2 Chronicles 6
1 Then Salomon sayd, The Lord hath sayde that he would dwell in the darke cloude:
Et Salomon s'écria: Le Seigneur avait dit qu'il habiterait dans le nuage.
2 And I haue built thee an house to dwell in, an habitation for thee to dwell in for euer.
Et moi, Seigneur, j'ai construit à votre saint nom un temple, préparé pour vous abriter à jamais.
3 And the King turned his face, and blessed all the Congregation of Israel (for all the Congregation of Israel stoode there)
Puis, le roi se retourna, et il bénit toute l'Église d'Israël, et toute l'Église d'Israël était debout.
4 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who spake with his mouth vnto Dauid my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying,
Et il ajouta: Béni soit le Seigneur Dieu d'Israël, qui, de sa bouche, a parlé, concernant David, mon père; et qui, de ses mains, a rempli ses promesses; il avait dit:
5 Since the day that I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no citie of al the tribes of Israel to buylde an house, that my Name might be there, neyther chose I any man to be a ruler ouer my people Israel:
Depuis le jour où j'ai tiré mon peuple de l'Égypte, je n'avais point choisi de ville, parmi toutes les tribus d'Israël, pour qu'on bâtit un temple ou résidât mon nom; je n'avais point fait choix d'un homme qui fût le chef de mon peuple Israël.
6 But I haue chosen Ierusalem, that my Name might be there, and haue chosen Dauid to be ouer my people Israel.
Depuis, j'ai choisi Jérusalem pour que mon nom y réside, et j'ai choisi David pour qu'il soit sur mon peuple Israël.
7 And it was in the heart of Dauid my father to builde an house vnto the Name of the Lord God of Israel,
Or, mon père avait en son cœur la pensée de bâtir un temple au nom du Seigneur Dieu d'Israël.
8 But the Lord sayde to Dauid my father, Whereas it was in thine heart to buylde an house vnto my Name, thou diddest well, that thou wast so minded.
Et le Seigneur dit à David, mon père: La pensée est venue en ton cœur de bâtir un temple à mon nom; il est bon qu'elle soit venue à ton cœur.
9 Notwithstanding thou shalt not build the house, but thy sonne which shall come out of thy loynes, he shall buylde an house vnto my Name.
Néanmoins, tu ne bâtiras point ce temple: c'est le fils issu de tes entrailles qui le bâtira à mon nom.
10 And the Lord hath performed his worde that he spake: and I am risen vp in the roume of Dauid my father, and am set on the throne of Israel as the Lord promised, and haue built an house to the Name of the Lord God of Israel.
Le Seigneur a relevé la parole qu'il avait dite; j'ai été suscité à la place de David, mon père, et je me suis assis sur le trône d'Israël, comme l'avait dit le Seigneur, et j'ai bâti un temple au nom du Seigneur Dieu d'Israël.
11 And I haue set the Arke there, wherein is the couenant of the Lord, that he made with the children of Israel.
Et j'ai placé l'arche qui renferme l'alliance que le Seigneur a faite avec Israël.
12 And the King stoode before the altar of the Lord, in the presence of all the Congregation of Israel, and stretched out his hands,
Ensuite, Salomon se tint devant l'autel du Seigneur et devant toute l'Église d'Israël, et il étendit les mains;
13 (For Salomon had made a brasen skaffold and set it in the middes of the court, of fiue cubites long, and fiue cubites broade, and three cubites of height, and vpon it he stoode, and kneeled downe vpon his knees before all the Congregation of Israel, and stretched out his hands toward heauen)
Car il avait fait un piédestal d'airain qu'il avait placé au milieu du parvis du grand prêtre; ce piédestal avait cinq coudées de long, sur cinq de large, et trois de haut; or, le roi y était monté, et il se mit à genoux devant toute l'Église d'Israël, et il étendit les mains vers le ciel,
14 And sayd, O Lord God of Israel, there is no God like thee in heauen nor in earth, which keepest couenant, and mercie vnto thy seruants, that walke before thee with all their heart.
Et il dit: Seigneur Dieu d'Israël, il n'est point au ciel et sur la terre de Dieu tel que vous, gardant alliance et miséricorde pour vos serviteurs qui marchent de toute leur âme devant vous.
15 Thou that hast kept with thy seruant Dauid my father, that thou hast promised him: for thou spakest with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand, as appeareth this day.
Ce que vous avez réservé à votre serviteur David, ce que vous lui avez promis, ce que vous lui avez dit de votre bouche, vous l'avez exécuté de vos mains, comme il se voit aujourd'hui.
16 Therefore now Lord God of Israel, keepe with thy seruant Dauid my father, that thou hast promised him, saying, Thou shalt not want a man in my sight, that shall sit vpon the throne of Israel: so that thy sonnes take heede to their wayes, to walke in my Lawe, as thou hast walked before me.
Maintenant, Seigneur Dieu d'Israël, gardez pour votre serviteur David, mon père, cette parole que vous lui avez dite: il ne manquera jamais d'hommes de ton sang pour être assis sur le trône d'Israël, devant ma face, pourvu que tes enfants observent leurs voies, et qu'ils marchent, à mes yeux, comme toi-même as marché.
