2 Kings 14

1 The second yeere of Ioash sonne of Iehoahaz King of Israel reigned Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah.

I Joahaz's Søns, Kong Joas af Israel, andet Regeringsaar blev Amazja, Joas's Søn, Konge over Juda.

2 He was fiue and twentie yeere olde when he began to reigne, and reigned nine and twentie yeere in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Iehoadan of Ierusalem.

Han var fem og tyve Aar gammel, da han blev Konge, og han herskede ni og tyve Aar i Jerusalem. Hans Moder hed Jehoaddan og var fra Jerusalem.

3 And he did vprightly in the sight of the Lord, yet not like Dauid his father, but did according to all that Ioash his father had done.

Han gjorde, hvad der var ret i HERRENS Øjne, om end ikke som hans Fader David; han handlede ganske som sin Fader Joas.

4 Notwithstanding the hie places were not taken away: for as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense in the hie places.

Kun forsvandt Offerhøjene ikke, men Folket blev ved med at ofre og tænde Offerild paa Højene.

5 And when the kingdome was confirmed in his hand, he slewe his seruants which had killed the King his father.

Da han havde sikret sig Magten, lod han dem af sine Folk dræbe, der havde dræbt hans Fader Kongen;

6 But the children of those that did slay him, he slewe not, according vnto that that is written in the booke of the Lawe of Moses, wherein the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children put to death for the fathers: but euery man shall be put to death for his owne sinne.

men Mordernes Børn lod han ikke ihjelslaa, i Henhold til hvad der staar skrevet i Moses's Lovbog, hvor HERREN byder: »Fædre skal ikke lide Døden for Børns Skyld, og Børn skal ikke lide Døden for Fædres Skyld. Men enhver skal lide Døden for sin egen Synd.«

7 He slew also of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and tooke the citie of Sela by warre, and called the name thereof Ioktheel vnto this day.

Det var ham, der slog Edom i Saltdalen, 10 000 Mand, og indtog Sela, og han kaldte det Jokte'el, som det hedder den Dag i Dag.

8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Iehoash the sonne of Iehoahaz, sonne of Iehu King of Israel, saying, Come, let vs see one another in the face.

Ved den Tid sendte Amazja Sendebud til Jebus Søn Joahaz's Søn, Kong Joas af Israel, og lod sige: »Kom, lad os se hinanden under Øjne!«

9 Then Iehoash the King of Israel sent to Amaziah King of Iudah, saying, The thistle that is in Lebanon, sent to the cedar that is in Lebanon, saying, Giue thy daughter to my sonne to wife: and the wilde beast that was in Lebanon, went and trode downe the thistle.

Men Kong Joas af Israel sendte Kong Amazja af Juda det Svar: »Tidselen paa Libanon sendte engang det Bud til Cederen paa Libanon: Giv min Søn din Datter til Ægte! Men Libanons vilde Dyr løb hen over Tidselen og trampede den ned.

10 Because thou hast smitten Edom, thine heart hath made thee proud: bragge of glory, and tary at home. why doest thou prouoke to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, and Iudah with thee?

Du har slaaet Edom, og det har gjort dig overmodig; lad dig nu nøje med den Ære og bliv, hvor du er! Hvorfor vil du udfordre Ulykken og udsætte baade dig selv og Juda for Fald?«

11 But Amaziah would not heare: therefore Iehoash King of Israel went vp: and he and Amaziah King of Iudah sawe one another in the face at Beth-shemesh which is in Iudah.

Men Amazja vilde intet høre. Saa drog Kong Joas af Israel ud, og han og Kong Amazja af Juda saa hinanden under Øjne ved Bet-Sjemesj i Juda;

12 And Iudah was put to the worse before Israel, and they fledde euery man to their tents.

Juda blev slaaet af Israel, og de flygtede hver til sit.

13 But Iehoash King of Israel tooke Amaziah King of Iudah, the sonne of Iehoash the sonne of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Ierusalem, and brake downe the wall of Ierusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, foure hundreth cubites.

Men Kong Joas af Israel tog Ahazjas Søn Joas's Søn. Kong Amazja af Juda, til Fange ved Bet-Sjemesj og førte ham til Jerusalem. Derpaa nedrev han Jerusalems Mur paa en Strækning af 400 Alen, fra Efraimsporten til Hjørneporten;

14 And he tooke all the gold and siluer, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the Kings house, and the children that were in hostage, and returned to Samaria.

og han tog alt det Guld og Sølv og alle de Kar, der fandtes i HERRENS Hus og i Skatkammeret i Kongens Palads; desuden tog han Gidsler og vendte saa tilbage til Samaria.

