2 Kings 14
1 The second yeere of Ioash sonne of Iehoahaz King of Israel reigned Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah.
El año segundo de Joás, hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Amasías, hijo de Joás, rey de Judá.
2 He was fiue and twentie yeere olde when he began to reigne, and reigned nine and twentie yeere in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Iehoadan of Ierusalem.
Al empezar a reinar tenía veinticinco años, y reinó veintinueve años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Joadán, de Jerusalén.
3 And he did vprightly in the sight of the Lord, yet not like Dauid his father, but did according to all that Ioash his father had done.
Hizo lo que era recto a los ojos de Yahvé, pero no así como su padre David. En todo imitó el proceder de su padre Joás.
4 Notwithstanding the hie places were not taken away: for as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense in the hie places.
Sin embargo, no desaparecieron los lugares altos. El pueblo siguió ofreciendo sacrificios y quemando incienso en los lugares altos.
5 And when the kingdome was confirmed in his hand, he slewe his seruants which had killed the King his father.
Cuando hubo tomado posesión del reino, dio muerte a sus siervos que habían asesinado al rey, su padre.
6 But the children of those that did slay him, he slewe not, according vnto that that is written in the booke of the Lawe of Moses, wherein the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children put to death for the fathers: but euery man shall be put to death for his owne sinne.
Pero no hizo morir a los hijos de los homicidas, conforme a lo escrito en el Libro de la Ley de Moisés, donde Yahvé dio este mandamiento: “No han de morir los padres por los hijos, ni los hijos han de morir por los padres; sino que cada cual morirá por su propio pecado.”
7 He slew also of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and tooke the citie of Sela by warre, and called the name thereof Ioktheel vnto this day.
Derrotó en el Valle de las Salinas a diez mil idumeos y se apoderó en esa guerra de Petra, a la cual dio el nombre de Jocteel, que le ha quedado hasta hoy.
8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Iehoash the sonne of Iehoahaz, sonne of Iehu King of Israel, saying, Come, let vs see one another in the face.
Amasías envió mensajeros a Joás, hijo de Joacaz, hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, diciendo: “¡Ven, y veámonos frente a frente!”
9 Then Iehoash the King of Israel sent to Amaziah King of Iudah, saying, The thistle that is in Lebanon, sent to the cedar that is in Lebanon, saying, Giue thy daughter to my sonne to wife: and the wilde beast that was in Lebanon, went and trode downe the thistle.
Entonces Joás, rey de Israel, mandó a decir a Amasías, rey de Judá: “Él cardo del Líbano hizo decir al cedro del Líbano: Da tu hija a mi hijo por mujer; pero las fieras del Líbano pasaron y pisotearon el cardo.
10 Because thou hast smitten Edom, thine heart hath made thee proud: bragge of glory, and tary at home. why doest thou prouoke to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, and Iudah with thee?
Por cuanto has derrotado a Edom, se te ha engreído el corazón. Gloríate y quédate en casa. ¿Por qué quieres meterte en la calamidad para que caigas tú y Judá contigo?”
11 But Amaziah would not heare: therefore Iehoash King of Israel went vp: and he and Amaziah King of Iudah sawe one another in the face at Beth-shemesh which is in Iudah.
Mas Amasías no quiso escuchar. Subió, pues, Joás, rey de Israel; y se vieron frente a frente, él y Amasías, rey de Judá, en Betsemes, en el territorio de Judá.
12 And Iudah was put to the worse before Israel, and they fledde euery man to their tents.
Judá fue derrotado por Israel, y huyó cada cual a su casa.
13 But Iehoash King of Israel tooke Amaziah King of Iudah, the sonne of Iehoash the sonne of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Ierusalem, and brake downe the wall of Ierusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, foure hundreth cubites.
Joás, rey de Israel, tomó prisionero en Betsemes a Amasías, rey de Judá, hijo de Joás, hijo de Ococías. Después vino a Jerusalén e hizo una brecha de cuatrocientos metros en la muralla de Jerusalén, desde la puerta de Efraím hasta la puerta de la Esquina.
14 And he tooke all the gold and siluer, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the Kings house, and the children that were in hostage, and returned to Samaria.
