புற தரையில் விழுந்து அரசனை வணங்கி, “உம்முடைய இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்குத் துதி உண்டாவதாக. அவர் என் தலைவனுக்கு எதிராக கைகளை ஓங்கிய மனிதரைத் தோற்கடித்து உம்மிடம் ஒப்படைத்தார்” என்றான்.
29 And the King saide, Is the yong man Absalom safe? And Ahimaaz answered, When Ioab sent the Kings seruant, and me thy seruant, I sawe a great tumult, but I knewe not what.
அப்பொழுது அரசன் அகிமாஸிடம், “வாலிபனான அப்சலோம் பாதுகாப்பாக இருக்கிறானா?” எனக் கேட்டான். அதற்கு அகிமாஸ், “அரசனுடைய பணியாளையும், உம்முடைய அடியவனாகிய என்னையும் யோவாப் அனுப்ப எத்தனிக்கையில் ஒரு பெரும் குழப்பம் அங்கே இருப்பதைக் கண்டேன்; ஆனாலும் அது என்ன என்று எனக்குத் தெரியாது” என்றான்.
30 And the King said vnto him, Turne aside, and stand here. so he turned aside and stoode still.
அப்பொழுது அரசன் அவனிடம், “நீ ஒரு பக்கமாய் போய் நில்” என்றான். அவன் ஒரு பக்கமாய் போய் நின்றான்.
31 And beholde, Cushi came, and Cushi saide, Tidings, my lorde the King: for the Lord hath deliuered thee this day out of the hande of all that rose against thee.
அதன்பின் கூஷியன் வந்து அரசனிடம், “என் தலைவனாகிய அரசே! நான் கொண்டுவந்த நல்ல செய்தியைக் கேட்பீராக; உமக்கு விரோதமாக எழும்பிய அனைவரிடமிருந்தும் யெகோவா உம்மை இன்று விடுதலையாக்கினார்” என்றான்.
32 Then the King saide vnto Cushi, Is the yong man Absalom safe? And Cushi answered, The enemies of my lorde the King, and all that rise against thee to doe thee hurt, be as that yong man is.
அப்பொழுது அரசன், “வாலிபனான அப்சலோம் பாதுகாப்பாயிருக்கிறானா?” எனக் கூஷியனிடம் கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவன், “அந்த வாலிபனுக்கு நேரிட்டதுபோலவே, என் தலைவனாகிய அரசனுடைய பகைவருக்கும், உமக்குத் தீமைசெய்ய எண்ணும் அனைவருக்கும் நேரிடட்டும்” என்றான்.
33 And the King was mooued, and went vp to the chamber ouer the gate, and wept: and as he went, thus he said, O my sonne Absalom, my sonne, my sonne Absalom: woulde God I had dyed for thee, O Absalom, my sonne, my sonne.
இதைக் கேட்ட அரசன் கலக்கமடைந்தான். அவன் பட்டணத்து வாசலின்மேல் இருந்த அறைக்குச் சென்று அழுதான். அவன் போகும்போதே, “என் மகன் அப்சலோமே, என் மகனே, என் மகன் அப்சலோமே, உனக்குப் பதிலாக நான் இறந்திருக்கக் கூடாதோ; ஆ என் மகன் அப்சலோமே, என் மகனே, என் மகனே!” என்று சொல்லி அழுதுகொண்டே போனான்.