15 Concerning the rest of the acts of Iehoash which he did and his valiant deedes, and how he fought with Amaziah King of Iudah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Hvad der ellers er at fortælle om Joas, alt, hvad han udførte, og alle hans Heltegerninger, og hvorledes han førte Krig med Kong Amazja af Juda, staar jo optegnet i Israels Kongers Krønike.

16 And Iehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried at Samaria among the Kings of Israel: and Ieroboam his sonne reigned in his stead.

Saa lagde Joas sig til Hvile hos sine Fædre og blev jordet i Samaria hos Israels Konger; og hans Søn Jeroboam blev Konge i hans Sted.

17 And Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah, liued after the death of Iehoash sonne of Iehoahaz King of Israel fifteene yeere.

Joas's Søn, Kong Amazja af Juda, levede endnu femten Aar, efter at Joahaz's Søn, Kong Joas af Israel, var død.

18 Concerning the rest of the actes of Amaziah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?

Hvad der ellers er at fortælle om Amazja, staar jo optegnet i Judas Kongers Krønike.

19 But they wrought treason against him in Ierusalem, and he fled to Lachish, but they sent after him to Lachish, and slewe him there.

Da der stiftedes en Sammensværgelse mod ham i Jerusalem, flygtede han til Lakisj; men der blev sendt Folk efter ham til Lakisj, og de dræbte ham der.

20 And they brought him on horses, and he was buried at Ierusalem with his fathers in the citie of Dauid.

Saa løftede man ham op paa Heste, og han blev jordet i Jerusalem hos sine Fædre i Davidsbyen.

21 Then all the people of Iudah tooke Azariah which was sixteene yeere olde, and made him King for his father Amaziah.

Hele Folket i Juda tog saa Azarja, der dengang var seksten Aar gammel, og gjorde ham til Konge i hans Fader Amazjas Sted.

22 He built Elath, and restored it to Iudah, after that the King slept with his fathers.

Det var ham, der befæstede Elat og atter forenede det med Juda, efter at Kongen havde lagt sig til Hvile hos sine Fædre.

23 In the fifteenth yeere of Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah, was Ieroboam the sonne of Ioash made King ouer Israel in Samaria, and reigned one and fourtie yeere.

I Joas's Søns, Kong Amazja af Judas, femtende Regeringsaar ble Jeroboam, Joas's Søn, Konge over Israel, og han herskede een og fyrretyve Aar i Samaria.

24 And he did euill in the sight of the Lord: for he departed not from all the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne.

Han gjorde, hvad der var ondt i HERRENS Øjne, og veg ikke fra nogen af de Synder, Jeroboam, Nebats Søn, havde forledt Israel til.

25 He restored the coast of Israel, from the entring of Hamath, vnto the Sea of the wildernesse, according to the worde of the Lord God of Israel, which he spake by his seruant Ionah the sonne of Amittai the Prophet, which was of Gath Hepher.

Han tog Israels Landomraade tilbage fra Egnen hen imod Hamat og til Arabasøen, efter det Ord, HERREN, Israels Gud, havde talet ved sin Tjener, Profeten Jonas, Amittajs Søn, fra Gat-Hefer.

26 For the Lord saw the exceeding bitter affliction of Israel, so that there was none shutte vp, nor any left, neyther yet any that could helpe Israel.

Thi HERREN havde set Israels bitre Kvide, hvorledes de reves bort alle som een, fordi Israel ikke havde nogen Hjælper;

27 Yet the Lord had not decreed to put out the name of Israel from vnder the heauen: therefore he preserued them by the hand of Ieroboam the sonne of Ioash.

og HERREN havde ikke talet om, at han vilde udslette Israels Navn under Himmelen, derfor frelste han dem ved Jeroboam, Joas's Søn.

28 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ieroboam, and all that he did, and his valiant deedes, and how he fought, and how he restored Damascus, and Hamath to Iudah in Israel, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Hvad der ellers er at fortælle om Jeroboam, alt, hvad han udførte, og hans Heltegerninger, hvorledes han førte Krig, og hvorledes han tog Damaskus og Hamat tilbage til Israel, staar jo optegnet i Israels Kongers Krønike.

29 So Ieroboam slept with his fathers, euen with the Kings of Israel, and Zachariah his sonne reigned in his steade.

Saa lagde Jeroboam sig til Hvile hos sine Fædre og blev jordet i Samaria hos Israels Konger; og hans Søn Zekarja blev Konge i hans Sted.
