2 Kings 14
1 The second yeere of Ioash sonne of Iehoahaz King of Israel reigned Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah.
En la seconde année de Joas, fils de Joachaz, roi d’Israël, régna Amasias, fils de Joas, roi de Juda.
2 He was fiue and twentie yeere olde when he began to reigne, and reigned nine and twentie yeere in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Iehoadan of Ierusalem.
Il avait vingt-cinq ans lorsqu’il commença à régner; et il régna vingt-neuf ans dans Jérusalem; le nom de sa mère était Joadan de Jérusalem.
3 And he did vprightly in the sight of the Lord, yet not like Dauid his father, but did according to all that Ioash his father had done.
Et il fit ce qui était droit devant le Seigneur, cependant non pas comme David, son père. Il fit selon tout ce que Joas son père avait fait;
4 Notwithstanding the hie places were not taken away: for as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense in the hie places.
Si ce n’est seulement qu’il n’abolit point les hauts lieux, car le peuple sacrifiait encore et brûlait de l’encens sur les hauts lieux.
5 And when the kingdome was confirmed in his hand, he slewe his seruants which had killed the King his father.
Et lorsqu’il eut obtenu le royaume, il frappa de mort ses serviteurs qui avaient tué le roi, son père;
6 But the children of those that did slay him, he slewe not, according vnto that that is written in the booke of the Lawe of Moses, wherein the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children put to death for the fathers: but euery man shall be put to death for his owne sinne.
Mais les enfants de ceux qui avaient commis le meurtre, il ne les tua points selon ce qui est écrit au livre de la loi de Moïse, et comme a ordonné le Seigneur, disant: Des pères ne mourront pas pour des enfants, et des enfants ne mourront point pour des pères; mais chacun mourra pour son péché.
7 He slew also of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and tooke the citie of Sela by warre, and called the name thereof Ioktheel vnto this day.
Ce fut lui qui battit Edom dans la vallée des Salines, tuant dix mille hommes, et il prit le rocher dans cette bataille, et il l’appela du nom de Jectéhel, jusqu’au présent jour.
8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Iehoash the sonne of Iehoahaz, sonne of Iehu King of Israel, saying, Come, let vs see one another in the face.
Alors Amasias envoya des messagers vers Joas, fils de Joachaz, fils de Jéhu, roi d’Israël, disant: Venez, et voyons-nous.
9 Then Iehoash the King of Israel sent to Amaziah King of Iudah, saying, The thistle that is in Lebanon, sent to the cedar that is in Lebanon, saying, Giue thy daughter to my sonne to wife: and the wilde beast that was in Lebanon, went and trode downe the thistle.
Et Joas, roi d’Israël, envoya à son tour vers Amasias, roi de Juda, disant: Le chardon du Liban envoya vers le cèdre qui est au Liban, disant: Donnez votre fille à mon fils pour femme. Et les bêtes de la forêt qui sont au Liban passèrent, et foulèrent aux pieds le chardon.
10 Because thou hast smitten Edom, thine heart hath made thee proud: bragge of glory, and tary at home. why doest thou prouoke to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, and Iudah with thee?
Vous l’avez emporté sur Edom, en le battant, et votre cœur vous a élevé. Soyez content de cette gloire, et restez dans votre maison. Pourquoi provoquez-vous un malheur, pour que vous tombiez, vous et Juda avec vous?
11 But Amaziah would not heare: therefore Iehoash King of Israel went vp: and he and Amaziah King of Iudah sawe one another in the face at Beth-shemesh which is in Iudah.
Mais Amasias ne l’écouta pas; et Joas, roi d’Israël, monta contre lui, et ils se virent, lui et Amasias, roi de Juda, à Bethsamès, ville de Juda.
12 And Iudah was put to the worse before Israel, and they fledde euery man to their tents.
Et Juda fut vaincu par Israël, et ils s’enfuirent, chacun dans leurs tabernacles.
13 But Iehoash King of Israel tooke Amaziah King of Iudah, the sonne of Iehoash the sonne of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Ierusalem, and brake downe the wall of Ierusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, foure hundreth cubites.
Mais Joas, roi d’Israël, prit à Bethsamès, Amasias, roi de Juda, fils de Joas, fils d’Ochozias, et l’emmena à Jérusalem; et il perça le mur de Jérusalem, depuis la porte d’Ephraïm jusqu’à la porte de l’angle, espace de quatre cents coudées.
14 And he tooke all the gold and siluer, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the Kings house, and the children that were in hostage, and returned to Samaria.
