2 Kings 14
1 The second yeere of Ioash sonne of Iehoahaz King of Israel reigned Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah.
L’anno secondo di Joas, figliuolo di Joachaz, re d’Israele, cominciò a regnare Amatsia, figliuolo di Joas, re di Giuda.
2 He was fiue and twentie yeere olde when he began to reigne, and reigned nine and twentie yeere in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Iehoadan of Ierusalem.
Avea venticinque anni quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò ventinove anni a Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Jehoaddan, ed era di Gerusalemme.
3 And he did vprightly in the sight of the Lord, yet not like Dauid his father, but did according to all that Ioash his father had done.
Egli fece ciò ch’è giusto agli occhi dell’Eterno; non però come Davide suo padre; fece interamente come avea fatto Joas suo padre.
4 Notwithstanding the hie places were not taken away: for as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense in the hie places.
Nondimeno gli alti luoghi non furon soppressi; il popolo continuava ad offrir sacrifizi e profumi sugli alti luoghi.
5 And when the kingdome was confirmed in his hand, he slewe his seruants which had killed the King his father.
E, non appena il potere reale fu assicurato nelle sue mani, egli fece morire quei servi suoi che avean ucciso il re suo padre;
6 But the children of those that did slay him, he slewe not, according vnto that that is written in the booke of the Lawe of Moses, wherein the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children put to death for the fathers: but euery man shall be put to death for his owne sinne.
ma non fece morire i figliuoli degli uccisori, secondo ch’è scritto nel libro della legge di Mosè, dove l’Eterno ha dato questo comandamento: “I padri non saranno messi a morte a cagione dei figliuoli, né i figliuoli saranno messi a morte a cagione dei padri; ma ciascuno sarà messo a morte a cagione del proprio peccato”.
7 He slew also of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and tooke the citie of Sela by warre, and called the name thereof Ioktheel vnto this day.
Egli uccise diecimila Idumei nella valle del Sale; e in questa guerra prese Sela e le dette il nome di Joktheel, che ha conservato fino al dì d’oggi.
8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Iehoash the sonne of Iehoahaz, sonne of Iehu King of Israel, saying, Come, let vs see one another in the face.
Allora Amatsia inviò dei messi a Joas, figliuolo di Joachaz, figliuolo di Jehu, re d’Israele, per dirgli: “Vieni, mettiamoci a faccia a faccia!”
9 Then Iehoash the King of Israel sent to Amaziah King of Iudah, saying, The thistle that is in Lebanon, sent to the cedar that is in Lebanon, saying, Giue thy daughter to my sonne to wife: and the wilde beast that was in Lebanon, went and trode downe the thistle.
E Joas, re d’Israele, fece dire ad Amatsia, re di Giuda: “Lo spino del Libano mandò a dire al cedro del Libano: Da’ la tua figliuola per moglie al mio figliuolo. E le bestie selvagge del Libano passarono, e calpestarono lo spino.
10 Because thou hast smitten Edom, thine heart hath made thee proud: bragge of glory, and tary at home. why doest thou prouoke to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, and Iudah with thee?
Tu hai messo in rotta gl’Idumei, e il tuo cuore t’ha reso orgoglioso. Godi della tua gloria, e stattene a casa tua. Perché impegnarti in una disgraziata impresa che menerebbe alla ruina te e Giuda con te?”
11 But Amaziah would not heare: therefore Iehoash King of Israel went vp: and he and Amaziah King of Iudah sawe one another in the face at Beth-shemesh which is in Iudah.
Ma Amatsia non gli volle dar retta. Così Joas, re d’Israele, salì contro Amatsia; ed egli ed Amatsia, re di Giuda, si trovarono a faccia a faccia a Beth-Scemesh, che apparteneva a Giuda.
12 And Iudah was put to the worse before Israel, and they fledde euery man to their tents.
Giuda rimase sconfitto da Israele; e que’ di Giuda fuggirono ognuno alla sua tenda.
13 But Iehoash King of Israel tooke Amaziah King of Iudah, the sonne of Iehoash the sonne of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Ierusalem, and brake downe the wall of Ierusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, foure hundreth cubites.
E Joas, re d’Israele, fece prigioniero a Beth-Scemesh Amatsia, re di Giuda, figliuolo di Joas, figliuolo di Achazia. Poi venne a Gerusalemme, e fece una breccia di quattrocento cubiti nelle mura di Gerusalemme, dalla porta di Efraim alla porta dell’angolo.
14 And he tooke all the gold and siluer, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the Kings house, and the children that were in hostage, and returned to Samaria.
