2 Kings 7

1 Then Elisha saide, Heare ye the worde of the Lord: thus saith the Lord, To morowe this time a measure of fine floure shalbe solde for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel in the gate of Samaria.

الیشع جواب داد: «خداوند می‌فرماید که فردا همین وقت کنار دروازهٔ سامره با یک مثقال نقره می‌توانید سه کیلو آرد یا شش کیلو جو بخرید.»

2 Then a prince, on whose hande the King leaned, answered the man of God, and saide, Though the Lord would make windowes in the heauen, could this thing come to passe? And he said, Beholde, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not eate thereof.

افسری که ملتزم پادشاه بود، گفت: «حتی اگر خداوند از آسمان غله بفرستد، این که تو می‌گویی عملی نخواهد شد.» الیشع به او گفت: «تو با چشمان خود آن را خواهی دید، ولی از آن نخواهی خورد.»

3 Nowe there were foure leprous men at the entring in of the gate: and they saide one to an other, Why sitte we here vntill we die?

در این هنگام چهار مرد جذامی بیرون دروازهٔ شهر بودند. آنها به یکدیگر گفتند: «چرا اینجا بنشینیم و بمیریم؟

4 If we say, We will enter into the citie, the famine is in the citie, and we shall die there: and if we sit here, we dye also. Nowe therefore come, and let vs fall into the campe of the Aramites: if they saue our liues, we shall liue: and if they kill vs, we are but dead.

چه اینجا بمانیم و چه وارد شهر شویم، از گرسنگی خواهیم مرد. پس چه بهتر که به اردوگاه سوری‌ها برویم. اگر گذاشتند زنده بمانیم چه بهتر و اگر ما را کشتند، باز هم فرقی نمی‌کند، چون دیر یا زود از گرسنگی خواهیم مرد.»

5 So they rose vp in the twilight, to goe to the campe of the Aramites: and when they were come to the vtmost part of the campe of the Aramites, loe, there was no man there.

پس آن شب برخاسته، به اردوگاه سوری‌ها رفتند، ولی کسی آنجا نبود.

6 For the Lord had caused the campe of the Aramites to heare a noyse of charets and a noise of horses, and a noise of a great armie, so that they sayde one to another, Beholde, the King of Israel hath hired against vs the Kings of the Hittites, and the Kings of the Egyptians to come vpon vs.

چون خداوند صدای ارابه‌ها و اسبان و صدای لشکر عظیمی را در اردوی سوری‌ها پیچانده بود، به طوری که آنها فکر کرده بودند پادشاه اسرائیل پادشاهان حیت و مصر را اجیر کرده، تا به آنها حمله کنند؛

7 Wherefore they arose, and fled in the twilight, and left their tentes and their horses, and their asses, euen the campe as it was, and fledde for their liues.

پس هراسان شده، شبانه خیمه‌ها، اسبها، الاغها و چیزهای دیگر را که در اردوگاه بود گذاشته، از ترس جان خود فرار کرده بودند.

8 And when these lepers came to the vtmost part of the campe, they entred into one tent, and did eate and drinke, and caryed thence siluer and golde, and raiment, and went and hid it: after they returned, and entred into another tent, and caryed thence also, and went and hid it.

جذامی‌ها وقتی به کنار اردوگاه رسیدند، به خیمه‌ها داخل شده، خوردند و نوشیدند و نقره و طلا و لباسی را که در خیمه بود با خود بردند و پنهان کردند. سپس وارد خیمهٔ دوم شده، اموال آن را نیز برداشتند و پنهان کردند.

9 Then saide one to another, We doe not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we holde our peace. if we tary till day light, some mischiefe will come vpon vs. Nowe therefore, come, let vs goe, and tell the Kings housholde.

ولی بعد به یکدیگر گفتند: «ما کار خوبی نمی‌کنیم. نباید ساکت بنشینیم؛ باید این خبر خوش را به همه برسانیم. اگر تا فردا صبح صبر کنیم بلایی بر سرمان خواهد آمد. بیایید فوری برگردیم و این خبر خوش را به قصر پادشاه برسانیم.»

10 So they came, and called vnto the porters of the citie, and tolde them, saying, We came to the campe of the Aramites, and loe, there was no man there, neither voyce of man, but horses tyed and asses tyed: and the tents are as they were.

