2 Chronicles 34
1 Iosiah was eight yeere olde when hee began to reigne, and he reigned in Ierusalem one and thirtie yeere.
Josías tenía ocho años cuando empezó a reinar, y reinó treinta y un años en Jerusalén.
2 And he did vprightly in the sight of ye Lord, and walked in the wayes of Dauid his father, and bowed neither to the right hand nor to the left.
Hizo lo que era recto a los ojos de Yahvé, andando por los caminos de su padre David sin apartarse ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda.
3 And in the eight yeere of his reigne (when he was yet a childe) he began to seeke after the God of Dauid his father: and in the twelft yeere he began to purge Iudah, and Ierusalem from the hie places, and the groues, and the carued images, and molten images:
A los ocho años de su reinado, siendo todavía joven, comenzó a buscar al Dios de su padre David, y en el año doce empezó a limpiar a Judá y Jerusalén de los lugares altos, de las ascheras, de las estatuas y de las imágenes de fundición.
4 And they brake downe in his sight the altars of Baalim, and hee caused to cut downe the images that were on hie vpon them: he brake also the groues, and the carued images, and the molten images, and stampt them to pouder, and strowed it vpon the graues of them that had sacrificed vnto them.
Derribaron en su presencia los altares de los Baales, cortaron los pilares del sol, puestos en ellos, y quebró las ascheras, las imágenes y las piedras de culto reduciéndolas a polvo, que esparció sobre las sepulturas de los que les habían ofrecido sacrificios.
5 Also he burnt the bones of the Priests vpon their altars, and purged Iudah and Ierusalem.
Quemó los huesos de los sacerdotes sobre sus altares, y limpió a Judá y a Jerusalén.
6 And in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, euen vnto Naphtali, with their maules they brake all round about.
En las ciudades de Manasés, de Efraím y de Simeón, y hasta en Neftalí —en medio de las ruinas que las rodeaban—
7 And when he had destroyed the altars and the groues, and had broken and stamped to pouder the images, and had cut downe all the idoles throughout all the land of Israel, hee returned to Ierusalem.
derribó los altares, demolió las ascheras y las estatuas y las redujo a polvo, y cortó todos los pilares del sol en toda la tierra de Israel. Después regresó a Jerusalén.
8 Then in the eightenth yere of his reigne, when hee had purged the lande and the Temple, he sent Shaphan the sonne of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the gouernour of the citie, and Ioah the sonne of Ioahaz the recorder, to repaire the house of the Lord his God.
El año diez y ocho de su reinado, después de haber limpiado el país y la Casa (de Dios), mandó a Safán, hijo de Asalías, a Maasías, comandante de la ciudad, y a Joah, hijo de Joacaz, cronista, que se encargasen de la reparación de la Casa de Yahvé, su Dios.
9 And when they came to Hilkiah the hie Priest, they deliuered ye money that was brought into the house of God, which the Leuites that kept the doore, had gathered at the hand of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and of all the residue of Israel, and of all Iudah and Beniamin, and of the inhabitantes of Ierusalem.
Fueron ellos al Sumo Sacerdote Helcías, y entregaron el dinero traído a la Casa de Dios y el que los levitas porteros habían recaudado de Manasés y de Efraím y de todo el resto de Israel, como también de todo Judá y Benjamín, y de los habitantes de Jerusalén,
10 And they put it in the hands of them that should doe the worke and had the ouersight in the house of the Lord: and they gaue it to the workemen that wrought in the house of ye Lord, to repaire and amend the house.
a los encargados de las obras de la Casa de Yahvé; y estos lo dieron a los obreros que trabajaban en la Casa de Yahvé para reparar y restaurar la Casa.
11 Euen to the workemen and to the builders gaue they it, to bye hewed stone and timber for couples and for beames of the houses, which the Kings of Iudah had destroyed.
Lo dieron a los carpinteros y obreros de construcción para comprar piedras talladas y maderas para las trabazones y para el maderamen de los edificios destruidos por los reyes de Judá.
