2 Kings 8
1 Then spake Elisha vnto the woman, whose sonne he had restored to life, saying, Vp, and goe, thou, and thine house, and soiourne where thou canst soiourne: for the Lord hath called for a famine, and it commeth also vpon the land seuen yeeres.
૧જે સ્ત્રીના દીકરાને એલિશાએ સજીવન કર્યો હતો તેને તેણે કહ્યું, “ઊઠ, તું તારા કુટુંબનાં માણસોને લઈને ચાલી જા અને બીજા દેશમાં જ્યાં જઈને તારાથી રહેવાય ત્યાં રહે, કેમ કે, યહોવાહે દુકાળનો હુકમ કર્યો છે. દેશમાં સાત વર્ષ સુધી દુકાળ ચાલુ રહેશે.”
2 And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God, and went both shee and her housholde and soiourned in the lande of the Philistims seuen yeeres.
૨તેથી તે સ્ત્રીએ ઊઠીને ઈશ્વરભક્તના કહેવા પ્રમાણે કર્યું. તે તેના કુટુંબનાં માણસોને લઈને ચાલી નીકળી અને જઈને સાત વર્ષ સુધી પલિસ્તીઓના દેશમાં રહી.
3 And at the seuen yeeres ende, the woman returned out of the lande of the Philistims, and went out to call vpon the King for her house and for her land.
૩સાતમા વર્ષને અંતે તે સ્ત્રી પલિસ્તીઓના દેશમાંથી પાછી આવી. અને પોતાના ઘર અને જમીન માટે રાજા પાસે વિનંતી કરવા ગઈ.
4 And the King talked with Gehazi the seruant of the man of God, saying, Tell mee, I pray thee, all the great actes, that Elisha hath done.
૪હવે રાજા ઈશ્વરભક્તના ચાકર ગેહઝી સાથે એવી વાત કરતો હતો, “એલિશાએ જે મોટા કામો કર્યાં છે તે કૃપા કરીને મને કહે.”
5 And as he told the King, howe he had restored one dead to life, behold, the woman, whose sonne he had raised to life, called vpon the King for her house and for her land. Then Gehazi sayd, My lorde, O King, this is the woman, and this is her sonne, whom Elisha restored to life.
૫એલિશાએ મરણ પામેલાં બાળકને કેવી રીતે સજીવન કર્યો હતો, તે વાત ગેહઝી રાજાને કરતો હતો. ત્યારે જે સ્ત્રીના દીકરાને એલિશાએ સજીવન કર્યો હતો તેણે આવીને રાજાને પોતાના ઘર અને જમીન માટે વિનંતી કરી. ગેહઝીએ કહ્યું, “મારા માલિક, રાજા, આ જ તે સ્ત્રી છે અને આ જ તેનો દીકરો છે, તેને એલિશાએ સજીવન કર્યો હતો.”
6 And when the King asked the woman, shee told him: so the King appoynted her an Eunuch, saying, Restore thou all that are hers, and all the fruites of her landes since the day shee left the land, euen vntill this time.
૬રાજાએ તે સ્ત્રીને તેના દીકરા વિષે પૂછ્યું, તેણે તેને બધી વાત કહી. તેથી રાજાએ તેના માટે એક ખાસ અધિકારીને આજ્ઞા આપીને કહ્યું, “તેનું જે હતું તે બધું અને તેણે દેશ છોડયો તે દિવસથી આજ સુધીની તેના ખેતરની બધી જ ઊપજ તેને પાછી આપ.”
7 Then Elisha came to Damascus, and Ben-hadad the King of Aram was sicke, and one told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.
૭પછી એલિશા દમસ્કસમાં ગયો તે સમયે અરામનો રાજા બેન-હદાદ બીમાર હતો. રાજાને એવી ખબર મળી કે, “ઈશ્વરભક્ત અહીં આવ્યો છે.”
8 And the king sayd vnto Hazael, Take a present in thine hande, and goe meete the man of God, that thou mayest inquire of ye Lord by him, saying, Shall I recouer of this disease?
૮રાજાએ હઝાએલને કહ્યું, “તારા હાથમાં ભેટ લઈને ઈશ્વરભક્તને મળવા જા, તેની મારફતે યહોવાહને પુછાવ કે, ‘શું હું આ બીમારીમાંથી સાજો થઈશ?’”
9 So Hazael went to meete him, and tooke the present in his hand, and of euery good thing of Damascus, euen the burden of fourtie camels, and came and stood before him, and sayde, Thy sonne Ben-hadad King of Aram hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recouer of this disease?
