2 Kings 1
1 Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab:
Sau khi Vua A-háp qua đời, người Mô-áp nổi dậy chống lại Ít-ra-ên.
2 And Ahaziah fell thorow the lattesse windowe in his vpper chamber which was in Samaria: so he was sicke: then he sent messengers, to whome he saide, Goe, and enquire of Baal-zebub the God of Ekron, if I shall recouer of this my disease.
Một ngày nọ tại kinh đô Sa-ma-ri, Vua A-cha-xia ngã từ thang gác xuống, thương tích trầm trọng. Vua sai sứ đi cầu thần Ba-anh Xê-bụt ở Éc-rôn xem thử mình có khỏi bệnh không.
3 Then the Angel of the Lord said to Eliiah the Tishbite, Arise, and goe vp to meete the messengers of the King of Samaria, and say vnto them, Is it not because there is no God in Israel, that ye goe to enquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron?
Lúc ấy, thiên sứ của Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo Tiên tri Ê-li người Tích-bê đi đón các sứ của vua Sa-ma-ri và bảo họ: “Ít-ra-ên không có Đức Chúa Trời hay sao mà lại phải đi cầu Ba-anh Xê-bụt ở Éc-rôn?
4 Wherefore thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not come downe from the bed on which thou art gone vp, but shalt die the death. So Eliiah departed.
Bởi thế, Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: ‘A-cha-xia phải nằm liệt giường cho đến chết.’” Ê-li vâng lời ra đi.
5 And the messengers returned vnto him, to whome he said, Why are ye nowe returned?
Nghe xong những lời của Ê-li, các sứ quay về. Vua hỏi: “Tại sao trở về?”
6 And they answered him, There came a man and met vs, and saide vnto vs, Goe, and returne vnto the King which sent you, and say vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Is it not because there is no God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baal-zebub the God of Ekron? Therefore thou shalt not come downe from the bed, on which thou art gone vp, but shalt die ye death.
Họ đáp: “Có một người đón đường chúng tôi, bảo trở về tâu với vua như sau: ‘Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: Ít-ra-ên không có Đức Chúa Trời hay sao, mà phải đi cầu Ba-anh Xê-bụt ở Éc-rôn? Bởi thế ngươi sẽ không rời giường bệnh; chắc chắn ngươi sẽ chết.’”
7 And he saide vnto them, What maner of man was he which came and met you, and tolde you these wordes?
Vua hỏi: “Người đón các ngươi trông như thế nào?”
8 And they said vnto him, He was an hearie man, and girded with a girdle of lether about his loynes. Then sayde he, It is Eliiah the Tishbite.
Họ đáp: “Người ấy mặc áo lông, thắt lưng bằng giây da.” Vua nói: “Đó là Ê-li, người Tích-bê.”
9 Therefore the King sent vnto him a captaine ouer fiftie with his fiftie men, who went vp vnto him: for beholde, he sate on the toppe of a mountaine, and he saide vnto him, O man of God, the King hath commanded that thou come downe.
Vua sai một viên quan dẫn năm mươi lính đi bắt Ê-li. Lúc ấy ông đang ngồi trên một đỉnh đồi. Viên quan bảo: “Thưa người của Đức Chúa Trời! Vua truyền lệnh cho ông đi xuống.”
10 But Eliiah answered, and saide to the captaine ouer the fiftie, If that I be a man of God, let fire come downe from the heauen, and deuoure thee and thy fiftie. So fire came downe from the heauen and deuoured him and his fiftie.
Nhưng Ê-li đáp: “Nếu ta là người của Đức Chúa Trời, thì lửa trời sẽ thiêu đốt anh và lính của anh.” Tức thì có lửa từ trời rơi xuống thiêu cháy họ tất cả.
11 Againe also he sent vnto him another captaine ouer fiftie, with his fiftie. Who spake, and saide vnto him, O man of God, thus the King commandeth, Come downe quickely.
Vua lại sai một viên quan dẫn năm mươi người lính khác đến. Viên quan nói: “Thưa người của Đức Chúa Trời! Vua ra lệnh bảo ông xuống ngay.”
12 But Eliiah answered, and saide vnto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come downe from the heauen, and deuoure thee and thy fiftie. So fire came downe from the heauen, and deuoured him and his fiftie.
Ê-li đáp: “Nếu ta là người của Đức Chúa Trời, thì lửa trời sẽ thiêu đốt anh và lính của anh.” Lửa của Đức Chúa Trời từ trời xuống thiêu họ luôn.
13 Yet againe he sent the third captaine ouer fiftie with his fiftie. And the thirde captaine ouer fiftie went vp, and came, and fell on his knees before Eliiah, and besought him, and saide vnto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life and the life of these thy fiftie seruants be precious in thy sight.
Vua lại sai một viên quan thứ ba với năm mươi lính khác đi. Đến nơi, viên quan quỳ xuống trước Ê-li, khẩn khoản: “Thưa người của Đức Chúa Trời! Xin ông tha mạng tôi và mạng của năm mươi người đầy tớ ông đây.
14 Beholde, there came fire downe from the heauen and deuoured the two former captaines ouer fiftie with their fifties: therefore let my life nowe be precious in thy sight.
Lửa từ trời đã thiêu hai toán trước; nhưng bây giờ, xin tha mạng tôi!”
15 And the Angel of the Lord said vnto Eliiah, Goe downe with him, be not afraide of his presence. So he arose, and went downe with him vnto the King.
Thiên sứ của Chúa Hằng Hữu nói với Ê-li: “Xuống với người ấy đi, đừng sợ.” Ông xuống, đi với viên quan đến gặp vua.
16 And he saide vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Because thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, (was it not because there was no God in Israel to inquire of his worde?) therefore thou shalt not come downe off the bed, on which thou art gone vp, but shalt die the death.
Ê-li nói với A-cha-xia: “Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: ‘Vì ngươi sai sứ giả đi cầu thần Ba-anh Xê-bụt ở Éc-rôn, chẳng lẽ Ít-ra-ên không có Đức Chúa Trời để cầu hỏi sao? Nên ngươi sẽ không rời khỏi giường bệnh; chắc chắn ngươi sẽ chết.’”
17 So he dyed according to the worde of the Lord which Eliiah had spoken. And Iehoram began to reigne in his steade, in the seconde yeere of Iehoram the sonne of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, because he had no sonne.
Vậy, A-cha-xia chết, đúng theo lời Chúa Hằng Hữu dùng Ê-li tuyên phán. Vì A-cha-xia không có con trai, nên em vua là Giô-ram lên ngôi kế vị vào năm thứ hai đời Giô-ram, con Giô-sa-phát vua Giu-đa.
18 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ahaziah, that he did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Các việc khác của A-cha-xia đều được chép trong Sách Lịch Sử Các Vua Ít-ra-ên.
