2 Peter 3
1 This seconde Epistle I nowe write vnto you, beloued, wherewith I stirre vp, and warne your pure mindes,
Meus queridos amigos, essa é a segunda carta que lhes envio. Nas duas cartas, eu tento sensibilizá-los e fazer com que se lembrem de ter pensamentos puros.
2 To call to remembrance the wordes, which were tolde before of the holy Prophetes, and also the commandement of vs the Apostles of the Lord and Sauiour.
Não se esqueçam das mensagens que, no passado, os santos profetas anunciaram e dos mandamentos que o Senhor e Salvador enviou para que os seus apóstolos compartilhassem com vocês.
3 This first vnderstande, that there shall come in the last dayes, mockers, which wil walke after their lustes,
Acima de tudo, vocês devem saber que, nos últimos dias, aparecerão pessoas que irão zombar de vocês e que seguirão os seus próprios desejos perversos.
4 And say, Where is the promise of his comming? for since the fathers died, all things continue alike from the beginning of the creation.
Elas irão perguntar: “Então, o que aconteceu? Ele não prometeu que viria? Os nossos ancestrais morreram e tudo continua como sempre foi desde a criação do mundo.”
5 For this they willingly know not, that the heauens were of olde, and the earth that was of the water and by the water, by the word of God.
Mas, elas irão, por vontade própria, ignorar o fato de que, por ordem de Deus, os céus foram criados há muito tempo. A terra surgiu a partir da água e do meio da água.
6 Wherefore the worlde that then was, perished, ouerflowed with the water.
E foi pela água que o mundo que então existia foi destruído, ao ser engolido pelas águas do dilúvio.
7 But the heauens and earth, which are nowe, are kept by the same word in store, and reserued vnto fire against the day of condemnation, and of the destruction of vngodly men.
Mas, por meio dessa mesma ordem divina, os céus e a terra, que agora existem, estão destinados a serem destruídos pelo fogo, no dia do julgamento. E nesse dia, os pecadores serão destruídos.
8 Dearely beloued, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord, as a thousande yeeres, and a thousande yeeres as one day.
No entanto, meus queridos amigos, não se esqueçam disto: para o Senhor, um dia é como mil anos, e mil anos são como um dia.
9 The Lord of that promise is not slacke (as some men count slackenesse) but is pacient toward vs, and would haue no man to perish, but would all men to come to repentance.
O Senhor não está adiando o cumprimento de sua promessa, como alguns pensam. Pelo contrário, ele está sendo muito paciente com vocês. Ele não quer que ninguém se perca, mas que todos venham a se arrepender dos seus pecados.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thiefe in the night, in the which the heauens shall passe away with a noyse, and the elements shall melt with heate, and the earth with the workes that are therein, shalbe burnt vp.
Contudo, o Dia do Senhor virá inesperadamente como um ladrão. Os céus irão explodir com um barulho estrondoso e os elementos serão destruídos, sendo consumidos pelas chamas. A terra e tudo que nela há desaparecerão.
11 Seeing therefore that all these thinges must be dissolued, what maner persons ought ye to be in holy conuersation and godlinesse,
Sabendo que tudo será assim destruído, que tipo de pessoas vocês devem ser? Vocês devem ter vida pura e dedicada a Deus,
12 Looking for, and hasting vnto the comming of that day of God, by the which the heauens being on fire, shall be dissolued, and the elements shall melt with heate?
esperando e desejando ardentemente a chegada do Dia de Deus. Nesse dia, os céus pegarão fogo e serão destruídos, e os elementos se derreterão com o calor.
13 But wee looke for newe heauens, and a newe earth, according to his promise, wherein dwelleth righteousnesse.
Mas nós estamos esperando novos céus e nova terra, que Deus nos prometeu, onde tudo será bom e justo.
14 Wherefore, beloued, seeing that yee looke for such thinges, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot and blamelesse.
Então, amigos, por vocês saberem com antecedência dessas coisas, façam o possível para serem puros e para que não haja culpa em seus corações e estejam em harmonia com Deus.
15 And suppose that the long suffering of our Lord is saluation, euen as our beloued brother Paul according to the wisedome giuen vnto him wrote to you,
Lembrem-se de que a paciência do nosso Senhor é uma oportunidade de salvação para vocês. Isso é o que o nosso querido irmão Paulo lhes explicou em todas as suas cartas, conforme a sabedoria que Deus deu a ele.
16 As one, that in all his Epistles speaketh of these thinges: among the which some thinges are hard to be vnderstand, which they that are vnlearned and vnstable, wrest, as they do also other Scriptures vnto their owne destruction.
Ele falou a respeito dessas coisas, embora algumas coisas escritas por ele realmente sejam difíceis de entender. Algumas pessoas ignorantes e desequilibradas torcem o que ele escreveu, causando prejuízo para elas mesmas, exatamente como elas fazem com outras partes das Sagradas Escrituras.
17 Ye therefore beloued, seeing ye know these thinges before, beware, lest ye be also plucked away with the errour of the wicked, and fall from your owne stedfastnesse.
Amados irmãos, agora que vocês já sabem sobre isso, tomem cuidado para que esses erros dos pecadores não os tirem do caminho da verdade e para que continuem firmes em sua fé.
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Sauiour Iesus Christ: to him be glory both now and for euermore. Amen. (aiōn g165)
Que a graça e o conhecimento a respeito do nosso Senhor e Salvador Jesus Cristo, que vocês já têm, desenvolvam-se cada vez mais! Glória a ele agora e sempre! Amém! (aiōn g165)