૯માટે હઝાએલ તેની સાથે દમસ્કસની સારી મૂલ્યવાન વસ્તુઓ ચાલીસ ઊંટો પર એ વસ્તુઓ ભેટ તરીકે લઈને તેને મળવા ગયો. હઝાએલે આવીને એલિશા આગળ આવીને કહ્યું, “તારા દીકરા અરામના રાજા બેન-હદાદે મને તારી પાસે એવું પૂછવા મોકલ્યો છે કે, ‘શું હું આ બીમારીમાંથી સાજો થઈશ?’”
10 And Elisha sayd to him, Goe, and say vnto him, Thou shalt recouer: howbeit the Lord hath shewed me, that he shall surely dye.
૧૦એલિશાએ તેને કહ્યું, “જઈને બેન-હદાદને કહે કે, ‘તું નિશ્ચે સાજો થશે.’ પણ યહોવાહે તો મને એવું બતાવ્યું છે કે તે નિશ્ચે મરણ પામશે.”
11 And hee looked vpon him stedfastly, till Hazael was ashamed, and the man of God wept.
૧૧પછી હઝાએલ શરમાઈ ગયો. એલિશા તેની સામે જોઈ રહ્યો, હઝાએલ એટલો બધો શરમિંદો પડ્યો કે ઈશ્વરભક્ત રડી પડયો.
12 And Hazael sayde, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I knowe the euill that thou shalt do vnto the children of Israel: for their strong cities shalt thou set on fire, and their yong men shalt thou slay with the sworde, and shalt dash their infantes against the stones, and rent in pieces their women with child.
૧૨હઝાએલે પૂછ્યું, “મારા માલિક, તું કેમ રડે છે?” તેણે કહ્યું, “કેમ કે, તું ઇઝરાયલી લોકો સાથે જે દુષ્ટતા કરવાનો છે તે હું જાણું છું માટે. તેઓના કિલ્લાઓને તું બાળી મૂકીશ, તેઓના જુવાનોની તું તલવારથી કતલ કરીશ, તેઓના બાળકોને તું જોરથી પછાડીને ટુકડાં કરીશ અને તેઓની ગર્ભવતી સ્ત્રીઓને તું ચીરી નાખીશ.”
13 Then Hazael said, What? is thy seruant a dog, that I should doe this great thing? And Elisha answered, The Lord hath shewed mee, that thou shalt be King of Aram.
૧૩હઝાએલે કહ્યું, “તારો સેવક એક કૂતરા તુલ્ય છે, તે કોણ છે કે આવાં કામ કરે?” એલિશાએ કહ્યું, “યહોવાહે મને બતાવ્યું છે કે તું અરામનો રાજા થશે.”
14 So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him, What saide Elisha to thee? And he answered, Hee tolde mee that thou shouldest recouer.
૧૪પછી હઝાએલ એલિશા પાસેથી રવાના થઈને પોતાના માલિક પાસે આવ્યો. તેણે તેને પૂછ્યું, “એલિશાએ તને શું કહ્યું?” તેણે જવાબ આપ્યો, “તેણે મને કહ્યું તું નિશ્ચે સાજો થશે.”
15 And on the morow he tooke a thick cloth and dipt in it water, and spread it on his face, and hee dyed: and Hazael reigned in his stead.
૧૫પછી બીજે દિવસે હઝાએલે ધાબળો લઈને તેને પાણીમાં પલાળીને રાજાના મોં પર ઓઢાડ્યો તેથી તે મરણ પામ્યો. અને તેની જગ્યાએ હઝાએલ રાજા થયો.
16 Now in the fift yere of Ioram ye sonne of Ahab King of Israel, and of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, Iehoram the sonne of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah began to reigne.
૧૬ઇઝરાયલના રાજા આહાબના દીકરા યોરામના શાસનકાળના પાચમાં વર્ષે યહોરામ રાજ કરવા લાગ્યો. તે યહૂદિયાના રાજા યહોશાફાટનો દીકરો હતો. જ્યારે યહોશાફાટ યહૂદિયાનો રાજા હતો ત્યારે યહોરામ રાજ કરવા લાગ્યો.
17 He was two and thirtie yere olde, when he began to reigne: and hee reigned eight yeere in Ierusalem.
૧૭યહોરામ રાજા બન્યો ત્યારે તે બત્રીસ વર્ષનો હતો, તેણે યરુશાલેમમાં આઠ વર્ષ રાજ કર્યું.
18 And hee walked in the wayes of the Kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife, and hee did euill in the sight of the Lord.
૧૮આહાબના કુટુંબે જેમ કર્યું હતું તેમ તે ઇઝરાયલના રાજાઓને માર્ગે ચાલ્યો, કેમ કે તેણે આહાબની દીકરી સાથે લગ્ન કર્યું હતું. અને તેણે યહોવાહની દ્રષ્ટિમાં જે ખોટું હતું તે કર્યું.
19 Yet the Lord would not destroy Iudah, for Dauid his seruants sake, as he had promised him to giue him a light, and to his children for euer.
