2 Kings 8

1 Then spake Elisha vnto the woman, whose sonne he had restored to life, saying, Vp, and goe, thou, and thine house, and soiourne where thou canst soiourne: for the Lord hath called for a famine, and it commeth also vpon the land seuen yeeres.

Och Elisa talade till den kvinna vilkens son han hade gjort levande, han sade: "Stå upp och drag bort med ditt husfolk och vistas var du kan, ty HERREN har bjudit hungersnöden komma, och den har redan kommit in i landet och skall räcka i sju år."

2 And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God, and went both shee and her housholde and soiourned in the lande of the Philistims seuen yeeres.

Då stod kvinnan upp och gjorde såsom gudsmannen sade; hon drog bort med sitt husfolk och vistades i filistéernas land i sju år.

3 And at the seuen yeeres ende, the woman returned out of the lande of the Philistims, and went out to call vpon the King for her house and for her land.

Men när de sju åren voro förlidna, kom kvinnan tillbaka ifrån filistéernas land; och hon gick åstad för att anropa konungen om att återfå sitt hus och sin åker.

4 And the King talked with Gehazi the seruant of the man of God, saying, Tell mee, I pray thee, all the great actes, that Elisha hath done.

Och konungen höll då på att tala med Gehasi, gudsmannens tjänare, och sade: "Förtälj för mig alla de stora ting som Elisa har gjort."

5 And as he told the King, howe he had restored one dead to life, behold, the woman, whose sonne he had raised to life, called vpon the King for her house and for her land. Then Gehazi sayd, My lorde, O King, this is the woman, and this is her sonne, whom Elisha restored to life.

Och just som han förtäljde för konungen huru han hade gjort en död levande, då kom den kvinna vilkens son han hade gjort levande och anropade konungen om att återfå sitt hus och sin åker. Då sade Gehasi: "Min herre konung, detta är kvinnan, och detta är hennes son, den som Elisa har gjort levande."

6 And when the King asked the woman, shee told him: so the King appoynted her an Eunuch, saying, Restore thou all that are hers, and all the fruites of her landes since the day shee left the land, euen vntill this time.

Då frågade konungen kvinnan, och hon förtäljde allt för honom. Sedan lät konungen henne få en hovman med sig och sade: "Skaffa tillbaka allt vad som tillhör henne, och därtill all avkastning av åkern, från den dag då hon lämnade landet ända till nu."

7 Then Elisha came to Damascus, and Ben-hadad the King of Aram was sicke, and one told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.

Och Elisa kom till Damaskus, under det att Ben-Hadad, konungen i Aram, låg sjuk. När man nu berättade för denne att gudsmannen hade kommit dit,

8 And the king sayd vnto Hazael, Take a present in thine hande, and goe meete the man of God, that thou mayest inquire of ye Lord by him, saying, Shall I recouer of this disease?

sade konungen till Hasael: "Tag skänker med dig och gå gudsmannen till mötes, och fråga HERREN genom honom om jag skall tillfriskna från denna sjukdom.

9 So Hazael went to meete him, and tooke the present in his hand, and of euery good thing of Damascus, euen the burden of fourtie camels, and came and stood before him, and sayde, Thy sonne Ben-hadad King of Aram hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recouer of this disease?

Så gick då Hasael honom till mötes och tog med sig skänker, allt det bästa som fanns i Damaskus, så mycket som fyrtio kameler kunde bära. Och han kom och trädde fram för honom och sade: "Din son Ben-Hadad, konungen i Aram, har sänt mig till dig och låter fråga: 'Skall jag tillfriskna från denna sjukdom?'"

10 And Elisha sayd to him, Goe, and say vnto him, Thou shalt recouer: howbeit the Lord hath shewed me, that he shall surely dye.

Elisa svarade honom: "Gå och säg till honom: 'Du skall tillfriskna.' Men HERREN har uppenbarat för mig att han likväl skall dö."

11 And hee looked vpon him stedfastly, till Hazael was ashamed, and the man of God wept.

Och gudsmannen stirrade framför sig och betraktade honom länge och väl; därefter begynte han gråta.

12 And Hazael sayde, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I knowe the euill that thou shalt do vnto the children of Israel: for their strong cities shalt thou set on fire, and their yong men shalt thou slay with the sworde, and shalt dash their infantes against the stones, and rent in pieces their women with child.

Då sade Hasael: "Varför gråter min herre?" Han svarade: "Därför att jag vet huru mycket ont du skall göra Israels barn: du skall sätta eld på deras fästen, deras unga män skall du dräpa med svärd, deras späda barn skall du krossa, och deras havande kvinnor skall du upprista."

13 Then Hazael said, What? is thy seruant a dog, that I should doe this great thing? And Elisha answered, The Lord hath shewed mee, that thou shalt be King of Aram.