Tomó también todo el oro y la plata y todos los vasos que se hallaban en la Casa de Yahvé y en los tesoros de la casa del rey. Y después de tomar también rehenes, regresó a Samaria.
15 Concerning the rest of the acts of Iehoash which he did and his valiant deedes, and how he fought with Amaziah King of Iudah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Las demás cosas que hizo Joás, su valentía y su guerra contra Amasías, rey de Judá, ¿no está esto escrito en el libro de los anales de los reyes de Israel?
16 And Iehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried at Samaria among the Kings of Israel: and Ieroboam his sonne reigned in his stead.
Joás se durmió con sus padres, y fue sepultado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar su hijo Jeroboam.
17 And Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah, liued after the death of Iehoash sonne of Iehoahaz King of Israel fifteene yeere.
Amasías, hijo de Joás, rey de Judá, vivió aún quince años, después de la muerte de Joás, hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel.
18 Concerning the rest of the actes of Amaziah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
Las demás cosas de Amasías, ¿no están escritas en el libro de los anales de los reyes de Judá?
19 But they wrought treason against him in Ierusalem, and he fled to Lachish, but they sent after him to Lachish, and slewe him there.
Tramaron contra él una conspiración en Jerusalén, por lo cual huyó a Laquís; mas enviaron detrás de él gente a Laquís, donde le dieron muerte.
20 And they brought him on horses, and he was buried at Ierusalem with his fathers in the citie of Dauid.
Después lo transportaron sobre caballos a Jerusalén y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David.
21 Then all the people of Iudah tooke Azariah which was sixteene yeere olde, and made him King for his father Amaziah.
Entonces el pueblo entero de Judá tomó a Azarías, que era de diez y seis años de edad, y lo hicieron rey en lugar de su padre Amasías.
22 He built Elath, and restored it to Iudah, after that the King slept with his fathers.
El edificó a Elat, que fue restituida a Judá, después de dormirse el rey con sus padres.
23 In the fifteenth yeere of Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah, was Ieroboam the sonne of Ioash made King ouer Israel in Samaria, and reigned one and fourtie yeere.
El año quince de Amasías, hijo de Joás, rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar en Samaria Jeroboam, hijo de Joás, rey de Israel. Reinó cuarenta y un años,
24 And he did euill in the sight of the Lord: for he departed not from all the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne.
e hizo lo malo a los ojos de Yahvé. No se apartó de ninguno de los pecados de Jeroboam, hijo de Nabar, que había hecho pecar a Israel.
25 He restored the coast of Israel, from the entring of Hamath, vnto the Sea of the wildernesse, according to the worde of the Lord God of Israel, which he spake by his seruant Ionah the sonne of Amittai the Prophet, which was of Gath Hepher.
Restableció los límites antiguos de Israel, desde la entrada de Hamat hasta el Mar del Araba, conforme a la palabra que Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, había dicho por boca de su siervo Jonás el profeta, hijo de Amitai, natural de Gethéfer.
26 For the Lord saw the exceeding bitter affliction of Israel, so that there was none shutte vp, nor any left, neyther yet any that could helpe Israel.
Porque vio la aflicción de Israel que era amarga en extremo pues habían perecido esclavos y libres, y no hubo quien ayudase a Israel.
27 Yet the Lord had not decreed to put out the name of Israel from vnder the heauen: therefore he preserued them by the hand of Ieroboam the sonne of Ioash.
Y, sin embargo, Yahvé no había decretado borrar el nombre de Israel de debajo del cielo; por eso los salvó por mano de Jeroboam, hijo de Joás.
28 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ieroboam, and all that he did, and his valiant deedes, and how he fought, and how he restored Damascus, and Hamath to Iudah in Israel, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Las demás cosas de Jeroboam, y todo lo que hizo, su valentía en la guerra, y cómo recuperó a Damasco y a Hamat —que habían pertenecido a Judá— para Israel, ¿no está esto escrito en el libro de los anales de los reyes de Israel?
29 So Ieroboam slept with his fathers, euen with the Kings of Israel, and Zachariah his sonne reigned in his steade.
Jeroboam se durmió con sus padres, los reyes de Israel, y reinó en su lugar su hijo Zacarías.
