2 Corinthians 2
1 Bvt I determined thus in my selfe, that I would not come againe to you in heauinesse.
Ich nahm mir aber vor, nicht mehr zu euch zu kommen, wenn ich betrüben müßte.
2 For if I make you sorie, who is he then that shoulde make me glad, but ye same which is made sorie by me?
Denn wenn ich euch betrübe, wer sollte mir dann Freude machen, wenn nicht gerade der von mir Betrübte?
3 And I wrote this same thing vnto you, lest when I came, I should take heauines of them, of whom I ought to reioyce: this confidence haue I in you all, that my ioye is the ioye of you all.
Darum habe ich die Angelegenheit durch einen Brief erledigt, damit, wenn ich komme, ich nicht an denen Trauer erleben mußte, von denen ich doch Freude haben sollte. Ich habe das Vertrauen zu euch allen, daß meine Freude auch die von euch allen ist.
4 For in great affliction, and anguish of heart I wrote vnto you with many teares: not that yee should be made sorie, but that ye might perceiue the loue which I haue, specially vnto you.
Aus großer Drangsal nämlich und aus Herzensangst habe ich mit vielen Tränen euch geschrieben, doch nicht etwa, damit ihr betrübt würdet, vielmehr, damit ihr die übergroße Liebe erkennt, die ich zu euch habe.
5 And if any hath caused sorowe, the same hath not made mee sorie, but partly (lest I should more charge him) you all.
Hat einer aber Betrübnis verursacht, so hat er mich zwar nicht betrübt, jedoch zum Teil - ich will nicht übertreiben - euch alle.
6 It is sufficient vnto the same man, that hee was rebuked of many.
Die Strafe, die die Mehrzahl über ihn verhängt hat, mag ihm genügen.
7 So that nowe contrariwise yee ought rather to forgiue him, and comfort him, lest the same shoulde bee swalowed vp with ouermuch heauinesse.
So wollt ihm jetzt eher wiederum verzeihen und ihn trösten, damit er nicht in seiner übergroßen Traurigkeit untergehe.
8 Wherefore, I pray you, that you woulde confirme your loue towards him.
So mahne ich euch denn, ihm Liebe zu erweisen.
9 For this cause also did I write, that I might knowe the proofe of you, whether yee would be obedient in all things.
Habe ich doch gerade deshalb geschrieben, um euch zu prüfen, ob ihr in allem durchaus gehorsam seid.
10 To whome yee forgiue any thing, I forgiue also: for verely if I forgaue any thing, to whome I forgaue it, for your sakes forgaue I it in the sight of Christ,
Wem aber ihr irgend etwas verzeihst, dem verzeihe auch ich; denn habe ich verziehen - sofern ich überhaupt etwas zu verzeihen hatte -, so tat ich es um euretwillen vor dem Antlitz Christi.
11 Lest Satan should circumuent vs: for we are not ignorant of his enterprises.
Wir wollen uns doch nicht vom Satan überlisten lassen; wir kennen seine Schliche nur zu gut.
12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christs Gospell, and a doore was opened vnto me of the Lord,
Als ich nach Troas kam, um das Evangelium Christi zu verkünden, da tat sich mir im Herrn eine Türe auf.
13 I had no rest in my spirit, because I founde not Titus my brother, but tooke my leaue of them, and went away into Macedonia.
Doch hatte ich in meinem Innern keine Ruhe, weil ich meinen Bruder Titus nicht antraf. Ich nahm deshalb dort Abschied und ging nach Mazedonien.
14 Now thankes be vnto God, which alwaies maketh vs to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the sauour of his knowledge by vs in euery place.
Gott sei Dank, der uns allzeit in Christus triumphieren und den Duft seiner Erkenntnis überall durch uns verbreiten läßt.
15 For wee are vnto God the sweete sauour of Christ, in them that are saued, and in them which perish.
Denn Christi Wohlgeruch sind wir für Gott bei denen, die Rettung finden, und bei denen, die verlorengehen:
16 To the one we are the sauour of death, vnto death, and to the other the sauour of life, vnto life: and who is sufficient for these things?
den einen ein Geruch des Todes, der den Tod bewirkt, und für die andere ein Wohlgeruch des Lebens, der Leben schafft. Und wer ist dazu fähig?
17 For wee are not as many, which make marchandise of the woorde of God: but as of sinceritie, but as of God in ye sight of God speake we in Christ.
Wir freilich machen es nicht so, wie es so viele tun, daß wir das Gotteswort verschachern würden; wir reden vielmehr nur aus Lauterkeit, wie aus Gott so vor Gott in Christus.