Hasael sade: "Vad är väl din tjänare, den hunden, eftersom han skulle kunna göra så stora ting?" Elisa svarade: "HERREN har uppenbarat för mig att du skall bliva konung över Aram."

14 So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him, What saide Elisha to thee? And he answered, Hee tolde mee that thou shouldest recouer.

Och han gick ifrån Elisa och kom till sin herre. Då frågade denne honom: "Vad sade Elisa till dig?" Han svarade: "Han sade till mig att du skall tillfriskna."

15 And on the morow he tooke a thick cloth and dipt in it water, and spread it on his face, and hee dyed: and Hazael reigned in his stead.

Men dagen därefter tog han täcket och doppade det i vatten och bredde ut det över hans ansikte; detta blev hans död. Och Hasael blev konung efter honom.

16 Now in the fift yere of Ioram ye sonne of Ahab King of Israel, and of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, Iehoram the sonne of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah began to reigne.

I Jorams, Ahabs sons, Israels konungs, femte regeringsår, medan Josafat var konung i Juda, blev Joram, Josafats son, konung i Juda.

17 He was two and thirtie yere olde, when he began to reigne: and hee reigned eight yeere in Ierusalem.

Han var trettiotvå år gammal, när han blev konung, och han regerade åtta år i Jerusalem.

18 And hee walked in the wayes of the Kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife, and hee did euill in the sight of the Lord.

Men han vandrade på Israels konungars väg, såsom Ahabs hus hade gjort, ty en dotter till Ahab var hans hustru; han gjorde vad ont var i HERRENS ögon.

19 Yet the Lord would not destroy Iudah, for Dauid his seruants sake, as he had promised him to giue him a light, and to his children for euer.

Dock ville HERREN icke fördärva Juda, för sin tjänare Davids skull, enligt sitt löfte till honom, att han skulle låta honom och hans söner hava en lampa för alltid.

20 In those dayes Edom rebelled from vnder the hand of Iudah, and made a King ouer themselues.

I hans tid avföll Edom från Juda välde och satte en egen konung över sig.

21 Therefore Ioram went to Zair, and all his charets with him, and he arose by night, and smote the Edomites which were about him with the captains of the charets, and the people fled into their tents.

Då drog Joram över till Sair med alla sina stridsvagnar. Och om natten gjorde han ett anfall på edoméerna, som hade omringat honom, och slog dem och hövitsmannen över deras vagnar, men folket flydde till sina hyddor.

22 So Edom rebelled from vnder the hand of Iudah vnto this day. then Libnah rebelled at that same time.

Så avföll Edom från Juda välde, och det har varit skilt därifrån ända till denna dag. Vid just samma tid avföll ock Libna.

23 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ioram and all that hee did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?

Vad nu mer är att säga om Joram och om allt vad han gjorde, det finnes upptecknat i Juda konungars krönika.

24 And Ioram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the citie of Dauid. And Ahaziah his sonne reigned in his stead.

Och Joram gick till vila hos sina fäder och blev begraven hos sina fäder i Davids stad. Och hans son Ahasja blev konung efter honom.

25 In the twelft yere of Ioram the sonne of Ahab King of Israel did Ahaziah the sonne of Iehoram King of Iudah begin to reigne.

I Jorams, Ahabs sons, Israels konungs, tolfte regeringsår blev Ahasja, Jorams son, konung i Juda.

26 Two and twentie yeere olde was Ahaziah when he began to reigne, and he reigned one yere in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri King of Israel.

Tjugutvå år gammal var Ahasja, när han blev konung, och han regerade ett år i Jerusalem. Hans moder hette Atalja, dotter till Omri, Israels konung.

27 And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did euill in the sight of the Lord, like the house of Ahab: for hee was the sonne in law of the house of Ahab.

Han vandrade på Ahabs hus' väg och gjorde vad ont var i HERRENS ögon likasom Ahabs hus; han var ju nära besläktad med Ahabs hus.

28 And he went with Ioram the sonne of Ahab to warre against Hazael King of Aram in Ramoth Gilead, and the Aramites smote Ioram.

Och han drog åstad med Joram, Ahabs son, och stridde mot Hasael, konungen i Aram, vid Ramot Gilead. Men Joram blev sårad av araméerna.

29 And King Ioram returned to bee healed in Izreel of the wounds which ye Aramites had giuen him at Ramah, whe he fought against Hazael King of Aram. And Ahaziah the sonne of Iehoram King of Iudah went downe to see Ioram the sonne of Ahab in Izreel, because he was sicke.

Då vände konung Joram tillbaka, för att i Jisreel låta hela sig från de sår som araméerna hade tillfogat honom vid Rama, i striden mot Hasael, konungen i Aram. Och Ahasja, Jorams son, Juda konung, for ned för att besöka Joram, Ahabs son, i Jisreel, eftersom denne låg sjuk.
