2 Kings 10

1 Ahab had nowe seuentie sonnes in Samaria. And Iehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria vnto the rulers of Izreel, and to the Elders, and to the bringers vp of Ahabs children, to this effect,

Achab hatte siebzig Söhne in Samaria. Nun schrieb Jehu einen Brief und sandte ihn nach Samaria an Jezreels Fürsten, an die Ältesten und die Vormünder der Achabsöhne, in dem es hieß:

2 Nowe when this letter commeth to you, (for ye haue with you your masters sonnes, yee haue with you both charets and horses, and a defenced citie, and armour)

"Gelangt dieser Brief an euch - bei euch sind eures Herrn Söhne und auf eurer Seite die Wagen, Rosse, Festungen und das Zeughaus -,

3 Consider therefore which of your masters sonnes is best and most meete, and set him on his fathers throne, and fight for your masters house.

dann wählt den besten und tüchtigsten aus den Söhnen eures Herrn, setzt ihn auf seines Vaters Thron und kämpft für das Haus eures Herrn!"

4 But they were exceedingly afraid, and saide, Behold two Kings coulde not stande before him, how shall we then stand?

Jene aber fürchteten sich gewaltig und sprachen: "Zwei Könige haben nicht vor ihm standgehalten. Wie könnten wir bestehen?"

5 And he that was gouernour of Ahabs house, and he that ruled the citie, and the Elders, and the bringers vp of the children sent to Iehu, saying, We are thy seruants, and will doe all that thou shalt bid vs: we will make no King: do what seemeth good to thee.

So schickten die Vorsteher des Hauses und der Stadtoberste sowie die Ältesten und Vormünder zu Jehu und ließen sagen: "Wir sind deine Sklaven, und alles, was du uns befiehlst, wollen wir tun. Wir machen niemanden zum König. Tu, was dir gut dünkt!"

6 Then he wrote another letter to them, saying, If ye be mine, and wil obey my voyce, take the heads of ye men that are your masters sonnes, and come to me to Izreel by to morowe this time. (Nowe the Kings sonnes, euen seuentie persons were with the great men of the citie, which brought them vp)

Er schrieb zum zweitenmal einen Brief des Inhalts: "Haltet ihr zu mir und hört ihr auf meine Stimme, dann nehmt die Häupter der Männer, der Söhne eures Herrn, und kommt zu mir morgen um diese Zeit nach Jezreel!" Des Königs Söhne, siebzig Mann, aber waren in der Stadt bei den Vornehmen, die sie aufzogen.

7 And when the letter came to them, they tooke the Kings sonnes, and slewe the seuentie persons, and layde their heads in baskets, and sent them vnto him to Izreel.

Als der Brief an sie kam, ergriffen sie des Königs Söhne und schlachteten sie ab, siebzig Mann. Dann legten sie ihre Köpfe in Körbe und schickten sie nach Jezreel.

8 Then there came a messenger and tolde him, saying, They haue brought the heads of the Kings sonnes. And he sayd, Let them lay them on two heapes at the entring in of the gate vntil the morning.

Da kam der Bote und meldete ihm: "Man bringt die Köpfe der Königssöhne." Er sprach: "Legt sie in zwei Haufen vor den Toreingang bis zum Morgen!"

9 And when it was day, he went out, and stood and sayd to all the people, Ye be righteous: behold, I conspired against my master, and slew him: but who slew all these?

Am anderen Morgen ging er hinaus, trat hin und sprach zum ganzen Volk: "Ihr seid ohne Schuld. Ich habe mich gegen meinen Herrn verschworen und ihn umgebracht. Wer aber hat all diese erschlagen?

10 Knowe nowe that there shall fall vnto the earth nothing of the word of the Lord, which the Lord spake concerning the house of Ahab: for the Lord hath brought to passe the things that hee spake by his seruant Eliiah.

Erkennet nun, daß nichts zu Boden fällt von des Herrn Wort, das der Herr gegen Achabs Haus gesprochen hat! Der Herr hat getan, was er durch seinen Diener Elias gesprochen hat."

11 So Iehu slew al that remained of the house of Ahab in Izreel, and all that were great with him, and his familiars and his priestes, so that he let none of his remaine.

Hierauf erschlug Jehu alle, die von Achabs Haus zu Jezreel übrig waren, ebenso alle seine Verwandten, Vertrauten und Priester. Keinen einzigen von ihm ließ er übrig.

