2 Kings 13

1 In the three and twentieth yeere of Ioash the sonne of Ahaziah King of Iudah, Iehoahaz the sonne of Iehu began to reigne ouer Israel in Samaria, and he reigned seuenteene yeere.

யூதாவின் அரசன் அகசியாவின் மகன் யோவாஸ் அரசாண்ட இருபத்துமூன்றாம் வருடத்தில், யெகூவின் மகன் யோவாகாஸ் சமாரியாவில் இஸ்ரயேலுக்கு அரசனானான். இவன் பதினேழு வருடங்கள் அரசாண்டான்.

2 And he did euil in the sight of the Lord, and followed the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne, and departed not therefrom.

இஸ்ரயேலரைப் பாவம் செய்யப்பண்ணின நேபாத்தின் மகன் யெரொபெயாமின் பாவங்களையே இவனும் பின்பற்றி யெகோவாவின் பார்வையில் தீமையைச் செய்தான். அவன் அவைகளைவிட்டு விலகவேயில்லை.

3 And the Lord was angry with Israel, and deliuered them into the hand of Hazael King of Aram, and into the hand of Ben-hadad the sonne of Hazael, all his dayes.

எனவே யெகோவாவின் கோபம் இஸ்ரயேலுக்கு எதிராகப் பற்றி எரிந்தது. இதனால் யெகோவா அவர்களை நெடுங்காலத்திற்கு சீரிய அரசன் ஆசகேலின் வலிமையின் கீழும், அவனுடைய மகன் பெனாதாத்தின் கீழும் வைத்திருந்தார்.

4 And Iehoahaz besought the Lord, and the Lord heard him: for he saw the trouble of Israel, wherewith the King of Aram troubled them.

அதன்பின் யோவாகாஸ் யெகோவாவின் தயவைத் தேடினான். சீரிய அரசன் எவ்வளவாய் இஸ்ரயேலை ஒடுக்கித் துன்புறுத்தினான் என்பதை யெகோவா கண்டபடியால், அவர் அவனுடைய மன்றாட்டைக் கேட்டார்.

5 (And the Lord gaue Israel a deliuerer, so that they came out from vnder the subiection of the Aramites. And the children of Israel dwelt in their tents as before time.

யெகோவா இஸ்ரயேலருக்கு ஒரு விடுதலை வீரனைக் கொடுத்தார். இஸ்ரயேலர் சீரியருடைய பிடியிலிருந்து தப்பினார்கள். அதன்பின் இஸ்ரயேலர் முன்பு வாழ்ந்ததுபோல தங்கள் சொந்த வீடுகளில் வாழ்ந்தார்கள்.

6 Neuerthelesse they departed not from the sinnes of the house of Ieroboam which made Israel sinne, but walked in them. euen the groue also remayned still in Samaria)

ஆயினும் யெரொபெயாம் இஸ்ரயேலைச் செய்யப்பண்ணின பாவங்களிலிருந்து அவர்கள் திரும்பாமல், அவைகளைத் தொடர்ந்து செய்து கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். அத்துடன் அசேரா விக்கிரக தூண் இன்னும் சமாரியாவில் இருந்தது.

7 For he had left of the people to Iehoahaz but fiftie horsemen, and tenne charets, and tenne thousand footemen, because the King of Aram had destroyed them, and made them like dust beaten to pouder.

யோவாகாஸின் இராணுவத்தில் ஐம்பது குதிரைவீரர், பத்து தேர்கள், பத்தாயிரம் காலாட்படை வீரரைத் தவிர வேறொன்றும் மீந்திருக்கவில்லை. ஏனெனில் சீரிய அரசன் இஸ்ரயேலில் மீதியானவர்களை அழித்து, சூடுமிதிக்கும் காலத்திலுள்ள புழுதியைப்போலாக்கிப் போட்டான்.

8 Concerning the rest of the actes of Iehoahaz and all that he did, and his valiant deedes, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

யோவாகாஸின் ஆட்சியின் மற்ற நிகழ்வுகளும், அவன் செய்தவைகளும், அவனுடைய சாதனைகளும் இஸ்ரயேல் அரசர்களின் வரலாற்றுப் புத்தகத்திலல்லவோ எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளன.