17 And now, O Lord God of Israel, let thy worde be verified, which thou spakest vnto thy seruant Dauid.
Maintenant, Seigneur Dieu d'Israël, que votre promesse à David, mon père, votre serviteur, soit confirmée.
18 (Is it true in deede that God will dwell with man on earth? beholde, the heauens, and the heauens of heauens are not able to conteine thee: how much more vnable is this house, which I haue buylt?)
Est-il donc croyable que Dieu réside sur la terre parmi les hommes? Si le ciel et le ciel des cieux ne peuvent vous contenir, comment ce temple, que j'ai bâti à votre nom, vous contiendrait-il?
19 But haue thou respect to the prayer of thy seruant, and to his supplication, O Lord my God, to heare the crye and prayer which thy seruant prayeth before thee,
O Seigneur Dieu d'Israël, considérez la demande et la prière de votre serviteur, pour exaucer la demande et la prière que fait aujourd'hui devant vous votre serviteur.
20 That thine eyes may be open toward this house day and night, euen toward the place, whereof thou hast sayde, that thou wouldest put thy Name there, that thou mayest hearken vnto the prayer, which thy seruant prayeth in this place.
Que vos yeux soient ouverts nuit et jour sur ce temple, sur ce lieu dont vous avez dit que votre nom y serait invoqué; accueillez la prière que vous fait en ce lieu votre serviteur.
21 Heare thou therefore the supplication of thy seruant, and of thy people Israel, which they pray in this place: and heare thou in the place of thine habitation, euen in heauen, and when thou hearest, be mercifull.
Oui, vous écouterez la prière de votre serviteur et de votre peuple Israël, toutes les fois qu'ils prieront dans ce lieu; vous les entendrez du lieu que vous habitez au ciel, et vous les exaucerez, et vous leur serez propice.
22 When a man shall sinne against his neighbour, and he laye vpon him an othe to cause him to sweare, and the swearer shall come before thine altar in this house,
Si un homme a péché contre son prochain, et que celui-ci prête serment contre lui et qu'il lui défère le serment, et que le premier vienne jurer dans ce temple devant votre autel,
23 Then heare thou in heauen, and doe, and iudge thy seruants, in recompensing the wicked to bring his way vpon his head, and in iustifying the righteous, to giue him according to his righteousnes.
Vous l'entendrez du haut du ciel, et vous agirez, et vous jugerez vos serviteurs, pour rétribuer l'inique et faire retomber ses mauvaises voies sur sa tête; pour justifier le juste et le rétribuer selon son équité.
24 And when thy people Israel shalbe ouerthrowen before the enemie, because they haue sinned against thee, and turne againe, and confesse thy Name, and pray, and make supplication before thee in this house,
Et si votre peuple Israël est frappé par son ennemi; s'ils ont péché contre vous, et qu'ils se convertissent, qu'ils rendent hommage à votre nom, qu'ils prient et supplient devant vous en ce temple;
25 Then heare thou in heauen, and be mercifull vnto the sinne of thy people Israel, and bring them againe vnto the land which thou gauest to them and to their fathers.
Vous les entendrez du haut du ciel, et vous serez miséricordieux pour les péchés de votre peuple Israël, et vous les ramènerez dans la terre que vous avez donnée à eux et à leurs pères.
26 When heauen shall be shut vp, and there shalbe no rayne, because they haue sinned against thee, and shall pray in this place, and confesse thy Name, and turne from their sinne, when thou doest afflict them,
Lorsque vous aurez fermé le ciel et qu'il n'y aura plus de pluie, parce qu'ils auront péché contre vous, ils prieront en ce lieu, et ils rendront gloire à votre nom, et ils feront pénitence de leurs péchés, après que vous les aurez humiliés.
27 Then heare thou in heauen, and pardon the sinne of thy seruants, and of thy people Israel (when thou hast taught them the good way wherein they may walke) and giue rayne vpon thy lande, which thou hast giuen vnto thy people for an inheritance.
Et vous les entendrez du haut du ciel, et vous serez miséricordieux pour les péchés de vos serviteurs et de votre peuple Israël; car vous leur aurez montré la bonne voie qu'ils doivent suivre, et vous accorderez de la pluie à la terre que vous avez donnée en héritage à votre peuple.
28 When there shalbe famine in the land, when there shalbe pestilence, blasting, or mildew, when there shall be grashopper, or caterpiller, when their enemie shall besiege them in the cities of their land, or any plague or any sickenesse,
Lorsqu'il y aura en la terre: famine, mortalité, vents pestilentiels, jaunisse, sauterelles; lorsqu'un ennemi aura opprimé votre peuple devant ses villes; dans toutes nos plaies et nos peines,
29 Then what prayer and supplication so euer shalbe made of any man, or of all thy people Israel, whe euery one shall knowe his owne plague, and his owne disease, and shall stretch forth his hands toward this house,
Toute prière, toute supplication, que vous feront dans ce temple, les mains étendues, soit un homme, soit le peuple entier d'Israël, vous l'exaucerez. Si quelqu'un reconnaît sa faute et sa plaie,
30 Heare thou then in heauen, thy dwelling place, and be merciful, and giue euery man according vnto all his wayes, as thou doest knowe his heart (for thou onely knowest the hearts of the children of men)
Vous l'écouterez du haut du ciel, du lieu où est votre demeure; vous serez miséricordieux, et vous rétribuerez chacun selon sa voie, selon ce que vous aurez vu dans son cœur, car vous seul connaissez le cœur des fils des hommes.
