2 Chronicles 34
1 Iosiah was eight yeere olde when hee began to reigne, and he reigned in Ierusalem one and thirtie yeere.
Josia oli kahdeksan ajastaikainen tullessansa kuninkaaksi, ja hallitsi yhden vuoden neljättäkymmentä Jerusalemissa,
2 And he did vprightly in the sight of ye Lord, and walked in the wayes of Dauid his father, and bowed neither to the right hand nor to the left.
Ja teki oikein Herran kasvoin edessä, ja vaelsi isänsä Davidin teillä ja ei poikennut oikialle eikä vasemmalle puolelle.
3 And in the eight yeere of his reigne (when he was yet a childe) he began to seeke after the God of Dauid his father: and in the twelft yeere he began to purge Iudah, and Ierusalem from the hie places, and the groues, and the carued images, and molten images:
Mutta kahdeksantena valtakuntansa vuonna, vielä nuorukaisna ollessansa rupesi hän etsimään isänsä Davidin Jumalaa, ja toisena vuonna toistakymmentä rupesi hän puhdistamaan Juudaa ja Jerusalemia korkeuksista ja metsistöistä, ja epäjumalista ja valetuista kuvista.
4 And they brake downe in his sight the altars of Baalim, and hee caused to cut downe the images that were on hie vpon them: he brake also the groues, and the carued images, and the molten images, and stampt them to pouder, and strowed it vpon the graues of them that had sacrificed vnto them.
Ja he kukistivat hänen edessänsä Baalin alttarit, ja hän rikkoi kuvat jotka niiden päällä olivat; hän hakkasi myös metsistöt pois, ja löi epäjumalat ja valetut kuvat murskaksi, ja hajoitti niiden haudoille, jotka niille uhranneet olivat,
5 Also he burnt the bones of the Priests vpon their altars, and purged Iudah and Ierusalem.
Ja poltti pappein luut heidän alttarinsa päällä; ja niin puhdisti hän Juudan ja Jerusalemin;
6 And in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, euen vnto Naphtali, with their maules they brake all round about.
Niin myös Manassen, Ephraimin ja Simeonin kaupungeissa, hamaan Naphtaliin asti, heidän korvessansa ympäristöltä.
7 And when he had destroyed the altars and the groues, and had broken and stamped to pouder the images, and had cut downe all the idoles throughout all the land of Israel, hee returned to Ierusalem.
Ja sitte kuin hän oli kukistanut alttarit, metsistöt ja epäjumalat murskaksi musertanut, ja oli kaikki kuvat koko Israelin maalla maahan hakannut, palasi hän Jerusalemiin.
8 Then in the eightenth yere of his reigne, when hee had purged the lande and the Temple, he sent Shaphan the sonne of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the gouernour of the citie, and Ioah the sonne of Ioahaz the recorder, to repaire the house of the Lord his God.
Mutta valtakuntansa kahdeksantena vuonna toistakymmentä, sittekuin hän maakunnan ja huoneen puhdistanut oli, lähetti hän Saphanin Atsalian pojan, ja Maejesan kaupungin päämiehen, ja Joan Joahaksen pojan, kanslerin, parantamaan Herran Jumalansa huonetta.
9 And when they came to Hilkiah the hie Priest, they deliuered ye money that was brought into the house of God, which the Leuites that kept the doore, had gathered at the hand of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and of all the residue of Israel, and of all Iudah and Beniamin, and of the inhabitantes of Ierusalem.
Niin he tulivat Hilkian ylimmäisen papin tykö ja antoivat hänelle rahan, joka Jumalan huoneesen viety oli, jonka ovenvartiat Leviläiset koonneet olivat Manassesta, Ephraimista, ja kaikilta jääneiltä Israelista ja kaikelta Juudalta ja Benjaminilta, ja Jerusalemin asuvaisilta.
10 And they put it in the hands of them that should doe the worke and had the ouersight in the house of the Lord: and they gaue it to the workemen that wrought in the house of ye Lord, to repaire and amend the house.
Ja niin he antoivat sen Herran huoneen teettäjille; ne taas antoivat niille, jotka Herran huoneessa työtä tekivät huoneen rakentamisessa ja parantamisessa;
11 Euen to the workemen and to the builders gaue they it, to bye hewed stone and timber for couples and for beames of the houses, which the Kings of Iudah had destroyed.
Ne sitte antoivat sen sepille ja rakentajille, ostaa hakatuita kiviä ja puita liitteiksi, kaariksi ja maloiksi huoneisiin, jotka Juudan kuninkaat olivat hävittäneet.
