2 Kings 1
1 Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab:
Moab se révolta contre Israël, après la mort d'Achab.
2 And Ahaziah fell thorow the lattesse windowe in his vpper chamber which was in Samaria: so he was sicke: then he sent messengers, to whome he saide, Goe, and enquire of Baal-zebub the God of Ekron, if I shall recouer of this my disease.
Ochozias tomba par la fenêtre en treillis de sa chambre haute à Samarie, et il fut malade. Il envoya des messagers et leur dit: « Allez consulter Béel-Zébub, dieu d'Accaron, pour savoir si je guérirai de cette maladie. »
3 Then the Angel of the Lord said to Eliiah the Tishbite, Arise, and goe vp to meete the messengers of the King of Samaria, and say vnto them, Is it not because there is no God in Israel, that ye goe to enquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron?
Mais l'ange de Yahweh dit à Elie, le Thesbite: « Lève-toi, monte à la rencontre des messagers du roi de Samarie, et dis-leur: “Est-ce parce qu'il n'y a point de Dieu en Israël que vous allez consulter Béel-Zébub, dieu d'Accaron?”
4 Wherefore thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not come downe from the bed on which thou art gone vp, but shalt die the death. So Eliiah departed.
C'est pourquoi ainsi dit Yahweh: “Du lit sur lequel tu es monté, tu ne descendras pas, tu mourras certainement.” » Et Elie s'en alla.
5 And the messengers returned vnto him, to whome he said, Why are ye nowe returned?
Les messagers retournèrent auprès d'Ochozias, et il leur dit: « Pourquoi revenez-vous? »
6 And they answered him, There came a man and met vs, and saide vnto vs, Goe, and returne vnto the King which sent you, and say vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Is it not because there is no God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baal-zebub the God of Ekron? Therefore thou shalt not come downe from the bed, on which thou art gone vp, but shalt die ye death.
Ils lui répondirent: « Un homme est monté à notre rencontre et nous a dit: Allez, retournez vers le roi qui vous a envoyés, et dites-lui: Ainsi dit Yahweh: Est-ce parce qu'il n'y a point de Dieu en Israël que tu envoies consulter Béel-Zébub, dieu d'Accaron? C'est pourquoi du lit sur lequel tu es monté, tu ne descendras pas, mais tu mourras certainement. »
7 And he saide vnto them, What maner of man was he which came and met you, and tolde you these wordes?
Ochozias leur dit: « Quel était l'aspect de l'homme qui est monté à votre rencontre et qui vous a dit ces paroles? »
8 And they said vnto him, He was an hearie man, and girded with a girdle of lether about his loynes. Then sayde he, It is Eliiah the Tishbite.
Ils lui répondirent: « C'était un homme velu, avec une ceinture de cuir autour des reins. » Et Ochozias dit: « C'est Elie, le Thesbite. »
9 Therefore the King sent vnto him a captaine ouer fiftie with his fiftie men, who went vp vnto him: for beholde, he sate on the toppe of a mountaine, and he saide vnto him, O man of God, the King hath commanded that thou come downe.
Aussitôt il envoya vers lui un chef de cinquante avec ses cinquante hommes. Ce chef monta auprès d'Elie, et voici qu'il était assis sur le sommet de la montagne, et il lui dit: « Homme de Dieu, le roi a dit: Descends! »
10 But Eliiah answered, and saide to the captaine ouer the fiftie, If that I be a man of God, let fire come downe from the heauen, and deuoure thee and thy fiftie. So fire came downe from the heauen and deuoured him and his fiftie.
Elie répondit et dit au chef de cinquante: « Si je suis un homme de Dieu, que le feu descende du ciel et vous consume, toi et tes cinquante hommes? » Et le feu descendit du ciel et les consuma, lui et ses cinquante hommes.
11 Againe also he sent vnto him another captaine ouer fiftie, with his fiftie. Who spake, and saide vnto him, O man of God, thus the King commandeth, Come downe quickely.
Ochozias envoya encore un autre chef de cinquante avec ses cinquante hommes. Ce chef, prenant la parole, dit à Elie: « Homme de Dieu, ainsi a dit le roi: Hâte-toi, descends! »
12 But Eliiah answered, and saide vnto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come downe from the heauen, and deuoure thee and thy fiftie. So fire came downe from the heauen, and deuoured him and his fiftie.
Elie répondit et leur dit: « Si je suis un homme de Dieu, que le feu descende du ciel et vous consume, toi et tes cinquante hommes! » Et le feu de Dieu descendit du ciel, et les consuma, lui et ses cinquante hommes.
13 Yet againe he sent the third captaine ouer fiftie with his fiftie. And the thirde captaine ouer fiftie went vp, and came, and fell on his knees before Eliiah, and besought him, and saide vnto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life and the life of these thy fiftie seruants be precious in thy sight.
De nouveau Ochozias envoya un troisième chef de cinquante avec ses cinquante hommes. Le troisième chef de cinquante monta, et, étant arrivé, il fléchit les genoux devant Elie, et lui dit en suppliant: « Homme de Dieu, de grâce, que ma vie et que la vie de ces cinquante hommes, tes serviteurs, soit précieuse à tes yeux!
14 Beholde, there came fire downe from the heauen and deuoured the two former captaines ouer fiftie with their fifties: therefore let my life nowe be precious in thy sight.
Voici que le feu est descendu du ciel et a consumé les deux premiers chefs de cinquante et leur cinquante hommes; mais maintenant que ma vie soit précieuse à tes yeux! »
15 And the Angel of the Lord said vnto Eliiah, Goe downe with him, be not afraide of his presence. So he arose, and went downe with him vnto the King.
L'ange de Yahweh dit à Elie: « Descends avec lui, et ne crains pas devant lui. » Elie se leva et descendit avec lui vers le roi.
16 And he saide vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Because thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, (was it not because there was no God in Israel to inquire of his worde?) therefore thou shalt not come downe off the bed, on which thou art gone vp, but shalt die the death.
Il lui dit: « Ainsi dit Yahweh: Parce que tu as envoyé des messagers consulter Béel-Zébub, dieu d'Accaron, — n'y a-t-il pas de Dieu en Israël dont on puisse consulter la parole? — à cause de cela, du lit sur lequel tu es monté tu ne descendras pas, mais tu mourras certainement. »
17 So he dyed according to the worde of the Lord which Eliiah had spoken. And Iehoram began to reigne in his steade, in the seconde yeere of Iehoram the sonne of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, because he had no sonne.
Ochozias mourut, selon la parole de Yahweh qu'Elie avait dite; et Joram devint roi à sa place, la seconde année de Joram, fils de Josaphat, roi de Juda; car il n'avait pas de fils.
18 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ahaziah, that he did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Le reste des actes d'Ochozias, ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël?