૧૯તો પણ પોતાના સેવક દાઉદને લીધે યહોવાહ યહૂદિયાનો નાશ કરવા ચાહતા નહોતા, કારણ કે તેઓએ તેને કહ્યું હતું, તે હંમેશા તેઓને વારસો આપશે.
20 In those dayes Edom rebelled from vnder the hand of Iudah, and made a King ouer themselues.
૨૦યહોરામના દિવસોમાં અદોમે યહૂદિયાના હાથ નીચે બળવો કરીને પોતાના માટે એક રાજા ઠરાવ્યો.
21 Therefore Ioram went to Zair, and all his charets with him, and he arose by night, and smote the Edomites which were about him with the captains of the charets, and the people fled into their tents.
૨૧ત્યારે યોરામ પોતાના બધા રથો અને સેનાપતિઓને લઈને સાઈર ગયો. અને તેણે રાત્રે ઊઠીને પોતાની આસપાસના અદોમીઓ તથા રથાધિપતિઓ પર હુમલો કર્યો. પછી યહોરામના સૈનિકો અને લોકો પોતાના ઘરે નાસી ગયા.
22 So Edom rebelled from vnder the hand of Iudah vnto this day. then Libnah rebelled at that same time.
૨૨આ રીતે અદોમે આજ સુધી યહૂદિયાની સત્તા સામે બળવો કરેલો છે. લિબ્નાહએ પણ તે જ સમયે બળવો કર્યો હતો.
23 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ioram and all that hee did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
૨૩યોરામનાં બાકીનાં કાર્યો અને તેણે જે કંઈ કર્યું તે બધું યહૂદિયાના રાજાઓના કાળવૃત્તાંતના પુસ્તકમાં લખેલાં નથી શું?
24 And Ioram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the citie of Dauid. And Ahaziah his sonne reigned in his stead.
૨૪ત્યાર પછી યોરામ તેના પિતૃઓ સાથે ઊંઘી ગયો, તેને દાઉદનગરમાં તેના પિતૃઓ સાથે દફનાવવામાં આવ્યો. પછી તેનો દીકરો અહાઝયાહ તેની જગ્યાએ રાજા બન્યો.
25 In the twelft yere of Ioram the sonne of Ahab King of Israel did Ahaziah the sonne of Iehoram King of Iudah begin to reigne.
૨૫ઇઝરાયલના રાજા આહાબના દીકરા યોરામના શાસનકાળના બારમા વર્ષે યહૂદિયાના રાજા યોરામનો દીકરો અહાઝયાહ રાજ કરવા લાગ્યો.
26 Two and twentie yeere olde was Ahaziah when he began to reigne, and he reigned one yere in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri King of Israel.
૨૬અહાઝયાહ રાજા થયો ત્યારે તે બાવીસ વર્ષનો હતો; તેણે યરુશાલેમમાં એક વર્ષ રાજ કર્યું. તેની માતાનું નામ અથાલ્યા હતું, તે ઇઝરાયલના રાજા ઓમ્રીની દીકરી હતી.
27 And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did euill in the sight of the Lord, like the house of Ahab: for hee was the sonne in law of the house of Ahab.
૨૭અહાઝયાહ આહાબના કુટુંબને માર્ગે ચાલ્યો, જેમ આહાબના કુટુંબે કર્યું તેમ તેણે યહોવાહની દ્રષ્ટિમાં જે ખોટું હતું તે કર્યું. કેમ કે, તે આહાબના કુટુંબનો જમાઈ હતો.
28 And he went with Ioram the sonne of Ahab to warre against Hazael King of Aram in Ramoth Gilead, and the Aramites smote Ioram.
૨૮અહાઝયાહ આહાબના દીકરા યોરામ સાથે અરામના રાજા હઝાએલ સામે રામોથ ગિલ્યાદ આગળ યુદ્ધ કરવા ગયો. અરામીઓએ યોરામને ઘાયલ કર્યો.
29 And King Ioram returned to bee healed in Izreel of the wounds which ye Aramites had giuen him at Ramah, whe he fought against Hazael King of Aram. And Ahaziah the sonne of Iehoram King of Iudah went downe to see Ioram the sonne of Ahab in Izreel, because he was sicke.
૨૯અરામનો રાજા હઝાએલ સામે યુદ્ધ કરતો હતો, ત્યારે અરામીઓએ તેને રામા આગળ જે ઘા કર્યા હતા તે રુઝવવા માટે યોરામ રાજા પાછો યિઝ્રએલ આવ્યો. યહૂદિયાના રાજા યહોરામનો દીકરો અહાઝયાહ યિઝ્રએલમાં આહાબના દીકરા યોરામને જોવા આવ્યો, કેમ કે યોરામ ઘાયલ થયેલો હતો.
