2 Peter 3
1 This seconde Epistle I nowe write vnto you, beloued, wherewith I stirre vp, and warne your pure mindes,
Mis queridos hermanos, esta es ahora mi segunda carta para ustedes, y en esta como en la primera, estoy tratando de hacerlos pensar rectamente y mantener sus mentes alertas con mis consejos;
2 To call to remembrance the wordes, which were tolde before of the holy Prophetes, and also the commandement of vs the Apostles of the Lord and Sauiour.
Para que tengan en cuenta las palabras de los santos profetas del pasado, y la ley del Señor y Salvador que les fueron dados por sus apóstoles.
3 This first vnderstande, that there shall come in the last dayes, mockers, which wil walke after their lustes,
Teniendo primero de todo el conocimiento de que en los últimos días habrá hombres que, gobernados por sus malos deseos, se burlaran de las cosas santas,
4 And say, Where is the promise of his comming? for since the fathers died, all things continue alike from the beginning of the creation.
Diciendo: ¿Dónde está la promesa de su venida? Porque desde él día que los padres durmieron hasta ahora, todo ha continuado como fue desde la creación del mundo.
5 For this they willingly know not, that the heauens were of olde, and the earth that was of the water and by the water, by the word of God.
Pero al tomar este punto de vista, olvidaron la memoria de que en los viejos tiempos había un cielo y una tierra levantada del agua y rodeada de agua y que por el agua subsiste;
6 Wherefore the worlde that then was, perished, ouerflowed with the water.
Y que el mundo que entonces llegó a su fin por el desbordamiento de las aguas.
7 But the heauens and earth, which are nowe, are kept by the same word in store, and reserued vnto fire against the day of condemnation, and of the destruction of vngodly men.
Pero el presente cielo y la tierra han sido guardados para destrucción por el fuego, por la misma palabra, Ese fuego los quemará en él día del juicio y de la perdición de los malvados.
8 Dearely beloued, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord, as a thousande yeeres, and a thousande yeeres as one day.
Pero, mis queridos hermanos, tengan en cuenta esta única cosa, que con el Señor un día es lo mismo que mil años, y mil años no son más que un día.
9 The Lord of that promise is not slacke (as some men count slackenesse) but is pacient toward vs, and would haue no man to perish, but would all men to come to repentance.
El Señor no tarda en cumplir su palabra, como a algunos les parece, sino que es paciente con nosotros, no deseando la destrucción de ninguno, sino que todos se aparten de sus malos caminos.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thiefe in the night, in the which the heauens shall passe away with a noyse, and the elements shall melt with heate, and the earth with the workes that are therein, shalbe burnt vp.
Pero el día del Señor vendrá como un ladrón; y en ese día los cielos se envolverán con un gran ruido, y la sustancia de la tierra será cambiada por el calor violento, y el mundo y todo lo que hay en él se consumirá.
11 Seeing therefore that all these thinges must be dissolued, what maner persons ought ye to be in holy conuersation and godlinesse,
Viendo que todas estas cosas están llegando a ese fin, ¿con cuánta devoción y santidad deben andar ustedes, en toda conducta santa y justicia,
12 Looking for, and hasting vnto the comming of that day of God, by the which the heauens being on fire, shall be dissolued, and the elements shall melt with heate?
Buscando y verdaderamente deseando la venida del día de Dios, cuando los cielos llegará a su fin a través del fuego, y la sustancia de la tierra será cambiada por el gran calor?
13 But wee looke for newe heauens, and a newe earth, according to his promise, wherein dwelleth righteousnesse.
Pero teniendo fe en su palabra, estamos buscando un cielo nuevo y una tierra nueva, que será el lugar donde mora la justicia.
14 Wherefore, beloued, seeing that yee looke for such thinges, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot and blamelesse.
Por esta razón, mis queridos hermanos, como ustedes están buscando estas cosas, tengan mucho cuidado de que cuando él venga puedan estar en paz delante de él, libre del pecado y de todo mal.
15 And suppose that the long suffering of our Lord is saluation, euen as our beloued brother Paul according to the wisedome giuen vnto him wrote to you,
Y tengan entendido que la paciencia del Señor es para la salvación; tal como nuestro hermano Pablo lo dijo en sus cartas, por la sabiduría que le fue dada;
16 As one, that in all his Epistles speaketh of these thinges: among the which some thinges are hard to be vnderstand, which they that are vnlearned and vnstable, wrest, as they do also other Scriptures vnto their owne destruction.
Y como dijo en todas sus cartas, que tenía que ver con estas cosas; en el cual hay algunos dichos duros, de modo que, como el resto de las Sagradas Escrituras, son torcidos por aquellos que son inciertos y sin conocimiento, para la destrucción de sus almas.
17 Ye therefore beloued, seeing ye know these thinges before, beware, lest ye be also plucked away with the errour of the wicked, and fall from your owne stedfastnesse.
Por esta razón, mis seres queridos, teniendo conocimiento de estas cosas antes de que ocurran, tengan cuidado de no ser arrastrados por el error de los inicuos, cayendo así de su verdadera fe.
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Sauiour Iesus Christ: to him be glory both now and for euermore. Amen. (aiōn g165)
Más bien, crezcan en la gracia y en el conocimiento de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo. Que él tenga la gloria ahora y para siempre. Que así sea. (aiōn g165)
