2 Samuel 12
1 Then the Lord sent Nathan vnto Dauid, who came to him, and sayd vnto him, There were two men in one citie, the one riche, and the other poore.
und Jahwe sandte den Propheten Nathan zu David; der trat bei ihm ein und redete ihn an: Es waren zwei Männer in einer und derselben Stadt, der eine reich, der andere arm.
2 The rich man had exceeding many sheepe and oxen:
Der Reiche besaß Schafe und Rinder in großer Menge,
3 But the poore had none at all, saue one litle sheepe which he had bought, and nourished vp: and it grew vp with him, and with his children also, and did eate of his owne morsels, and dranke of his owne cup, and slept in his bosome, and was vnto him as his daughter.
der Arme aber besaß gar nichts außer einem einzigen Lämmchen, daß er sich gekauft und aufgezogen hatte, und das bei ihm und mit seinen Kindern zugleich groß wurde: von seinem Bissen aß es, aus seinem Becher trank es, an seinem Busen schlief es und galt ihm wie eine Tochter.
4 Now there came a stranger vnto the rich man, who refused to take of his owne sheepe, and of his owne oxen to dresse for the stranger that was come vnto him, but tooke the poore mans sheepe, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
Nun kam einst Besuch zu dem reichen Manne; da konnte er es nicht über sich bringen, eines von seinen Schafen und Rindern zu nehmen, um es dem Gaste zuzubereiten, der zu ihm gekommen war, sondern er nahm das Lamm des armen Mannes und bereitete es dem Manne zu, der ihn besucht hatte.
5 Then Dauid was exceeding wroth with the man, and sayde to Nathan, As the Lord liueth, the man that hath done this thing, shall surely dye,
Da geriet David in heftigen Zorn über den Mann und sprach zu Nathan: So wahr Jahwe lebt: der Mann, der das gethan hat, ist ein Kind des Todes
6 And he shall restore the lambe foure folde, because he did this thing, and had no pitie thereof.
und das Lamm muß er siebenfältig erstatten dafür, daß er eine solche That begangen und kein Erbarmen geübt hat!
7 Then Nathan sayd to Dauid, Thou art the man. Thus sayth the Lord God of Israel, I anoynted thee King ouer Israel, and deliuered thee out of the hand of Saul,
Nathan erwiderte David: Du bist der Mann! So spricht Jahwe, der Gott Israels: Ich habe dich zum König über Israel gesalbt und ich habe dich aus Sauls Händen errettet
8 And gaue thee thy lordes house, and thy lords wiues into thy bosome, and gaue thee the house of Israel, and of Iudah, and would moreouer (if that had bene too litle) haue giuen thee such and such things.
und habe dir den Palast deines Herrn übergeben und die Frauen deines Herrn an deinen Busen gelegt und habe dir das Haus Israel und Juda übergeben - und wäre das zu wenig, so wollte ich dir noch mehr geben auf diese oder jene Weise:
9 Wherefore hast thou despised the commandement of the Lord, to doe euill in his sight? thou hast killed Vriah the Hittite with ye sworde, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slaine him with the sworde of the children of Ammon.
warum hast du Jahwes Wort gering geachtet und gethan, was ihm mißfällt? Den Hethiter Uria hast du mit dem Schwert erschlagen und sein Weib hast du dir zum Weibe genommen, ihn selbst aber hast du durch das Schwert der Ammoniter ermordet!
10 Now therefore the sworde shall neuer depart from thine house, because thou hast despised me, and taken the wife of Vriah the Hittite to be thy wife.
Nun denn, so soll für immer das Schwert nicht aus deinem Hause weichen zur Strafe dafür, daß du mich verachtet und das Weib des Hethiters Uria weggenommen hast, damit sie dein Weib werde!
11 Thus sayth the Lord, Behold, I will rayse vp euil against thee out of thine owne house, and will take thy wiues before thine eyes, and giue them vnto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wiues in the sight of this sunne.
So spricht Jahwe: Ich werde noch Unheil für dich aus deinem Haus erstehen lassen und werde dir deine Frauen vor deinen Augen wegnehmen und sie einem andern überliefern, daß er im Angesicht dieser Sonne deinen Frauen beiwohnt!
12 For thou diddest it secretly: but I will doe this thing before all Israel, and before the sunne.
Denn wenngleich du es heimlich gethan hast, werde ich doch diese Drohung angesichts von ganz Israel und angesichts der Sonne ausführen!
13 Then Dauid sayde vnto Nathan, I haue sinned against the Lord. And Nathan sayde vnto Dauid, The Lord also hath put away thy sinne, thou shalt not die.
David sprach zu Nathan: Ich habe mich gegen Jahwe versündigt. Nathan erwiderte David: So hat dir auch Jahwe deine Sünde vergeben; du wirst nicht sterben.
14 Howbeit because by this deede thou hast caused the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the childe that is borne vnto thee shall surely die.
Weil du aber durch deine Handlungsweise Jahwe Verachtung bewiesen hast, so muß nun der Sohn, der dir geboren ward, sterben!
15 So Nathan departed vnto his house: and the Lord stroke the childe that Vriahs wife bare vnto Dauid, and it was sicke.
Hierauf begab sich Nathan nach Hause. Jahwe aber schlug das Kind, das Urias Weib David geboren hatte, so daß es erkrankte.
16 Dauid therefore besought God for the childe, and fasted and went in, and lay all night vpon the earth.
Da suchte David Gott um des Knabens willen und David fastete eine Zeit lang, und als er heimgekommen war, legte er sich über Nacht auf den Boden.