پس آنها رفتند و آنچه را که اتفاق افتاده بود به نگهبانان دروازهٔ شهر خبر داده، گفتند: «ما به اردوگاه سوری‌ها رفتیم و کسی در آنجا نبود. اسبها و الاغها و خیمه‌ها سرجایشان بودند، ولی حتی یک نفر هم در آن حوالی دیده نمی‌شد.»

11 And the porters cryed and declared to the Kings house within.

نگهبانان نیز این خبر را به دربار رساندند.

12 Then the King arose in the night, and saide vnto his seruants, I wil shew you now, what the Aramites haue done vnto vs. They know that we are affamished, therefore they are gone out of the campe to hide them selues in the fielde, saying, When they come out of the citie, we shall catch them aliue, and get into the citie.

پادشاه از رختخوابش بیرون آمد و به افرادش گفت: «من به شما می‌گویم که چه شده است. سوری‌ها می‌دانند که ما گرسنه هستیم، پس برای اینکه ما را از شهر بیرون بکشند، از اردوگاه بیرون رفته، خود را در صحرا پنهان کرده‌اند. آنها در این فکر هستند که وقتی از شهر خارج شدیم به ما هجوم بیاورند و اسیرمان کنند و شهر را به تصرف خود درآورند.»

13 And one of his seruants answered, and said, Let me take now fiue of the horses that remaine, and are left in the citie, (behold, they are euen as all the multitude of Israel that are left therein: beholde, I say, they are as the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed) and we wil send to see.

یکی از درباریان در جواب او گفت: «بهتر است چند نفر را با پنج اسبی که برای ما باقی مانده به آنجا بفرستیم و موضوع را تحقیق کنیم. مردم اینجا همه محکوم به مرگ هستند، پس بهتر است به هر قیمتی شده این را امتحان کنیم.»

14 So they tooke two charets of horses, and the King sent after the hoste of the Aramites, saying, Goe and see.

پس دو ارابه با اسبهای باقیمانده حاضر کردند و پادشاه چند نفر را فرستاد تا ببیند چه بر سر لشکر سوری آمده است.

15 And they went after them vnto Iorden, and loe, all the way was full of clothes and vessels which the Aramites had cast from them in their hast: and the messengers returned, and told ye King.

آنها رد پای سوری‌ها را تا کنار رود اردن دنبال کردند. تمام جاده از لباس و ظروفی که سوری‌ها در حین فرار به زمین انداخته بودند، پر بود. مأموران بازگشتند و به پادشاه خبر دادند که سربازان سوری همه فرار کرده‌اند.

16 Then the people went out and spoyled the campe of the Aramites: so a measure of fine floure was at a shekel, and two measures of barley at a shekel according to the word of the Lord.

به محض شنیدن این خبر، مردم سامره هجوم بردند و اردوگاه سوری‌ها را غارت کردند. پس همان‌گونه که خداوند فرموده بود، در آن روز سه کیلو آرد به یک مثقال نقره و شش کیلو جو به همان قیمت فروخته شد.

17 And the King gaue the prince (on whose hande he leaned) the charge of the gate, and the people trode vpon him in the gate, and he dyed, as the man of God had saide, which spake it, when the King came downe to him.

پادشاه ملتزم خود را دم دروازهٔ شهر گذاشت تا بر رفت و آمد مردم نظارت کند. ولی هنگامی که مردم هجوم آوردند، او زیر دست و پای آنها کشته شد، همان‌گونه که الیشع، وقتی پادشاه به خانهٔ او آمده بود، آن را پیشگویی کرد.

18 And it came to passe, as the man of God had spoken to the King, saying, Two measures of barley at a shekel, and a measure of fine floure shall be at a shekel, to morowe about this time in the gate of Samaria.

الیشع به پادشاه گفته بود که روز بعد، کنار دروازهٔ شهر، شش کیلو جو و سه کیلو آرد هر یک به یک مثقال نقره فروخته خواهد شد.

19 But the prince had answered the man of God, and saide, Though the Lord would make windowes in the heauen, coulde it come so to passe? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not eate thereof.

ولی ملتزم پادشاه جواب داده بود: «حتی اگر خداوند از آسمان غله بفرستد، این که تو می‌گویی عملی نخواهد شد.» و الیشع نیز به او گفته بود: «تو با چشمان خود آن را خواهی دید، ولی از آن نخواهی خورد.»

20 And so it came vnto him: for the people trode vpon him in the gate, and he dyed.

درست همین‌طور شد؛ او در کنار دروازه، زیر دست و پای مردم ماند و کشته شد.