12 And the men did the worke faithfully, and the ouerseers of them were Iahath and Obadiah the Leuites, of the children of Merari, and Zechariah, and Meshullam, of the children of the Kohathites to set it forward: and of the Leuites all that could skill of instruments of musike.
Estos hombres hacían la obra con probidad. Estaban sobre ellos Jáhat y Obadías, levitas de los hijos de Merarí, y Zacarías y Mesullam, de los hijos de los caatitas, que los dirigían, así como otros levitas; todos ellos maestros en tañer instrumentos músicos.
13 And they were ouer the bearers of burdens, and them that set forwarde all the workemen in euery worke: and of the Leuites were scribes, and officers and porters.
Dirigían ellos también a los peones de carga y a todos los que hacían la obra, en cualquier clase de trabajo. Entre los levitas, había, además, escribas, comisarios y porteros.
14 And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the Lord, Hilkiah the Priest found the booke of the Lawe of the Lord giuen by the hand of Moses.
Cuando se sacaba el dinero depositado en la Casa de Yahvé, halló el sacerdote Helcías el Libro de la Ley de Yahvé, dada por Moisés;
15 Therefore Hilkiah answered and sayde to Shaphan the chaceler, I haue found the booke of the Law in the house of the Lord: and Hilkiah gaue the booke to Shaphan.
y dirigiéndose al secretario Safán, dijo Helcías: “He hallado el Libro de la Ley en la Casa de Yahvé”; y se lo entregó a Safán.
16 And Shaphan caried the booke to the King, and brought the King worde againe, saying, All that is committed to the hand of thy seruants, that do they.
Safán llevó el libro al rey, y rindiéndole cuenta, dijo: “Tus siervos están haciendo todo lo que les ha sido encargado.
17 For they haue gathered the money that was found in the house of the Lord, and haue deliuered it into the handes of the ouerseers, and to the handes of the workemen.
Pues han vaciado el dinero encontrado en la Casa de Yahvé, y lo han entregado a los sobrestantes y a los que hacen la obra.”
18 Also Shaphan ye chanceler declared to the King, saying, Hilkiah the Priest hath giuen mee a booke, and Shaphan read it before the King.
El secretario Safán dio al rey también la siguiente noticia: “El sacerdote Helcías me ha entregado un libro.” Y Safán lo leyó ante el rey.
19 And when the King had heard the wordes of the Lawe, he tare his clothes.
Cuando el rey oyó las palabras de la Ley, rasgó sus vestiduras,
20 And the King commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the sonne of Shaphan, and Abdon the sonne of Micah, and Shaphan the chanceler, and Asaiah the Kings seruant, saying,
y dio a Helcías, a Ahicam, hijo de Safán, a Abdón, hijo de Mica, a Safán secretario, y a Asayá, siervo del rey, esta orden:
21 Goe and enquire of the Lord for me, and for the rest in Israel and Iudah, concerning the wordes of this booke that is founde: for great is the wrath of the Lord that is fallen vpon vs, because our fathers haue not kept the worde of the Lord, to doe after all that is written in this booke.
“¡Id!, consultad a Yahvé por mí, y por el resto de Israel y de Judá, acerca de las palabras del libro que ha sido hallado; porque grande es la cólera de Yahvé que se ha derramado sobre nosotros; pues nuestros padres han transgredido la palabra de Yahvé, no haciendo conforme a todo lo escrito en este libro.”
22 Then Hilkiah and they that the King had appoynted, went to Huldah the Prophetesse ye wife of Shallum, the sonne of Tokhath, the sonne of Hasrah keeper of the wardrobe (and she dwelt in Ierusalem within the colledge) and they communed hereof with her.
Entonces Helcías y los (enviados) del rey, fueron a la profetisa Hulda, mujer del guardarropa Sellum, hijo de Tocat, hijo de Hasrá. Esta habitaba en Jerusalén, en el barrio segundo; y después que ellos la consultaron al respecto,
23 And shee answered them, Thus sayth the Lord God of Israel, Tell yee the man that sent you to me,
ella les respondió: “Así dice Yahvé, el Dios de Israel: Decid al que os ha enviado a mí:
24 Thus saith the Lord, Beholde, I will bring euill vpon this place, and vpon the inhabitantes thereof, euen all the curses, that are written in the booke which they haue read before the King of Iudah:
Así dice Yahvé: «He aquí que haré venir males sobre este lugar y sus habitantes: todas las maldiciones escritas en el libro que se ha leído delante del rey de Judá.
