2 Samuel 17
1 Moreouer Ahithophel said to Absalom, Let me chuse out now twelue thousand men, and I will vp and follow after Dauid this night,
Entonces Ahitofel dijo a Absalón: Yo escogeré ahora doce mil hombres, y me levantaré, y seguiré a David esta noche;
2 And I will come vpon him: for he is wearie, and weake handed: so I will feare him, and all the people that are with him, shall flee, and I will smite the King onely,
y daré sobre él, que él estará cansado y flaco de manos; lo atemorizaré, y todo el pueblo que está con él huirá, y heriré al rey solo.
3 And I will bring againe all the people vnto thee, and when all shall returne, (the man whome thou seekest being slaine) all the people shalbe in peace.
Así tornaré a todo el pueblo a ti; y cuando ellos hubieren vuelto, (pues aquel hombre es el que tú quieres) todo el pueblo estará en paz.
4 And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the Elders of Israel.
Esta palabra fue recta en ojos Absalón y de todos los ancianos de Israel.
5 Then said Absalom, Call now Hushai the Archite also, and let vs heare likewise what he sayth.
Y dijo Absalón: Yo te ruego que llames también a Husai araquita, para que asimismo oigamos lo que él dirá.
6 So when Hushai came to Absalom, Absalom spake vnto him, saying, Ahithophel hath spoken thus: shall we doe after his saying, or no? tell thou.
Y cuando Husai vino a Absalón, le habló Absalón, diciendo: Así ha dicho Ahitofel; ¿seguiremos su consejo, o no? Di tú.
7 Hushai then answered vnto Absalom, The counsel that Ahithophel hath giuen, is not good at this time.
Entonces Husai dijo a Absalón: El consejo que ha dado esta vez Ahitofel no es bueno.
8 For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father, and his men, that they be strong men, and are chafed in minde as a beare robbed of her whelps in the fielde: also thy father is a valiant warrier, and will not lodge with the people.
Y añadió Husai: Tú sabes que tu padre y los suyos son hombres valientes, y que están ahora con amargura de ánimo, como la osa en el campo cuando le han quitado los hijos. Además, tu padre es hombre de guerra, y no tendrá la noche con el pueblo.
9 Behold, he is hid now in some caue, or in some place: and though some of them be ouerthrowen at the first, yet the people shall heare, and say, The people that follow Absalom, be ouerthrowen.
He aquí él estará ahora escondido en alguna cueva, o en algún otro lugar; y si al principio cayeren algunos de los tuyos, lo oirá quien lo oyere, y dirá: El pueblo que sigue a Absalón ha sido muerto.
10 Then he also that is valiant whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall shrinke and faint: for all Israel knoweth, that thy father is valiant, and they which be with him, stout men.
Así aun el hombre valiente, cuyo corazón sea como corazón de león, sin duda desmayará; porque todo Israel sabe que tu padre es hombre valiente, y que los que están con él son esforzados.
11 Therefore my counsell is, that all Israel be gathered vnto thee, from Dan euen to Beer-sheba as the sand of the sea in nomber, and that thou goe to battell in thine owne person.
Mas yo aconsejo que todo Israel se junte a ti, desde Dan hasta Beerseba, que será en multitud como la arena que está a la orilla del mar, y que tú en persona vayas a la batalla.
12 So shall we come vpon him in some place, where we shall finde him, and we will vpon him as the dewe falleth on the ground: and of all the men that are with him, wee will not leaue him one.
Entonces le acometeremos en cualquier lugar que pudiere hallarse, y daremos sobre él como cuando el rocío cae sobre la tierra, y ni uno dejaremos de él, y de todos los que con él están.
13 Moreouer if he be gotten into a citie, then shall all the men of Israel bring ropes to that citie, and we will draw it into the riuer, vntill there be not one small stone founde there.
Y si se recogiere en alguna ciudad, todos los de Israel traerán sogas a aquella ciudad, y la arrastraremos hasta el arroyo, que nunca más parezca piedra de ella.
14 Then Absalom and all the men of Israel sayde, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better, then the counsell of Ahithophel: for the Lord had determined to destroy the good counsell of Ahithophel, that the Lord might bring euill vpon Absalom.
Entonces Absalón y todos los de Israel dijeron: El consejo de Husai araquita es mejor que el consejo de Ahitofel. Porque el SEÑOR había mandado que el acertado consejo de Ahitofel fuese disipado, para que el SEÑOR hiciese venir el mal sobre Absalón.
15 Then said Hushai vnto Zadok and to Abiathar the Priests, Of this and that maner did Ahithophel and the Elders of Israel counsell Absalom: and thus and thus haue I counseled.
Dijo luego Husai a Sadoc y a Abiatar sacerdotes: Así y así aconsejó Ahitofel a Absalón y a los ancianos de Israel; y yo aconsejé así y así.
16 Now therefore sende quickely, and shewe Dauid, saying, Tarie not this night in the fieldes of the wildernesse, but rather get thee ouer, lest the King be deuoured and all the people that are with him.
