2 Chronicles 7
1 And when Salomon had made an ende of praying, fire came downe from heauen, and consumed the burnt offring and the sacrifices: and the glory of the Lord filled the house,
Aussitôt que Salomon eut achevé sa prière, le feu du ciel descendit et dévora les holocaustes, et la gloire du Seigneur remplit le temple.
2 So that the Priestes could not euter into the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lordes house.
Et, à ce moment-là, les prêtres ne purent entrer dans le temple, parce qu'il était rempli de la gloire du Seigneur.
3 And when all the children of Israel saw the fire, and the glory of the Lord come downe vpon the house, they bowed themselues with their faces to the earth vpon the pauement, and worshipped and praysed the Lord, saying, For he is good, because his mercy lasteth for euer.
Et tous les fils d'Israël virent le feu descendre; et la gloire du Seigneur remplir l'édifice, et ils tombèrent la face sur le pavé du temple, et ils adorèrent le Seigneur, et ils le louèrent, à cause de sa bonté et de sa miséricorde infinies.
4 Then the King and all the people offred sacrifices before the Lord.
Ensuite, le roi et tout le peuple immolèrent des victimes devant le Seigneur.
5 And King Salomon offered a sacrifice of two and twentie thousand bullockes, and an hundreth and twentie thousand sheepe. so the King and all the people dedicated the house of God.
Et le roi Salomon offrit en sacrifice vingt-deux mille bœufs, et cent vingt mille têtes de menu bétail; le roi et tout le peuple firent ainsi la dédicace du temple de Dieu.
6 And the Priests waited on their offices, and the Leuites with the instruments of musicke of the Lord, which King Dauid had made to praise the Lord, Because his mercy lasteth for euer: whe Dauid praysed God by them, the Priestes also blewe trumpets ouer against them: and all they of Israel stoode by.
Et les prêtres; chacun à son poste, et les lévites, avec les instruments et les chants du roi David, rendaient gloire au Seigneur et à sa miséricorde éternelle; devant eux, des prêtres sonnaient de la trompette, et tout le peuple se tenait debout.
7 Moreouer Salomon halowed the middle of the court that was before the house of the Lord: for there hee had prepared burnt offerings, and the fatte of the peace offerings, because the brasen altar which Salomon had made, was not able to receiue the burnt offering, and the meate offring, and the fat.
Et Salomon consacra le milieu du parvis du temple, car c'est là qu'il offrit les holocaustes et qu'il brûla la graisse des hosties pacifiques; car l'autel d'airain, qu'avait fait Salomon, ne suffisait pas à contenir les holocaustes, les oblations et la graisse.
8 And Salomon made a feast at that time of seuen dayes, and all Israel with him, a very great Congregation, from the entring in of Hamath, vnto the riuer of Egypt.
Et le roi Salomon, en ce même temps-là, fit une fête de sept jours; avec lui était Israël, grande assemblée venue depuis l'entrée d'Emath jusqu'au fleuve d'Égypte.
9 And in the eight day they made a solemne assemblie: for they had made the dedication of the altar seuen daies, and the feast seuen dayes.
Et le huitième jour il sanctifia la fin de la fête, parce que la fête de la Dédicace de l'autel avait duré sept jours.
10 And the three and twentieth day of the seuenth moneth, he sent the people away into their tentes, ioyous and with glad heart, because of the goodnesse that the Lord had done for Dauid and for Salomon, and for Israel his people.
Et le vingt-troisième jour du septième mois, il renvoya le peuple, chacun en sa demeure, la joie dans le cœur, pénétré des biens que le Seigneur avait accordés à David, à Salomon et à Israël, son peuple.
11 So Salomon finished the house of the Lord, and the Kings house, and all that came into Salomons heart to make in the house of the Lord: and he prospered in his house.
Or, Salomon avait achevé le temple du Seigneur, et son propre palais; et tout ce qu'en son âme il avait désiré faire dans le temple et dans le palais, il l'avait heureusement accompli.
12 And the Lord appeared to Salomon by night and said to him, I haue heard thy prayer, and haue chosen this place for my selfe to be an house of sacrifice.
Et le Seigneur lui apparut pendant la nuit, et il dit: J'ai entendu ta prière; je me suis choisi ce lieu pour qu'il y eût un temple où l'on me sacrifiât.
13 If I shut the heauen that there be no raine, or if I commaund the grashopper to deuoure the lande, or if I sende pestilence among my people,
Si je ferme le ciel et qu'il n'y ait point de pluie; si je commande aux sauterelles de dévorer vos arbres; si j'envoie la peste à mon peuple;
14 If my people, among whome my Name is called vpon, doe humble them selues, and praye, and seeke my presence, and turne from their wicked wayes, then will I heare in heauen, and be mercifull to their sinne, and wil heale their land:
Et si mon peuple, pour qui mon nom est invoqué, rentre en soi-même, s'il prie, s'il désire ma présence, s'il se détourne de la mauvaise voie, je l'entendrai du haut du ciel; je serai miséricordieux pour ses péchés, et je guérirai sa terre.
15 Then mine eies shalbe open and mine eares attent vnto the prayer made in this place.
Et mes yeux seront ouverts, et mes oreilles seront attentives à la prière qui sera faite eu ce temple.
16 For I haue nowe chosen and sanctified this house, that my Name may be there for euer: and mine eyes and mine heart shalbe there perpetually.
Car j'ai choisi et sanctifié cette demeure pour que mon nom y réside éternellement, et mes yeux et mon cœur y seront dans tous les siècles.
17 And if thou wilt walke before me, as Dauid thy father walked, to doe according vnto all that I haue commanded thee, and shalt obserue my statutes and my iudgements,
Et, si tu marches devant moi comme ton père, si tu fais ce que je t'ai prescrit, si tu observes mes commandements et mes préceptes,
18 Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdome, according as I made the couenant with Dauid thy father, saying, Thou shalt not want a man to be ruler in Israel.
Je maintiendrai ton trône royal, selon l'alliance que j'ai faite avec David, disant: Jamais, en Israël, il ne manquera de chef issu de toi.
19 But if ye turne away, and forsake my statutes and my commandements which I haue set before you, and shall goe and serue other gods, and worshippe them,
Mais si vous vous pervertissez, si vous abandonnez les commandements et les préceptes que j'ai mis devant vous, si vous suivez, si vous servez d'autres dieux, si vous les adorez,
20 Then will I plucke them vp out of my lande, which I haue giuen them, and this house which I haue sanctified for my Name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a prouerbe and a common talke among all people.
Je vous enlèverai de la terre que j'ai donnée à vos pères, je rejetterai loin de ma vue ce temple que j'ai consacré à mon nom; j'en ferai la fable et le jouet des gentils.
21 And this house which is most hie, shall be an astonishment to euery one that passeth by it, so that he shall say, Why hath the Lord done thus to this lande, and to this house?
Et cette demeure superbe, le passant, à son aspect, sera frappé de stupeur, et il s'écriera: Quel sujet a donc eu le Seigneur pour traiter ainsi leur terre et ce temple?
22 And they shall answere, Because they forsooke the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the lande of Egypt, and haue taken holde on other gods, and haue worshipped them, and serued them, therefore hath he brought all this euill vpon them.
Et l'on répondra: C'est qu'ils ont abandonné le Seigneur Dieu de leurs pères, qui les avait ramenés de l'Égypte, et qu'ils ont pris d'autres dieux, qu'ils les ont adorés, qu'ils les ont servis; à cause de cela, il a fait fondre sur eux tous ces maux.