12 And he arose, and departed and came to Samaria. And as Iehu was in the way by an house where the shepheards did shere,

Dann erhob er sich und zog nach Samaria. Er war gerade bei dem Schurhaus der Hirten.

13 He met with the brethre of Ahaziah king of Iudah, and sayd, Who are ye? And they answered, We are the brethren of Ahaziah, and goe downe to salute the children of the King and the children of the Queene.

Da traf Jehu des Judakönigs Achazja Brüder und fragte: "Wer seid ihr?" Sie sprachen: "Wir sind die Brüder des Achazja und kommen herab, die Königssöhne und die Söhne der Königinmutter zu begrüßen."

14 And he sayde, Take them aliue. And they tooke them aliue, and slew them at the well beside the house where the sheepe are shorne, euen two and fourtie men, and he left not one of them.

Da rief er: "Greift sie lebendig!" Sie ergriffen sie lebendig und schlachteten sie in der Grube des Schurhauses ab, zweiundvierzig Mann. Keinen von ihnen ließ er übrig.

15 And when he was departed thence, hee met with Iehonadab the sonne of Rechab comming to meete him, and he blessed him, and sayde to him, Is thine heart vpright, as mine heart is towarde thine? And Iehonadab answered, Yea, doubtlesse. Then giue me thine hande. And when he had giuen him his hande, he tooke him vp to him into the charet.

Von da zog er weiter und traf Rekabs Sohn Jonadab, der ihm entgegenkam. Er grüßte ihn und fragte ihn: "Ist dein Herz zu mir so aufrichtig wie meines zu deinem?" Jonadab sprach: "Jawohl! Gib mir deine Hand!" Da gab er ihm die Hand und hob ihn zu sich auf seinen Wagen.

16 And he sayde, Come with me, and see the zeale that I haue for the Lord: so they made him ride in his charet.

Und er sprach: "Geh mit mir und schaue deine Lust an meinem Eifern für den Herrn!" So fuhren sie auf seinem Wagen.

17 And when he came to Samaria, he slew all that remained vnto Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed him, according to the worde of the Lord, which he spake to Eliiah.

So kam er nach Samaria und erschlug alle, die von Achab zu Samaria übrig waren, bis er sie vertilgt hatte, nach des Herrn Wort, das er zu Elias gesprochen hatte.

18 Then Iehu assembled all the people, and sayd vnto them, Ahab serued Baal a litle, but Iehu shall serue him much more.

Dann versammelte Jehu das ganze Volk und sprach zu ihm: "Achab hat dem Baal zuwenig gedient. Jehu wird ihm eifriger dienen.

19 Now therefore call vnto me all ye prophets of Baal, all his seruants, and all his priests, and let not a man be lacking: for I haue a great sacrifice for Baal: whosoeuer is lacking, he shall not liue. But Iehu did it by a subtiltie to destroy ye seruats of Baal.

So ruft jetzt alle Baalspropheten, alle seine Diener und alle seine Priester zu mir! Keiner fehle! Denn ich habe ein großes Opferfest für den Baal vor. Wer fehlt, bleibt nicht am Leben." Jehu aber handelte hinterlistig, um die Baalsdiener umzubringen.

20 And Iehu sayd, Proclaime a solemne assemblie for Baal. And they proclaimed it.

Jehu sprach: "Verkündet eine Festversammlung für den Baal!" Und sie riefen diese aus.

21 So Iehu sent vnto all Israel, and all the seruants of Baal came, and there was not a man left that came not. And they came into the house of Baal, and the house of Baal was full from ende to ende.

Dann sandte Jehu in ganz Israel umher. Und alle Baalsdiener kamen. Nicht einer blieb zurück, der nicht gekommen wäre. Also kamen sie in das Haus des Baal, und das Baalshaus ward voll von einer Ecke bis zur anderen.

22 Then he said vnto him that had the charge of the vestrie, Bring forth vestments for al the seruants of Baal. And he brought the out vestments.

Da sprach er zum Vorstand der Kleiderkammer: "Gib für alle Baalsdiener Gewänder heraus!" Da gab er für sie die Gewänder heraus.

23 And when Iehu went, and Iehonadab the sonne of Rechab into the house of Baal, he sayde vnto the seruants of Baal, Searche diligently, and looke, lest there be here with you any of the seruants of the Lord, but the seruants of Baal only.