9 And Iehoahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria, and Ioash his sonne reigned in his steade.

யோவாகாஸ் தன் முற்பிதாக்களைப்போல இறந்து, சமாரியாவில் அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டான். அவனுக்குப்பின் அவனுடைய மகன் யோவாஸ் அரசனானான்.

10 In the seuen and thirtieth yere of Ioash King of Iudah began Iehoash the sonne of Iehoahaz to reigne ouer Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteene yeere,

யூதாவின் அரசன் யோவாசின் ஆட்சியின் முப்பத்தேழாம் வருடத்தில் யோவாகாஸின் மகன் யோவாஸ் இஸ்ரயேலில் அரசனானான். இவன் சமாரியாவிலிருந்து பதினாறு வருடங்கள் ஆட்சிசெய்தான்.

11 And did euil in the sight of the Lord: for he departed not from all the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat that made Israel to sinne, but he walked therein.

இவன் யெகோவாவின் பார்வையில் தீமையானவற்றைச் செய்தான். இஸ்ரயேலைப் பாவம் செய்யப்பண்ணின நேபாத்தின் மகன் யெரொபெயாமின் பாவங்களில் எதையும் அவன் விடாமல் அவற்றைத் தொடர்ந்து செய்து வந்தான்.

12 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ioash and all that he did, and his valiant deedes, and how he fought against Amaziah King of Iudah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

இஸ்ரயேல் அரசன் யோவாஸ் நிகழ்வுகளும், அவன் செய்தவைகளும், அவனுடைய சாதனைகளும் யூதாவின் அரசன் அமத்சியாவுடன் அவன் செய்த யுத்தம் உட்பட அவனுடைய சதிகள் யாவும், இஸ்ரயேல் அரசர்களின் வரலாற்றுப் புத்தகத்திலல்லவோ எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளன.

13 And Ioash slept with his fathers, and Ieroboam sate vpon his seate: and Ioash was buryed in Samaria among the Kings of Israel.

யோவாஸ் தன் முற்பிதாக்களுடன் இளைப்பாறினான். மற்ற இஸ்ரயேல் அரசர்களை அடக்கம்பண்ணும் இடத்தில் சமாரியாவில் அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டான். அவனுக்குப்பின் அவனுடைய அரியணையில் யெரொபெயாம் அரசனானான்.

14 When Elisha fell sicke of his sickenesse whereof he dyed, Ioash the King of Israel came downe vnto him, and wept vpon his face, and sayd, O my father, my father, the charet of Israel, and the horsemen of the same.

இந்த நாட்களில் எலிசா வியாதியினால் துன்பப்பட்டான். இந்த வியாதியே பின் அவனுடைய மரணத்துக்குக் காரணமாயிருந்தது. அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசன் யோவாஸ் அவனைப் பார்க்கப்போய், “என் தந்தையே! தந்தையே! இஸ்ரயேலுக்கு தேர்களையும், குதிரைவீரர்களையும்போல் இருந்தவரே!” என்று சொல்லி அவனுக்காக அழுதான்.

15 Then Elisha sayde vnto him, Take a bowe and arrowes. And he tooke vnto him bowe and arrowes.

எலிசா அவனை நோக்கி, “ஒரு வில்லும் சில அம்புகளும் கொண்டுவா” என்றான் அவன் அப்படியே கொண்டுவந்தான்.

16 And he sayde to the King of Israel, Put thine hand vpon the bowe. And he put his hand vpon it. And Elisha put his hands vpon the Kings hands,

எலிசா இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசனிடம், “வில்லை உம்முடைய கைகளில் எடும்” என்றான். அரசன் அவ்வாறே எடுத்தபோது, எலிசா தன் கையை அரசனின் கையில் வைத்தான்.

17 And saide, Open the windowe Eastward. And when he had opened it, Elisha said, Shoote. And he shot. And he sayd, Beholde the arrowe of the Lordes deliuerance and the arrowe of deliuerance against Aram: for thou shalt smite the Aramites in Aphek, till thou hast consumed them.

“கிழக்குப் பக்கமாக ஜன்னலைத் திறந்திடும்” என்றான். அப்படியே அரசன் ஜன்னலைத் திறந்தான். அப்பொழுது எலிசா, “எய்திடும்” என்றான். அவன் அப்படியே செய்தான். எலிசா அவனைப் பார்த்து, “இது யெகோவாவினுடைய வெற்றியின் அம்பு. சீரியரின்மேல் வெற்றியைக் கொண்டுவரும் அம்பு; நீ சீரியரை ஆப்பெக்கில் முழுவதுமாக அழித்துப்போடுவாய்” என்று கூறினான்.

