2 Kings 17
1 In the twelft yeere of Ahaz King of Iudah began Hoshea the sonne of Elah to reigne in Samaria ouer Israel, and reigned nine yeeres.
La douzième année d’Achaz, roi de Juda, Osée, fils d’Éla, commença de régner à Samarie sur Israël; [il régna] neuf ans.
2 And he did euill in the sight of the Lord, but not as the Kinges of Israel, that were before him.
Et il fit ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de l’Éternel, non pas toutefois comme les rois d’Israël qui avaient été avant lui.
3 And Shalmaneser king of Asshur came vp against him, and Hoshea became his seruant, and gaue him presents.
Shalmanéser, roi d’Assyrie, monta contre lui, et Osée devint son serviteur, et lui envoya des présents.
4 And the King of Asshur founde treason in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So King of Egypt, and brought no present vnto the King of Asshur, as he had done yeerely: therfore the king of Asshur shut him vp, and put him in prison.
Et le roi d’Assyrie découvrit qu’Osée conspirait; car [Osée] avait envoyé des messagers à Sô, roi d’Égypte, et il n’envoyait pas de présents au roi d’Assyrie comme [il avait fait] d’année en année; et le roi d’Assyrie l’enferma dans une prison et le lia.
5 Then the king of Asshur came vp throughout all the lande, and went against Samaria, and besieged it three yeere.
Et le roi d’Assyrie monta par tout le pays, et monta à Samarie, et l’assiégea trois ans.
6 In the ninth yeere of Hoshea, the King of Asshur tooke Samaria, and caryed Israel away vnto Asshur, and put them in Halah, and in Habor by the riuer of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
La neuvième année d’Osée, le roi d’Assyrie prit Samarie, et il transporta Israël en Assyrie, et les fit habiter à Khalakh, et sur le Khabor, fleuve de Gozan, et dans les villes des Mèdes.
7 For when the children of Israel sinned against the Lord their God, which had brought them out of the land of Egypt, from vnder ye hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and feared other gods,
Et il était arrivé que les fils d’Israël avaient péché contre l’Éternel, leur Dieu, qui les avait fait monter du pays d’Égypte, de dessous la main du Pharaon, roi d’Égypte, et qu’ils avaient révéré d’autres dieux.
8 And walked according to the facions of the Heathen, whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel, and after the maners of the Kings of Israel, which they vsed,
Et ils marchèrent dans les statuts des nations que l’Éternel avait dépossédées devant les fils d’Israël, et [dans ceux] que les rois d’Israël avaient établis.
9 And the children of Israel had done secretly things that were not vpright before the Lord their God, and throughout all their cities had built hie places, both from the tower of the watch, to the defensed citie,
Et les fils d’Israël firent en secret contre l’Éternel, leur Dieu, des choses qui ne sont pas droites; et ils se bâtirent des hauts lieux dans toutes leurs villes, depuis la tour des gardes jusqu’à la ville forte;
10 And had made them images and groues vpon euery hie hill, and vnder euery greene tree,
et ils se dressèrent des statues et des ashères sur toute haute colline et sous tout arbre vert,
11 And there burnt incense in all the hie places, as did the heathen, whom the Lord had taken away before them, and wrought wicked things to anger the Lord,
et firent fumer là de l’encens sur tous les hauts lieux, comme les nations que l’Éternel avait transportées de devant eux; et ils firent des choses mauvaises, pour provoquer à colère l’Éternel;
12 And serued idoles: whereof the Lord had sayd vnto them, Ye shall do no such thing,
et ils servirent les idoles, au sujet desquelles l’Éternel leur avait dit: Vous ne ferez point cela.
13 Notwithstanding the Lord testified to Israel, and to Iudah by all the Prophets, and by all the Seers, saying, Turne from your euill wayes, and keepe my commandements and my statutes, according to all the Lawe, which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my seruants the Prophets.
Et l’Éternel rendit témoignage contre Israël et contre Juda par tous les prophètes, tous les voyants, disant: Détournez-vous de vos mauvaises voies; et gardez mes commandements, mes statuts, selon toute la loi que j’ai commandée à vos pères et que je vous ai envoyée par mes serviteurs les prophètes.
14 Neuerthelesse they would not obey, but hardened their neckes, like to the neckes of their fathers, that did not beleeue in the Lord their God.
Et ils n’écoutèrent pas, et roidirent leur cou comme le cou de leurs pères, qui n’avaient pas cru l’Éternel, leur Dieu.