12 And the men did the worke faithfully, and the ouerseers of them were Iahath and Obadiah the Leuites, of the children of Merari, and Zechariah, and Meshullam, of the children of the Kohathites to set it forward: and of the Leuites all that could skill of instruments of musike.
Ja miehet tekivät työtä uskollisesti. Ja heidän ylitsensä asetettiin Jahat ja Obadia Leviläiset Merarin lapsista, Sakaria ja Mesullam Kahatilaisten lapsista, työtä kiiruhtamaan. Ja jokainen Leviläinen taisi soittaa kanteletta.
13 And they were ouer the bearers of burdens, and them that set forwarde all the workemen in euery worke: and of the Leuites were scribes, and officers and porters.
Kantajain ja kaikkinaisen työn teettäjäin päällä kaikissa viroissa olivat Leviläisistä kirjoittajat, esimiehet ja ovenvartiat.
14 And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the Lord, Hilkiah the Priest found the booke of the Lawe of the Lord giuen by the hand of Moses.
Ja kuin he ottivat rahan ulos, joka Herran huoneesen pantu oli, löysi Hilkia Herran lakikirjan, joka Moseksen kautta annettu oli.
15 Therefore Hilkiah answered and sayde to Shaphan the chaceler, I haue found the booke of the Law in the house of the Lord: and Hilkiah gaue the booke to Shaphan.
Ja Hilkia vastasi ja sanoi Saphanille kirjoittajalle: minä löysin lakikirjan Herran huoneesta; ja Hilkia antoi kirjan Saphanille.
16 And Shaphan caried the booke to the King, and brought the King worde againe, saying, All that is committed to the hand of thy seruants, that do they.
Niin Saphan vei kirjan kuninkaalle, ilmoitti kuninkaalle asian ja sanoi: kaikki mitä palvelias käsiin annettu on, sen he tekevät.
17 For they haue gathered the money that was found in the house of the Lord, and haue deliuered it into the handes of the ouerseers, and to the handes of the workemen.
Ja he kokosivat rahan, joka Herran huoneesta löydetty oli, ja antoivat sen teettäjille ja tekijöille.
18 Also Shaphan ye chanceler declared to the King, saying, Hilkiah the Priest hath giuen mee a booke, and Shaphan read it before the King.
Niin Saphan kirjoittaja ilmoitti kuninkaalle, sanoen: pappi Hilkia antoi minulle yhden kirjan; ja Saphan luki siitä kuninkaan edessä.
19 And when the King had heard the wordes of the Lawe, he tare his clothes.
Ja kuin kuningas kuuli lain sanat, repäisi hän vaatteensa.
20 And the King commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the sonne of Shaphan, and Abdon the sonne of Micah, and Shaphan the chanceler, and Asaiah the Kings seruant, saying,
Niin kuningas käski Hilkian ja Ahikamin Saphanin pojan, ja Abdonin Miikan pojan, ja Saphanin kirjoittajan, ja Asajan kuninkaan palvelian ja sanoi:
21 Goe and enquire of the Lord for me, and for the rest in Israel and Iudah, concerning the wordes of this booke that is founde: for great is the wrath of the Lord that is fallen vpon vs, because our fathers haue not kept the worde of the Lord, to doe after all that is written in this booke.
Menkäät ja kysykäät Herralta minun edestäni ja niiden edestä, jotka vielä jääneet ovat Israelissa ja Juudassa, kirjan sanoista, joka löydetty on; sillä Herran viha on hirmuinen, joka meihin on syttynyt, ettei isämme ole pitäneet Herran sanaa ja tehneet niinkuin tässä kirjassa kirjoitettu on.
22 Then Hilkiah and they that the King had appoynted, went to Huldah the Prophetesse ye wife of Shallum, the sonne of Tokhath, the sonne of Hasrah keeper of the wardrobe (and she dwelt in Ierusalem within the colledge) and they communed hereof with her.
Niin Hilkia meni niiden kanssa, jotka kuninkaalta lähetetyt olivat, prophetissan Huldan, Sallumin Takehatin pojan, Hasran pojanpojan, vaatetten kätkiän emännän tykö, joka asui toisella puolella Jerusalemissa, ja puhuivat sitä hänelle.