17 Then the Elders of his house arose to come vnto him, and to cause him to rise from the groud: but he would not, neither did he eate meate with them.
Da traten die Vornehmsten des Hofs an ihn heran, um ihn zu bewegen, daß er vom Boden aufstehe, aber er weigerte sich und genoß keine Speise mit ihnen.
18 So on the seuenth day the child dyed: and the seruants of Dauid feared to tell him that the childe was dead: for they sayde, Beholde, while the childe was aliue, we spake vnto him, and he woulde not hearken vnto our voyce: how then shall we say vnto him, The childe is dead, to vexe him more?
Da am siebenten Tage starb das Kind. Die Höflinge Davids scheuten sich jedoch, ihm zu melden, daß das Kind gestorben sei, weil sie dachten: Hat er uns, so lange das Kind noch am Leben war, kein Gehör gegeben, als wir ihm zuredeten, wie können wir ihm nun sagen: das Kind ist tot, daß er ein Unheil anrichte?
19 But when Dauid sawe that his seruantes whispered, Dauid perceiued that the childe was dead: therefore Dauid sayde vnto his seruants, Is the childe dead? And they sayd, He is dead.
David aber bemerkte, daß seine Höflinge miteinander flüsterten. Daran erkannte David, daß das Kind tot war. Da fragte David seine Höflinge: Ist das Kind gestorben? Sie antworteten: Ja.
20 Then Dauid arose from the earth, and washed and anoynted himselfe, and changed his apparell, and came into the house of the Lord, and worshipped, and afterward came to his owne house, and bade that they should set bread before him, and he did eate.
Da stand David vom Boden auf, wusch und salbte sich und wechselte seine Kleider. Sodann trat er in die Behausung Jahwes ein und warf sich nieder, ging darauf heim und forderte etwas, und als man ihm Speise vorsetzte, aß er.
21 Then saide his seruants vnto him, What thing is this, that thou hast done? thou diddest fast and weepe for the childe while it was aliue, but when the childe was dead, thou diddest rise vp, and eate meate.
Seine Höflinge aber fragten ihn: Was ist denn das für ein Verfahren, daß du wegen des Kindes eingeschlagen hast? Als es noch lebte, da hast du gefastet und geweint - und nun, nachdem das Kind gestorben ist, bist du aufgestanden und hast Speise genossen!
22 And he sayde, While the childe was yet aliue, I fasted, and wept: for I sayde, Who can tell whether God will haue mercy on me, that the childe may liue?
Er erwiderte: So lange das Kind noch lebte, habe ich gefastet und geweint, weil ich dachte: Wer weiß, Jahwe kann sich meiner erbarmen, daß das Kind leben bleibt.
23 But now being dead, wherefore shoulde I now fast? Can I bring him againe any more? I shall goe to him, but he shall not returne to me.
Nun es aber tot ist - was soll ich da fasten? Kann ich es etwa wieder zurückbringen? Ich gehe zu ihm, es aber kommt nicht wieder zu mir.
24 And Dauid comforted Bath-sheba his wife, and went in vnto her, and lay with her, and she bare a sonne, and he called his name Salomon: also the Lord loued him.
Nachdem sodann David seine Gemahlin Bathseba getröstet hatte, begab er sich hinein zu ihr und wohnte ihr bei. Sie gebar einen Sohn, den nannte er Salomo, und Jahwe hatte ihn lieb.
25 For the Lord had sent by Nathan the Prophet: therefore he called his name Iedidiah, because the Lord loued him.
Und er übergab ihn der Fürsorge des Propheten Nathan und nannte ihn Jedidjah um Jahwes willen.
26 Then Ioab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and tooke the citie of the kingdome.
Joab aber bestürmte Rabba, die Stadt der Ammoniter, und eroberte die Wasserstadt.
27 Therefore Ioab sent messengers to Dauid, saying, I haue fought against Rabbah, and haue taken the citie of waters.
Darauf sandte Joab Boten an David mit der Meldung: Ich habe Rabba bestürmt und bereits die Wasserstadt erobert -
28 Now therefore gather the rest of the people together, and besiege the city, that thou mayest take it, lest the victorie be attributed to me.
so sammle denn den Rest des Kriegsvolks um dich und belagere die Stadt und erobere sie, damit nicht ich die Stadt erobere und dann mein Name in Verbindung mit ihr genannt werde!
29 So Dauid gathered al the people together, and went against Rabbah, and besieged it, and tooke it.
Da sammelte David alles Kriegsvolk um sich, zog gegen Rabba, bestürmte und eroberte es.
30 And he tooke their Kings crowne from his head, (which weighed a talent of golde, with precious stones) and it was set on Dauids head: and he brought away the spoyle of the citie in exceeding great abundance.
Er nahm dem Milkom die Krone vom Haupte - sie wog ein Goldtalent; an ihr befand sich ein kostbarer Edelstein. Die setzte sich David aufs Haupt und führte eine große Menge Beute aus der Stadt hinweg.
31 And he carryed away the people that was therein, and put them vnder sawes, and vnder yron harowes, and vnder axes of yron, and cast them into the tyle kylne: euen thus did he with all the cities of the children of Ammon. Then Dauid and all the people returned vnto Ierusalem.
Die Bevölkerung aber, die sich darin befand, führte er weg und stellte sie an die Sägen, an die eisernen Picken und die eisernen Äxte und ließ sie mit Ziegelformen arbeiten. Ebenso verfuhr er mit allen anderen Städten der Ammoniter. Dann kehrte David mit dem gesamten Kriegsvolke nach Jerusalem zurück.