15 And they refused his statutes and his couenant, that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies (wherewith he witnessed vnto them) and they followed vanitie, and became vaine, and followed the heathen that were round about them: concerning whome the Lord had charged them, that they should not do like them.
Et ils rejetèrent ses statuts, et son alliance qu’il avait faite avec leurs pères, et ses témoignages qu’il leur avait donnés, et ils marchèrent après la vanité, et agirent vainement, et en suivant les nations qui étaient autour d’eux, touchant lesquelles l’Éternel leur avait commandé de ne pas faire comme elles.
16 Finally they left all the commandements of the Lord their God, and made them molten images, euen two calues, and made a groue, and worshipped all the hoste of heauen, and serued Baal.
Et ils abandonnèrent tous les commandements de l’Éternel, leur Dieu, et se firent des images de fonte, deux veaux, et se firent des ashères, et se prosternèrent devant toute l’armée des cieux, et servirent Baal.
17 And they made their sonnes and their daughters passe thorowe the fire, and vsed witchcraft and inchantments, yea, solde them selues to doe euill in the sight of the Lord, to anger him.
Et ils firent passer leurs fils et leurs filles par le feu, et pratiquèrent la divination et s’adonnèrent aux enchantements, et se vendirent pour faire ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de l’Éternel, pour le provoquer à colère.
18 Therefore the Lord was exceeding wroth with Israel, and put them out of his sight, and none was left but the tribe of Iudah onely.
Et l’Éternel fut très irrité contre Israël, et les ôta de devant sa face; il n’en resta que la seule tribu de Juda.
19 Yet Iudah kept not the commandements of the Lord their God, but walked according to the facion of Israel, which they vsed.
Et Juda non plus ne garda pas les commandements de l’Éternel, son Dieu; et ils marchèrent dans les statuts qu’Israël avait établis.
20 Therefore the Lord cast off all the seede of Israel, and afflicted them, and deliuered them into the handes of spoylers, vntill he had cast them out of his sight.
Et l’Éternel rejeta toute la semence d’Israël, et il les affligea, et les livra en la main des pillards, jusqu’à ce qu’il les ait rejetés de devant sa face.
21 For he cut off Israel from the house of Dauid, and they made Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat King: and Ieroboam drewe Israel away from following the Lord, and made them sinne a great sinne.
Car Israël s’était séparé de la maison de David, et avait fait roi Jéroboam, fils de Nebath; et Jéroboam avait détourné violemment Israël de suivre l’Éternel, et les avait fait commettre un grand péché.
22 For the children of Israel walked in all the sinnes of Ieroboam, which he did, and departed not therefrom,
Et les fils d’Israël marchèrent dans tous les péchés que Jéroboam avait commis; ils ne s’en détournèrent point,
23 Vntill the Lord put Israel away out of his sight, as he had said by all his seruants the Prophets, and caryed Israel away out of their land to Asshur vnto this day.
jusqu’à ce que l’Éternel ôta Israël de devant sa face, comme il avait dit par tous ses serviteurs les prophètes; et Israël fut transporté de dessus sa terre en Assyrie, [où il est] jusqu’à ce jour.
24 And the King of Asshur brought folke from Babel, and from Cuthah, and from Aua, and from Hamath, and from Sepharuaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria in steade of the children of Israel: so they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.
Et le roi d’Assyrie fit venir [des gens] de Babel, et de Cuth, et d’Avva, et de Hamath, et de Sepharvaïm, et [les] fit habiter dans les villes de la Samarie, à la place des fils d’Israël; et ils possédèrent la Samarie, et habitèrent dans ses villes.
25 And at the beginning of their dwelling there, they feared not the Lord: therefore the Lord sent lions among them, which slewe them.
Et il arriva, quand ils commencèrent d’y habiter, qu’ils ne craignaient pas l’Éternel, et l’Éternel envoya contre eux des lions qui les tuaient.
26 Wherefore they spake to the King of Asshur, saying, The nations which thou hast remoued, and placed in the cities of Samaria, knowe not the maner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and behold, they slay them, because they knowe not the maner of the God of the land.
Et on parla au roi d’Assyrie, disant: Les nations que tu as transportées et que tu as fait habiter dans les villes de Samarie ne connaissent pas la coutume du dieu du pays, et il a envoyé contre elles des lions, et voici, [ces lions] les font mourir, parce qu’elles ne connaissent pas la coutume du dieu du pays.