25 Because they haue forsaken me, and burnt incense vnto other gods, to anger mee with al the workes of their hands, therefore shall my wrath fall vpon this place, and shall not be quenched.
En castigo de haberme ellos dejado y quemado incienso a otros dioses, irritándome con todas las obras de sus manos, mi ira se ha derramado sobre este lugar, y no se apagará.»
26 But to the King of Iudah, who sent you to enquire of the Lord, so shall ye say vnto him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The words which thou hast heard, shall come to passe.
Dad al rey de Judá que os ha enviado a consultar a Yahvé, esta respuesta: Así dice Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, acerca de las palabras que has oído:
27 But because thine heart did melt, and thou didest humble thy selfe before God, when thou heardest his wordes against this place and against the inhabitantes thereof, and humbledst thy selfe before mee and tarest thy clothes, and weptest before mee, I haue also heard it, sayth the Lord.
«Por cuanto se ha enternecido tu corazón y te has humillado delante de Dios, al oír sus palabras contra este lugar y sus habitantes, y porque te has humillado ante Mí, rasgando tus vestidos y llorando en mi presencia, por eso también Yo te he oído, dice Yahvé.
28 Beholde, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt bee put in thy graue in peace, and thine eyes shall not see all the euill, which I will bring vpon this place, and vpon the inhabitants of the same. Thus they brought ye King word againe.
He aquí que te reuniré con tus padres, y serás recogido en paz en tu sepulcro; y tus ojos no verán ninguno de los males que haré venir sobre este lugar y sus moradores.»” Ellos llevaron al rey esta respuesta.
29 Then the King sent and gathered all the Elders of Iudah and Ierusalem.
Entonces el rey hizo reunir a todos los ancianos de Judá y de Jerusalén;
30 And the King went vp into the house of the Lord, and all the men of Iudah, and the inhabitants of Ierusalem, and the Priests and the Leuites, and all the people from the greatest to the smallest, and hee read in their eares all the wordes of the booke of the couenant that was found in the house of the Lord.
y después de subir a la Casa de Yahvé, con todos los hombres de Judá y los habitantes de Jerusalén, los sacerdotes y los levitas, y todo el pueblo desde el mayor hasta el menor, leyó a oídos de ellos todas las palabras del Libro de la Alianza que había sido encontrado en la Casa de Yahvé.
31 And the King stood by his pillar, and made a couenant before the Lord, to walke after the Lord, and to keepe his commandements, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soule, and that he would accomplish the wordes of the couenant written in the same booke.
Y puesto en pie en su estrado hizo el rey alianza en la presencia de Yahvé (prometiendo) que seguirían a Yahvé y guardarían sus mandamientos, sus testimonios y sus preceptos con todo su corazón y con toda su alma, cumpliendo las palabras de la Alianza escritas en el libro.
32 And he caused all that were found in Ierusalem, and Beniamin to stande to it: and the inhabitants of Ierusalem did according to the couenant of God, euen the God of their fathers.
Después hizo entrar en el pacto a cuantos se hallaban en Jerusalén y en Benjamín. Y los habitantes de Jerusalén obraron conforme a la Alianza de Dios, el Dios de sus padres.
33 So Iosiah tooke away al the abominations out of all the countreis that perteined to the children of Israel, and compelled all that were found in Israel, to serue the Lord their God: so all his dayes they turned not backe from the Lord God of their fathers.
Josías extirpó todas las abominaciones de todo el territorio que pertenecía a los hijos de Israel, y obligó a todos los que moraban en Jerusalén a servir a Yahvé su Dios. Y mientras él vivió no se apartaron de Yahvé, el Dios de sus padres.
