2 Kings 8
1 Then spake Elisha vnto the woman, whose sonne he had restored to life, saying, Vp, and goe, thou, and thine house, and soiourne where thou canst soiourne: for the Lord hath called for a famine, and it commeth also vpon the land seuen yeeres.
Eliseo dijo a la mujer cuyo hijo había resucitado: “Levántate y vete, tú y tu casa, y habita donde quieras, pues Yahvé ha llamado el hambre, la cual vendrá sobre el país por siete años.”
2 And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God, and went both shee and her housholde and soiourned in the lande of the Philistims seuen yeeres.
Se levantó la mujer, e hizo según la palabra del varón de Dios. Se marchó, con su familia y moró en el país de los filisteos durante siete años.
3 And at the seuen yeeres ende, the woman returned out of the lande of the Philistims, and went out to call vpon the King for her house and for her land.
Transcurridos los siete años, la mujer regresó del país de los filisteos; y fue a reclamar ante el rey su casa y su campo.
4 And the King talked with Gehazi the seruant of the man of God, saying, Tell mee, I pray thee, all the great actes, that Elisha hath done.
El rey estaba hablando con Giecí, criado del varón de Dios, y le decía: “Cuéntame, te ruego, todas las maravillas que ha hecho Eliseo.”
5 And as he told the King, howe he had restored one dead to life, behold, the woman, whose sonne he had raised to life, called vpon the King for her house and for her land. Then Gehazi sayd, My lorde, O King, this is the woman, and this is her sonne, whom Elisha restored to life.
Y mientras estaba contando al rey cómo (Eliseo) había resucitado a un muerto, he aquí que esa mujer cuyo hijo (el profeta) había resucitado, vino a reclamar ante el rey su casa y su campo. Dijo entonces Giecí: “¡Oh, rey, señor mío, esta es la mujer, y este es su hijo, a quien Eliseo ha resucitado!”
6 And when the King asked the woman, shee told him: so the King appoynted her an Eunuch, saying, Restore thou all that are hers, and all the fruites of her landes since the day shee left the land, euen vntill this time.
El rey preguntó a la mujer, la cual le informó; y el rey le dio un eunuco, a quien dijo: “Haz que se le restituya a ella todo lo suyo, con todos los frutos de su campo, desde el día que dejó el país hasta ahora.”
7 Then Elisha came to Damascus, and Ben-hadad the King of Aram was sicke, and one told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.
Vino Eliseo a Damasco, cuando Benhadad, rey de Siria, estaba enfermo. Avisaron a este, diciendo: “Ha llegado aquí el varón de Dios.”
8 And the king sayd vnto Hazael, Take a present in thine hande, and goe meete the man of God, that thou mayest inquire of ye Lord by him, saying, Shall I recouer of this disease?
Y dijo el rey a Hazael: “Toma contigo un regalo, y vete a encontrar al varón de Dios, y consulta por medio de él a Yahvé si sanaré de esta enfermedad.”
9 So Hazael went to meete him, and tooke the present in his hand, and of euery good thing of Damascus, euen the burden of fourtie camels, and came and stood before him, and sayde, Thy sonne Ben-hadad King of Aram hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recouer of this disease?
Fue, pues, Hazael a encontrarle, llevando consigo regalos de todo lo precioso que había en Damasco: una carga de cuarenta camellos. Y llegado, se presentó delante de él, diciendo: “Tu hijo Benhadad, rey de Siria, me envía a ti para preguntar: «¿Sanaré de esta enfermedad?»”
10 And Elisha sayd to him, Goe, and say vnto him, Thou shalt recouer: howbeit the Lord hath shewed me, that he shall surely dye.
Respondió Eliseo: “Ve y dile: «Sanarás seguramente»; pero Yahvé me ha revelado que morirá sin remedio.”
11 And hee looked vpon him stedfastly, till Hazael was ashamed, and the man of God wept.
Luego fijó sus ojos (sobre Hazael) y lo hizo así hasta que este se avergonzó. Luego el varón de Dios rompió a llorar.
12 And Hazael sayde, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I knowe the euill that thou shalt do vnto the children of Israel: for their strong cities shalt thou set on fire, and their yong men shalt thou slay with the sworde, and shalt dash their infantes against the stones, and rent in pieces their women with child.
Hazael le preguntó: “¿Por qué llora mi señor?” Respondió: “Porque conozco el mal que vas a hacer a los hijos de Israel. Entregarás a las llamas sus plazas fuertes, pasarás a cuchillo a sus mancebos, estrellarás a sus pequeñitos, y rajarás a sus mujeres encintas.”
13 Then Hazael said, What? is thy seruant a dog, that I should doe this great thing? And Elisha answered, The Lord hath shewed mee, that thou shalt be King of Aram.