E prese tutto l’oro e l’argento e tutti i vasi che si trovavano nella casa dell’Eterno e nei tesori della casa del re; prese anche degli ostaggi, e se ne tornò a Samaria.
15 Concerning the rest of the acts of Iehoash which he did and his valiant deedes, and how he fought with Amaziah King of Iudah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Il rimanente delle azioni compiute da Joas, e il suo valore, e come combatté contro Amatsia re di Giuda, sono cose scritte nel libro delle Cronache dei re d’Israele.
16 And Iehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried at Samaria among the Kings of Israel: and Ieroboam his sonne reigned in his stead.
Joas si addormentò coi suoi padri e fu sepolto a Samaria coi re d’Israele; e Geroboamo, suo figliuolo, regnò in luogo suo.
17 And Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah, liued after the death of Iehoash sonne of Iehoahaz King of Israel fifteene yeere.
Amatsia, figliuolo di Joas, re di Giuda, visse ancora quindici anni dopo la morte di Joas, figliuolo di Joachaz, re d’Israele.
18 Concerning the rest of the actes of Amaziah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
Il rimanente delle azioni di Amatsia si trova scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda.
19 But they wrought treason against him in Ierusalem, and he fled to Lachish, but they sent after him to Lachish, and slewe him there.
Fu ordita contro di lui una congiura a Gerusalemme; ed egli fuggì a Lakis; ma lo fecero inseguire fino a Lakis, e quivi fu messo a morte.
20 And they brought him on horses, and he was buried at Ierusalem with his fathers in the citie of Dauid.
Di là fu trasportato sopra cavalli, e quindi sepolto a Gerusalemme coi suoi padri nella città di Davide.
21 Then all the people of Iudah tooke Azariah which was sixteene yeere olde, and made him King for his father Amaziah.
E tutto il popolo di Giuda prese Azaria, che aveva allora sedici anni, e lo fece re in luogo di Amatsia suo padre.
22 He built Elath, and restored it to Iudah, after that the King slept with his fathers.
Egli riedificò Elath, e la riconquistò a Giuda, dopo che il re si fu addormentato coi suoi padri.
23 In the fifteenth yeere of Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah, was Ieroboam the sonne of Ioash made King ouer Israel in Samaria, and reigned one and fourtie yeere.
L’anno quindicesimo di Amatsia, figliuolo di Joas, re di Giuda, cominciò a regnare a Samaria Geroboamo, figliuolo di Joas, re d’Israele; e regnò quarantun anni.
24 And he did euill in the sight of the Lord: for he departed not from all the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne.
Egli fece quello ch’è male agli occhi dell’Eterno; non si ritrasse da alcuno dei peccati coi quali Geroboamo, figliuolo di Nebat, avea fatto peccare Israele.
25 He restored the coast of Israel, from the entring of Hamath, vnto the Sea of the wildernesse, according to the worde of the Lord God of Israel, which he spake by his seruant Ionah the sonne of Amittai the Prophet, which was of Gath Hepher.
Egli ristabilì i confini d’Israele dall’ingresso di Hamath al mare della pianura, secondo la parola che l’Eterno, l’Iddio d’Israele, avea pronunziata per mezzo del suo servitore il profeta Giona, figliuolo di Amittai, che era di Gath-Hefer.
26 For the Lord saw the exceeding bitter affliction of Israel, so that there was none shutte vp, nor any left, neyther yet any that could helpe Israel.
Poiché l’Eterno vide che l’afflizione d’Israele era amarissima, che schiavi e liberi eran ridotti all’estremo, e che non c’era più alcuno che soccorresse Israele.
27 Yet the Lord had not decreed to put out the name of Israel from vnder the heauen: therefore he preserued them by the hand of Ieroboam the sonne of Ioash.
L’Eterno non avea parlato ancora di cancellare il nome d’Israele di disotto al cielo; quindi li salvò, per mano di Geroboamo, figliuolo di Joas.
28 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ieroboam, and all that he did, and his valiant deedes, and how he fought, and how he restored Damascus, and Hamath to Iudah in Israel, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Il rimanente delle azioni di Geroboamo, e tutto quello che fece, e il suo valore in guerra, e come riconquistò a Israele Damasco e Hamath che aveano appartenuto a Giuda, si trova scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re d’Israele.
29 So Ieroboam slept with his fathers, euen with the Kings of Israel, and Zachariah his sonne reigned in his steade.
Geroboamo si addormentò coi suoi padri, i re d’Israele; e Zaccaria, suo figliuolo, regnò in luogo suo.