Et il emporta tout l’or et l’argent, tous les vases qui furent trouvés dans la maison du Seigneur, et dans tous les trésors du roi, et les otages, et il retourna à Samarie.
15 Concerning the rest of the acts of Iehoash which he did and his valiant deedes, and how he fought with Amaziah King of Iudah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Mais le reste des actions de Joas, et son courage avec lequel il combattit contre Amasias, roi de Juda, n’est-ce pas écrit dans le Livre des actions des jours des rois d’Israël?
16 And Iehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried at Samaria among the Kings of Israel: and Ieroboam his sonne reigned in his stead.
Et Joas dormit avec ses pères, et fut enseveli à Samarie avec les rois d’Israël; et Jéroboam, son fils, régna en sa place.
17 And Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah, liued after the death of Iehoash sonne of Iehoahaz King of Israel fifteene yeere.
Mais Amasias, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, vécut quinze ans après que fut mort Joas, fils de Joachaz, roi d’Israël.
18 Concerning the rest of the actes of Amaziah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
Mais le reste des actions d’Amasias n’est-il pas écrit dans le Livre des actions des jours des rois de Juda?
19 But they wrought treason against him in Ierusalem, and he fled to Lachish, but they sent after him to Lachish, and slewe him there.
Et il se fit une conspiration contre lui à Jérusalem; mais lui s’enfuit à Lachis. Et on envoya après lui à Lachis, et on le tua là.
20 And they brought him on horses, and he was buried at Ierusalem with his fathers in the citie of Dauid.
On transporta son cadavre sur les chevaux, et il fut enseseveli avec ses pères dans la cité de David.
21 Then all the people of Iudah tooke Azariah which was sixteene yeere olde, and made him King for his father Amaziah.
Tout le peuple prit ensuite Azarias, âgé de seize ans, et ils l’établirent roi en la place de son père Amasias.
22 He built Elath, and restored it to Iudah, after that the King slept with his fathers.
Ce fut lui qui bâtit Elath, et la rendit à Juda, après que le roi se fut endormi avec ses pères.
23 In the fifteenth yeere of Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah, was Ieroboam the sonne of Ioash made King ouer Israel in Samaria, and reigned one and fourtie yeere.
En la quinzième année d’Amasias, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, Jéroboam, fils de Joas, roi d’Israël, régna à Samarie, et il régna quarante-un ans;
24 And he did euill in the sight of the Lord: for he departed not from all the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne.
Et il fit le mal devant le Seigneur. Il ne s’écarta pas de tous les péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nabath, qui fit pécher Israël.
25 He restored the coast of Israel, from the entring of Hamath, vnto the Sea of the wildernesse, according to the worde of the Lord God of Israel, which he spake by his seruant Ionah the sonne of Amittai the Prophet, which was of Gath Hepher.
C’est lui qui rétablit les limites d’Israël depuis l’entrée d’Emath jusqu’à la mer du désert, selon la parole que le Seigneur Dieu d’Israël avait dite par son serviteur Jonas, le prophète, fils d’Amathi, qui était de Geth, qui est en Opher.
26 For the Lord saw the exceeding bitter affliction of Israel, so that there was none shutte vp, nor any left, neyther yet any that could helpe Israel.
Car le Seigneur vit l’affliction très amère d’Israël, et qu’ils étaient consumés jusqu’à ceux qui étaient renfermés dans la prison, et jusqu’aux derniers du peuple, et qu’il n’y avait personne qui secourût Israël.
27 Yet the Lord had not decreed to put out the name of Israel from vnder the heauen: therefore he preserued them by the hand of Ieroboam the sonne of Ioash.
Et le Seigneur ne dit pas qu’il effacerait le nom d’Israël de dessous le ciel; mais il les sauva par la main de Jéroboam, fils de Joas.
28 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ieroboam, and all that he did, and his valiant deedes, and how he fought, and how he restored Damascus, and Hamath to Iudah in Israel, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Mais le reste des actions de Jéroboam, tout ce qu’il a fait, son courage avec lequel il combattit, et comment il rendit Damas et Emath à Juda en Israël, n’est-ce pas écrit dans le Livre des actions des jours des rois d’Israël?
29 So Ieroboam slept with his fathers, euen with the Kings of Israel, and Zachariah his sonne reigned in his steade.
Et Jéroboam dormit avec ses pères, les rois d’Israël, et Zacharie, son fils, régna en sa place.