23 And shee answered them, Thus sayth the Lord God of Israel, Tell yee the man that sent you to me,
Ja hän sanoi heille: näin sanoo Herra Israelin Jumala: sanokaat sille miehelle, joka teidät minun tyköni lähettänyt on:
24 Thus saith the Lord, Beholde, I will bring euill vpon this place, and vpon the inhabitantes thereof, euen all the curses, that are written in the booke which they haue read before the King of Iudah:
Näin sanoo Herra: katso, minä saatan onnettomuuden tämän paikan päälle ja sen asuvaisten päälle, ja kaikki kiroukset, jotka siinä kirjassa kirjoitetut ovat, joka Juudan kuninkaan edessä luettiin;
25 Because they haue forsaken me, and burnt incense vnto other gods, to anger mee with al the workes of their hands, therefore shall my wrath fall vpon this place, and shall not be quenched.
Että he ovat hyljänneet minun ja suitsuttaneet vieraille jumalille, vihoittaaksensa minua kaikilla kättensä töillä, ja minun vihani syttyy tämän paikan päälle ja ei pidä sammutettaman.
26 But to the King of Iudah, who sent you to enquire of the Lord, so shall ye say vnto him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The words which thou hast heard, shall come to passe.
Ja teidän pitää näin sanoman Juudan kuninkaalle, joka teidät lähettänyt on kysymään Herralta: näin sanoo Herra Israelin Jumala: näistä sanoista, jotka sinä kuulit:
27 But because thine heart did melt, and thou didest humble thy selfe before God, when thou heardest his wordes against this place and against the inhabitantes thereof, and humbledst thy selfe before mee and tarest thy clothes, and weptest before mee, I haue also heard it, sayth the Lord.
Että sinun sydämes on pehmentynyt ja sinä olet sinus nöyryyttänyt Jumalan edessä, koskas hänen sanansa kuulit tätä paikkaa vastaan ja sen asuvaisia vastaan, ja olet itses nöyryyttänyt minun edessäni, repinyt vaattees ja itkenyt minun edessäni, niin minä myös olen sinua kuullut, sanoo Herra.
28 Beholde, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt bee put in thy graue in peace, and thine eyes shall not see all the euill, which I will bring vpon this place, and vpon the inhabitants of the same. Thus they brought ye King word againe.
Katso, minä kokoon sinun isäis tykö, ettäs kootaan hautaas rauhassa, ettei sinun silmäs pidä näkemän kaikkea sitä onnettomuutta, jonka minä tämän paikan päälle ja sen asuvaisten päälle saatan. Ja he sanoivat sen kuninkaalle jälleen.
29 Then the King sent and gathered all the Elders of Iudah and Ierusalem.
Niin kuningas lähetti ja kokosi kaikki vanhimmat Juudasta ja Jerusalemista.
30 And the King went vp into the house of the Lord, and all the men of Iudah, and the inhabitants of Ierusalem, and the Priests and the Leuites, and all the people from the greatest to the smallest, and hee read in their eares all the wordes of the booke of the couenant that was found in the house of the Lord.
Ja kuningas meni ylös Herran huoneesen, ja kaikki Juudan miehet ja Jerusalemin asuvaiset, ja papit ja Leviläiset, ja kaikki kansa, sekä suuret että pienet; ja luettiin heidän korvainsa kuullen kaikki liitonkirjan sanat, joka oli löydetty Herran huoneesta.
31 And the King stood by his pillar, and made a couenant before the Lord, to walke after the Lord, and to keepe his commandements, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soule, and that he would accomplish the wordes of the couenant written in the same booke.
Niin kuningas seisoi siallansa ja teki liiton Herran edessä, että heidän piti vaeltaman Herran jälkeen ja pitämän hänen käskynsä, todistuksensa ja säätynsä kaikesta sydämestänsä ja kaikesta sielustansa, ja tekemän kaikkein liiton sanain jälkeen, kuin ovat kirjoitetut tässä kirjassa.
32 And he caused all that were found in Ierusalem, and Beniamin to stande to it: and the inhabitants of Ierusalem did according to the couenant of God, euen the God of their fathers.
Ja hän antoi seisoa kaikki, jotka olivat Jerusalemissa ja Benjaminissa. Ja Jerusalemin asuvaiset tekivät Jumalan, isäinsä Jumalan liiton jälkeen.
33 So Iosiah tooke away al the abominations out of all the countreis that perteined to the children of Israel, and compelled all that were found in Israel, to serue the Lord their God: so all his dayes they turned not backe from the Lord God of their fathers.
Ja Josia otti kaikki kauhistukset pois kaikesta maasta, joka Israelin lasten oma oli, ja vaati kaikkia, jotka Israelista löydettiin, palvelemaan Herraa Jumalaansa; kaikkena hänen elinaikanansa ei he luopuneet Herrasta isäinsä Jumalasta.