18 Againe he said, Take the arrowes. And he tooke them. And he sayde vnto the King of Israel, Smite the ground. And he smote thrise, and ceased.

அதன்பின்பும் எலிசா அரசனை நோக்கி, “அந்த அம்புகளை எடும்” என்றான். அரசன் அவற்றை எடுத்தான். அப்பொழுது எலிசா இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசனிடம், “அவற்றை நிலத்தில் அடியும்” என்றான். அவன் மூன்றுமுறை அடித்து நிறுத்தினான்.

19 Then the man of God was angry with him, and sayde, Thou shouldest haue smitten fiue or sixe times, so thou shouldest haue smitten Aram, till thou haddest consumed it, where nowe thou shalt smite Aram but thrise.

இறைவனுடைய மனிதன் அவன்மேல் கோபங்கொண்டு, “நீர் நிலத்தில் ஐந்துமுறை அல்லது ஆறுமுறை அடித்திருக்க வேண்டும். அவ்வாறு அடித்திருந்தால் சீரியாவை முழுவதும் தோற்கடித்திருப்பீர். இப்போதோ மூன்றுமுறை மாத்திரம் தான் சீரியாவை தோற்கடிப்பீர்” என்றான்.

20 So Elisha dyed, and they buryed him. And certaine bandes of the Moabites came into the land that yeere.

அதன்பின் எலிசா இறந்து அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டான். மோவாபிய கொள்ளையர் ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் வசந்தகாலத்தில் நாட்டுக்குள் நுழைவது வழக்கமாயிருந்தது.

21 And as they were burying a man, behold, they saw the souldiers: therfore they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha. And when the man was downe, and touched the bones of Elisha, he reuiued and stoode vpon his feete.

ஒருமுறை இஸ்ரயேலர் ஒரு மனிதனை அடக்கம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில் திடீரென ஒரு கொள்ளைக் கூட்டத்தைக் கண்டார்கள். உடனே அந்த உடலை எலிசாவின் கல்லறைக்குள் தூக்கி எறிந்தார்கள். அந்த உடல் எலிசாவின் எலும்புகளில் பட்டவுடனே அவன் உயிர்பெற்று தன் கால்களை ஊன்றி எழுந்து நின்றான்.

22 But Hazael King of Aram vexed Israel all the dayes of Iehoahaz.

யோவாகாசின் ஆட்சிக் காலமெல்லாம் சீரிய அரசனாகிய ஆசகேல் இஸ்ரயேலரை ஒடுக்கினான்.

23 Therefore the Lord had mercy on them and pitied them, and had respect vnto them because of his couenant with Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from him as yet.

ஆனால் யெகோவா ஆபிரகாம், ஈசாக்கு, யாக்கோபு ஆகியோருடன் செய்த உடன்படிக்கைக்காக அவர்கள்மேல் கிருபையாயிருந்து அவர்களில் இரக்கமும், கரிசனையும் காட்டினார். இன்றுவரை அவர் தமது முன்னிலையிலிருந்து அவர்களை அழிக்கவோ, அகற்றவோ விருப்பமற்றவராகவே இருக்கிறார்.

24 So Hazael the King of Aram dyed: and Ben-hadad his sonne reigned in his stead.

சீரிய அரசன் ஆசகேல் இறந்தான். அவனுக்குப்பின் அவன் மகன் பெனாதாத் அரசனானான்.

25 Therefore Iehoash the sonne of Iehoahaz returned, and tooke out of the hand of Ben-hadad the sonne of Hazael the cities which he had taken away by warre out of the hand of Iehoahaz his father: for three times did Ioash beate him, and restored the cities vnto Israel.

யோவாகாசின் மகன் யோவாஸ் தன் தகப்பன் யோவாகாசிடமிருந்து, ஆசகேலின் மகனான பெனாதாத் கைப்பற்றிய நகரங்களை அவனிடமிருந்து திரும்பவும் பிடித்தான். யோவாஸ் அவனை மூன்றுமுறை தோற்கடித்து இஸ்ரயேல் பட்டணங்களைத் திரும்பப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டான்.