31 That they may feare thee, and walke in thy wayes as long as they liue in the land which thou gauest vnto our fathers.
Ainsi, auront-ils crainte de toutes vos voies, tout le temps qu'ils vivront en la terre que vous avez donnée à nos pères.
32 Moreouer, as touching ye stranger which is not of thy people Israel, who shall come out of a farre countrey for thy great Names sake, and thy mighty hande, and thy stretched out arme: when they shall come and pray in this house,
Et tout étranger qui n'est point de votre peuple Israël, et qui viendra d'une contrée lointaine, à cause de votre grand nom, de votre forte main et de votre bras tout-puissant, entrera aussi et priera dans ce temple.
33 Heare thou in heauen thy dwelling place, and doe according to all that the stranger calleth for vnto thee, that all the people of the earth may knowe thy Name, and feare thee like thy people Israel, and that they may knowe, that thy Name is called vpon in this house which I haue built.
Et vous l'entendrez du haut du ciel, du lieu où est votre demeure; vous agirez selon la prière de l'étranger qui vous aura invoqué, afin que tous les peuples connaissent votre nom, et qu'ils aient crainte de vous, comme le peuple d'Israël, et qu'ils sachent que votre nom est invoqué dans ce temple que j'ai bâti.
34 When thy people shall goe out to battell against their enemies, by the way that thou shalt send them, and they pray to thee, in the way towarde this citie, which thou hast chosen, euen toward the house which I haue built to thy Name,
Si votre peuple va en guerre contre ses ennemis, en suivant la voie où vous l'aurez envoyé, et s'il invoque le nom du Seigneur, tourné vers la ville que vous vous êtes choisie, et vers le temple que j'ai bâti à votre nom,
35 Then heare thou in heauen their prayer and their supplication, and iudge their cause.
Vous entendrez du haut du ciel sa demande et sa prière, et vous rendrez sur lui votre jugement.
36 If they sinne against thee (for there is no man that sinneth not) and thou be angry with them and deliuer them vnto the enemies, and they take them and cary them away captiue vnto a land farre or neere,
Ils pècheront contre vous, car il n'est point d'homme qui ne pèche; vous les frapperez, vous les livrerez à des ennemis qui les emmèneront captifs en leur terre voisine ou lointaine.
37 If they turne againe to their heart in the lande whither they be caryed in captiues, and turne and pray vnto thee in the lande of their captiuitie, saying, We haue sinned, we haue transgressed and haue done wickedly,
Et en la terre où ils auront été transportés, ils convertiront leurs cœurs, et ils se repentiront, et ils prieront dans leur captivité, disant: Nous avons péché, nous avons été déréglés et iniques.
38 If they turne againe to thee with all their heart, and with all their soule in the land of their captiuitie, whither they haue caryed them captiues, and pray toward their land, which thou gauest vnto their fathers, and toward the citie which thou hast chosen, and toward the house which I haue built for thy Name,
Et ils reviendront à vous de tout leur cœur, de toute leur âme, en la contrée de ceux qui les auront pris, et où ils seront retenus captifs, et ils vous prieront, tournés vers la terre que vous avez donnée à leurs pères, vers la ville que vous vous êtes choisie, vers ce temple que j'ai bâti au nom du Seigneur.
39 Then heare thou in heauen, in the place of thine habitation their prayer and their supplication, and iudge their cause, and be mercifull vnto thy people, which haue sinned against thee.
Et vous entendrez du haut du ciel, du lieu de votre demeure, leur demande et leur prière; vous les jugerez, et vous serez miséricordieux envers ce peuple qui aura péché contre vous.
40 Nowe my God, I beseech thee, let thine eyes be open, and thine eares attent vnto the prayer that is made in this place.
Et maintenant, Seigneur, ouvrez les yeux, prêtez une oreille attentive à la prière que je fais en ce temple.
41 Nowe therefore arise, O Lord God, to come into thy rest, thou, and the Arke of thy strength: O Lord God, let thy Priestes be clothed with saluation, and let thy Saints reioyce in goodnesse.
Levez-vous, ô Seigneur mon Dieu, pour entrer dans ce lieu de repos avec l'arche de votre force; que vos prêtres se revêtent du salut, et que vos enfants se réjouissent de vos biens.
42 O Lord God, refuse not the face of thine anoynted: remember the mercies promised to Dauid thy seruant.
Seigneur Dieu, ne vous détournez pas de votre christ; souvenez-vous de votre miséricorde envers David, votre serviteur.