Dann kam Jehu mit dem Rekabsohn Jonadab in das Baalshaus. Er sprach zu den Baalsdienern: "Forscht nach und seht, ob nicht bei euch einer von den Dienern des Herrn ist! Nur Baalsdiener allein seien da!"

24 And when they went in to make sacrifice and burnt offering, Iehu appoynted foure score men without, and sayd, If any of the men whome I haue brought into your hands, escape, his soule shalbe for his soule.

So kamen sie, Schlacht- und Brandopfer herzurichten. Jehu aber stellte draußen achtzig Mann auf. Er sprach: "Wer einen der Männer, die ich euch in die Hände liefere, entkommen läßt, der haftet dafür mit seinem Leben."

25 And when hee had made an ende of the burnt offring, Iehu sayde to the garde, and to the captaines, Goe in, slay them, let not a man come out. And they smote them with the edge of the sworde. And the garde, and the captaines cast them out, and went vnto the citie, where was the temple of Baal.

Als man mit der Zurichtung des Brandopfers fertig war, sprach Jehu zu den Läufern und den Kriegern: "Kommt und schlagt sie! Keiner darf heraus!" Da schlugen sie sie mit dem Schwerte. Die Läufer aber und die Krieger schafften sie heraus. Dann gingen sie wieder in das Baalshaus.

26 And they brought out the images of the temple of Baal, and burnt them.

Hier schafften sie die Denksäulen des Baalshauses heraus und verbrannten sie.

27 And they destroyed the image of Baal, and threwe downe the house of Baal, and made a iakes of it vnto this day.

Dann zertrümmerten sie das Mal des Baal und das Baalshaus und machten daraus Kloaken bis auf diesen Tag.

28 So Iehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.

So tilgte Jehu aus Israel den Baal.

29 But from the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat which made Israel to sinne, Iehu departed not from them, neither from the golden calues that were in Beth-el and that were in Dan.

Aber von des Nebatsohnes Jeroboam Sünden, zu denen er Israel verführt hatte, ließ Jehu nicht, von den goldenen Kälbern in Dan und Betel.

30 And the Lord sayde vnto Iehu, Because thou hast diligently executed that which was right in mine eyes, and hast done vnto the house of Ahab according to all things that were in mine heart, therefore shall thy sonnes vnto the fourth generation sit on the throne of Israel.

Der Herr aber sprach zu Jehu: "Weil du richtig ausgeführt hast, was recht in meinen Augen, und weil du ganz nach meinem Sinn am Achabhaus getan, so sollen deine Nachkommen bis in das vierte Glied auf Israels Thron sitzen!"

31 But Iehu regarded not to walke in the law of the Lord God of Israel with all his heart: for hee departed not from the sinnes of Ieroboam, which made Israel to sinne.

Aber Jehu hatte nicht acht, im Gesetze des Herrn, des Gottes Israels, von ganzem Herzen zu wandeln. Er ließ nicht von Jeroboams Sünden, zu denen er Israel verführt hatte.

32 In those dayes the Lord began to lothe Israel, and Hazael smote them in all the coastes of Israel,

Zu jener Zeit begann der Herr Israel zu verringern. Chazael nämlich schlug sie im ganzen Grenzgebiet Israels,

33 From Iorden Eastward, euen all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and them that were of Manasseh, from Aroer (which is by the riuer Arnon) and Gilead and Bashan.

vom Jordan östlich das ganze Land Gilead, die Gaditen, Rubeniten und Manassiten von Aroër am Arnonfluß, Gilead und Basan.

34 Concerning the rest of the actes of Iehu, and all that he did, and all his valiant deedes, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Ist nicht der Rest der Geschichte Jehus und alles, was er sonst getan, sowie seine ganze Tapferkeit im Geschichtsbuche der Könige Israels aufgezeichnet?

35 And Iehu slept with his fathers, and they buryed him in Samaria, and Iehoahaz his sonne reigned in his stead.

Als sich Jehu zu seinen Vätern legte, begrub man ihn zu Samaria, und sein Sohn Joachaz ward an seiner Statt König.

36 And the time that Iehu reigned ouer Israel in Samaria is eight and twentie yeeres.

Die Zeit, die Jehu über Israel zu Samaria regierte, betrug achtundzwanzig Jahre.