27 Then the King of Asshur commanded, saying, Carie thither one of the Priestes whome ye brought thence, and let him goe and dwell there, and teache them the maner of the God of the countrey.
Et le roi d’Assyrie commanda, disant: Faites aller là quelqu’un des sacrificateurs que vous en avez transportés; et qu’il aille et qu’il demeure là, et qu’il leur enseigne la coutume du dieu du pays.
28 So one of the Priestes, which they had caryed from Samaria, came and dwelt in Beth-el, and taught them how they shoulde feare the Lord.
Et un des sacrificateurs qu’on avait transportés de Samarie, vint et habita à Béthel, et il leur enseignait comment ils devaient craindre l’Éternel.
29 Howbeit euery nation made their gods, and put them in the houses of the hie places, which the Samaritanes had made, euery nation in their cities, wherein they dwelt.
Et chaque nation se fit ses dieux, et elles les placèrent dans les maisons des hauts lieux que les Samaritains avaient faites, chaque nation dans ses villes où elle habitait.
30 For the men of Babel made Succoth-Benoth: and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,
Et les hommes de Babel firent Succoth-Benoth; et les hommes de Cuth firent Nergal; et les hommes de Hamath firent Ashima;
31 And the Auims made Nibhaz, and Tartak: and the Sepharuims burnt their children in the fire to Adrammelech, and Anammelech the gods of Sepharuaim.
et les Avviens firent Nibkhaz et Tharthak; et les Sepharviens brûlaient au feu leurs fils à Adrammélec et à Anammélec, les dieux de Sepharvaïm.
32 Thus they feared the Lord, and appoynted out Priestes out of them selues for the hie places, who prepared for them sacrifices in the houses of the hie places.
Et ils craignaient l’Éternel, et se firent d’entre toutes les classes [du peuple] des sacrificateurs des hauts lieux, qui offraient [des sacrifices] pour eux dans les maisons des hauts lieux:
33 They feared the Lord, but serued their gods after the maner of the nations whome they caryed thence.
ils craignaient l’Éternel, et ils servaient leurs dieux selon la coutume des nations d’où ils avaient été transportés.
34 Vnto this day they doe after the olde maner: they neyther feare God, neyther doe after their ordinances, nor after their customes, nor after the Lawe, nor after the commandement, which the Lord commanded the children of Iaakob, whom he named Israel,
Jusqu’à ce jour ils font selon leurs premières coutumes: ils ne craignent pas l’Éternel, et ils ne font pas selon leurs statuts et selon leurs coutumes, ni selon la loi et selon le commandement que l’Éternel avait commandés aux fils de Jacob, qu’il nomma Israël.
35 And with whom the Lord had made a couenant, and charged them, saying, Feare none other gods, nor bowe your selues to them, nor serue them, nor sacrifice to them:
Et l’Éternel avait fait alliance avec eux, et il leur avait commandé, disant: Vous ne craindrez point d’autres dieux, et vous ne vous prosternerez point devant eux; et vous ne les servirez point, et ne leur sacrifierez point.
36 But feare the Lord which brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power, and a stretched out arme: him feare ye, and worshippe him, and sacrifice to him.
Mais l’Éternel seul, qui vous a fait monter du pays d’Égypte par une grande force et à bras étendu, lui, vous le craindrez, et vous vous prosternerez devant lui, et à lui vous sacrifierez.
37 Also keepe ye diligently the statutes and the ordinances, and the Lawe, and the commandement, which he wrote for you, that ye do them continually, and feare not other gods.
Et les statuts, et les ordonnances, et la loi, et le commandement, qu’il a écrits pour vous, vous prendrez garde à les pratiquer tous les jours; et vous ne craindrez pas d’autres dieux.
38 And forget not the couenant that I haue made with you, neither feare ye other gods,
Et vous n’oublierez pas l’alliance que j’ai faite avec vous, et vous ne craindrez pas d’autres dieux;
39 But feare the Lord your God, and he will deliuer you out of the handes of all your enemies.
mais vous craindrez l’Éternel, votre Dieu, et lui vous délivrera de la main de tous vos ennemis.
40 Howbeit they obeyed not, but did after their olde custome.
Et ils n’écoutèrent pas, mais ils firent selon leur première coutume.
41 So these nations feared the Lord, and serued their images also: so did their children, and their childrens children: as did their fathers, so do they vnto this day.
Et ces nations-là craignaient l’Éternel, et servaient leurs images; leurs fils aussi, et les fils de leurs fils, font jusqu’à ce jour comme leurs pères ont fait.