Por tanto enviad inmediatamente, y dad aviso a David, diciendo: No quedes esta noche en los llanos del desierto, sino pasa luego el Jordán, para que el rey no sea consumido, y todo el pueblo que con él está.
17 Now Ionathan and Ahimaaz abode by En-rogel: (for they might not be seene to come into the citie) and a maid went, and tolde them, and they went and shewed King Dauid.
Y Jonatán y Ahimaas estaban junto a la fuente de Rogel, porque no podían ellos mostrarse viniendo a la ciudad; y fue allá una criada, la cual les dio el aviso; y ellos fueron, y dieron aviso al rey David.
18 Neuerthelesse a yong man sawe them, and tolde it to Absalom. therefore they both departed quickely, and came to a mans house in Bahurim, who had a well in his court, into the which they went downe.
Pero fueron vistos por un joven, el cual lo dijo a Absalón; sin embargo los dos se dieron prisa a caminar, y llegaron a casa de un hombre en Bahurim, que tenía un pozo en su patio, dentro del cual ellos descendieron.
19 And the wife tooke and spred a couering ouer the welles mouth, and spred ground corne thereon, that the thing should not be knowen.
Y tomando la mujer de la casa una manta, la extendió sobre la boca del pozo, y tendió sobre ella del trigo majado, para que el negocio no fuese entendido.
20 And when Absaloms seruants came to the wife into the house, they said, Where is Ahimaaz and Ionathan? And the woman answered them, They be gone ouer the brooke of water. And when they had sought them, and could not finde them, they returned to Ierusalem.
Llegando luego los criados de Absalón a la casa a la mujer, le dijeron: ¿Dónde están Ahimaas y Jonatán? Y la mujer les respondió: Ya han pasado el vado de las aguas. Y como ellos los buscaron y no los hallaron volvieron a Jerusalén.
21 And assoone as they were departed, the other came out of the well, and went and tolde King Dauid, and sayde vnto him, Vp, and get you quickely ouer the water: for such counsell hath Ahithophel giuen against you.
Y después que ellos se hubieron ido, aquellos salieron del pozo, y se fueron, y dieron aviso al rey David; y le dijeron: Levantaos y daos prisa a pasar las aguas, porque Ahitofel ha dado tal consejo contra vosotros.
22 Then Dauid arose, and all the people that were with him, and they went ouer Iorden vntil the dawning of the day, so that there lacked not one of them, that was not come ouer Iorden.
Entonces David se levantó, y todo el pueblo que estaba con él, y pasaron el Jordán antes que amaneciese; ni siquiera faltó uno que no pasase el Jordán.
23 Nowe when Ahithophel sawe that his counsell was not followed, he sadled his asse, and arose, and he went home vnto his citie, and put his houshold in order, and hanged him selfe, and dyed, and was buryed in his fathers graue.
Y Ahitofel, viendo que no se había seguido su consejo, enalbardó su asno, y se levantó, y se fue a su casa en su ciudad; y ordenó su casa, y se ahorcó y murió, y fue sepultado en el sepulcro de su padre.
24 Then Dauid came to Mahanaim. And Absalom passed ouer Iorden, he, and all the men of Israel with him.
Y David llegó a Mahanaim, y Absalón pasó el Jordán con todos los varones de Israel.
25 And Absalom made Amasa captaine of the hoste in the stead of Ioab: which Amasa was a mans sonne named Ithra an Israelite, that went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah Ioabs mother.
Y Absalón constituyó a Amasa, sobre el ejército en lugar de Joab, el cual Amasa fue hijo de un varón de Israel llamado Itra, el cual había entrado a Abigail hija de Nahas, hermana de Sarvia, madre de Joab.
26 So Israel and Absalom pitched in the land of Gilead.
Y asentó campamento Israel con Absalón en tierra de Galaad.
27 And when Dauid was come to Mahanaim, Shobi the sonne of Nahash out of Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and Machir the sonne of Ammiel out of Lo-debar, and Barzelai the Gileadite out of Rogel
Y cuando David llegó a Mahanaim, Sobi hijo de Nahas de Rabá de los hijos de Amón, y Maquir hijo de Amiel de Lodebar, y Barzilai galaadita de Rogelim,
28 Brought beds, and basens, and earthen vessels, and wheat, and barley, and floure, and parched corne, and beanes, and lentiles, and parched corne.
trajeron a David y al pueblo que estaba con él, camas, y tazas, y vasijas de barro, y trigo, y cebada, y harina, y trigo tostado, habas, lentejas, y garbanzos tostados,
29 And they brought hony, and butter, and sheepe, and cheese of kine for Dauid and for the people that were with him, to eate: for they said, The people is hungry, and wearie, and thirstie in the wildernesse.
miel, manteca, ovejas, y quesos de vacas, para que comiesen; porque dijeron entre si: Aquel pueblo está hambriento, y cansado, y tendrá sed en el desierto.