Respondió Hazael: “Pues ¿qué es tu siervo, este perro, para hacer cosa tan grande?” Eliseo le replicó: “Yahvé me ha hecho ver que tú serás rey de Siria.”
14 So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him, What saide Elisha to thee? And he answered, Hee tolde mee that thou shouldest recouer.
Dejó entonces a Eliseo y volvió a su señor, el cual le preguntó: “¿Qué te ha dicho Eliseo?” Él contestó: “Me ha dicho: Seguramente sanarás.”
15 And on the morow he tooke a thick cloth and dipt in it water, and spread it on his face, and hee dyed: and Hazael reigned in his stead.
Mas al día siguiente tomó un paño, lo empapó en agua y tapó con él el rostro (del rey), el cual murió; y reinó Hazael en su lugar.
16 Now in the fift yere of Ioram ye sonne of Ahab King of Israel, and of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, Iehoram the sonne of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah began to reigne.
El año quinto de Joram, hijo de Acab, rey de Israel, y siendo Josafat aún rey en Judá, empezó a reinar Joram, hijo de Josafat, rey de Judá.
17 He was two and thirtie yere olde, when he began to reigne: and hee reigned eight yeere in Ierusalem.
Treinta y dos años tenía cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.
18 And hee walked in the wayes of the Kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife, and hee did euill in the sight of the Lord.
Siguió el camino de los reyes de Israel, como lo había hecho la casa de Acab, porque la hija de Acab era su mujer; e hizo lo malo a los ojos de Yahvé.
19 Yet the Lord would not destroy Iudah, for Dauid his seruants sake, as he had promised him to giue him a light, and to his children for euer.
Pero Yahvé no quiso destruir a Judá, por amor de David, su siervo, según la promesa que le había dado de conservarle siempre una lámpara, a él y a sus hijos.
20 In those dayes Edom rebelled from vnder the hand of Iudah, and made a King ouer themselues.
En sus días se rebelaron los idumeos contra el dominio de Judá, y pusieron sobre sí un rey.
21 Therefore Ioram went to Zair, and all his charets with him, and he arose by night, and smote the Edomites which were about him with the captains of the charets, and the people fled into their tents.
Por eso Joram marchó a Seír, y con él todos los carros. Y levantándose de noche, derrotó a los idumeos, que le habían cercado a él y a los capitanes de los carros, mas el pueblo huyó a sus tiendas.
22 So Edom rebelled from vnder the hand of Iudah vnto this day. then Libnah rebelled at that same time.
Así Edom se libró del dominio de Judá hasta el día de hoy. Entonces, al mismo tiempo, se rebeló también Lobná.
23 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ioram and all that hee did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
Las demás cosas de Joram, y todo lo que hizo, ¿no está esto escrito en el libro de los anales de los reyes de Judá?
24 And Ioram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the citie of Dauid. And Ahaziah his sonne reigned in his stead.
Se durmió Joram con sus padres, y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David; y reinó en su lugar su hijo Ococías.
25 In the twelft yere of Ioram the sonne of Ahab King of Israel did Ahaziah the sonne of Iehoram King of Iudah begin to reigne.
El año doce de Joram, hijo de Acab, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Ococías, hijo de Joram, rey de Judá.
26 Two and twentie yeere olde was Ahaziah when he began to reigne, and he reigned one yere in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri King of Israel.
Veinte y dos años tenía Ococías cuando empezó a reinar, y reinó un año en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Atalía, hija de Amrí, rey de Israel.
27 And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did euill in the sight of the Lord, like the house of Ahab: for hee was the sonne in law of the house of Ahab.
Siguió el camino de la casa de Acab, e hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, como la casa de Acab; siendo como era yerno de la casa de Acab.
28 And he went with Ioram the sonne of Ahab to warre against Hazael King of Aram in Ramoth Gilead, and the Aramites smote Ioram.
Estuvo con Joram, hijo de Acab, en la guerra contra Hazael, rey de Siria, en Ramot-Galaad, donde los sirios derrotaron a Joram.
29 And King Ioram returned to bee healed in Izreel of the wounds which ye Aramites had giuen him at Ramah, whe he fought against Hazael King of Aram. And Ahaziah the sonne of Iehoram King of Iudah went downe to see Ioram the sonne of Ahab in Izreel, because he was sicke.
El rey Joram volvió para curarse en Jesreel de las heridas que los sirios le habían causado en Ramá, cuando estaba en guerra con Hazael, rey de Siria. Ococías, hijo de Joram, rey de Judá, bajó entonces a Jesreel para ver a Joram, hijo de Acab, que estaba enfermo.
