2 Chronicles 31
1 And when all these thinges were finished, all Israel that were found in the cities of Iudah, went out and brake the images, and cut downe the groues, and brake downe the hie places, and the altars thorowout all Iudah and Beniamin, in Ephraim also and Manasseh, vntil they had made an ende: afterwarde all the children of Israel returned euery man to his possession, into their owne cities.
Et, toutes ces choses accomplies, tous les Israélites présents partirent pour les villes de Juda, et ils brisèrent les colonnes, coupèrent les Aschères et détruisirent les tertres et les autels dans tout Juda et Benjamin et dans Éphraïm et Manassé, jusqu'à ruine complète; puis tous les enfants d'Israël retournèrent chacun dans sa propriété, dans leurs villes.
2 And Hezekiah appoynted the courses of the Priests and Leuites by their turnes, euery man according to his office, both Priestes and Leuites, for the burnt offring and peace offrings, to minister and to giue thankes, and to prayse in the gates of the tentes of the Lord.
Et Ézéchias établit les classes des Prêtres et des Lévites, selon leur classification, chacun selon son office, les Prêtres et les Lévites pour les holocaustes et les sacrifices pacifiques, pour le ministère et l'action de grâces et la louange, aux portes du camp de l'Éternel.
3 (And the Kings portion was of his owne substance for the burnt offrings, euen for ye burnt offrings of the morning and of the euening, and the burnt offrings for the Sabbaths, and for the new moones, and for the solemne feastes, as it is written in the Law of the Lord)
Et le roi affecta une portion de son bien aux holocaustes, aux holocaustes du matin et du soir et aux holocaustes des sabbats et des nouvelles lunes et des fêtes prescrites dans la Loi de l'Éternel.
4 He commanded also the people that dwelt in Ierusalem, to giue a part to the Priestes, and Leuites, that they might be encouraged in the Law of the Lord.
Et le roi dit au peuple, aux habitants de Jérusalem, de payer la part des Prêtres et des Lévites pour les mettre à même de s'appliquer à la Loi de l'Éternel.
5 And when the commandement was spread, the children of Israel brought abundance of first fruites, of corne, wine, and oyle, and honie, and of all the increase of the fielde, and the tithes of all things brought they abundantly.
Et à la promulgation de cet édit les enfants d'Israël apportèrent en abondance les prémices du blé, du moût et de l'huile et du miel et de toutes les productions du sol, et ils apportèrent en masse les dîmes de toutes choses.
6 And the children of Israel and Iudah that dwelt in ye cities of Iudah, they also brought the tithes of bullockes and sheepe, and the holy tithes which were consecrate vnto the Lord their God, and laide them on many heapes.
Et les enfants d'Israël et de Juda domiciliés dans les villes de Juda, apportèrent eux aussi la dîme du gros et du menu bétail et la dîme des consécrations qui avaient été consacrées à l'Éternel, leur Dieu, et en firent des tas et des tas.
7 In the thirde moneth they beganne to lay the foundation of the heapes, and finished them in the seuenth moneth.
Au troisième mois ils commencèrent à former des tas, et ils eurent achevé au septième mois.
8 And when Hezekiah and the princes came, and saw the heapes, they blessed the Lord and his people Israel.
Et vinrent Ézéchias et les princes, qui à la vue des tas bénirent l'Éternel et son peuple d'Israël.
9 And Hezekiah questioned with the Priests and the Leuites concerning the heapes.
Et Ézéchias consulta les Prêtres et les Lévites touchant les tas.
10 And Azariah the chiefe Priest of the house of Zadok answered him, and sayde, Since the people beganne to bring the offrings into the house of the Lord, we haue eaten and haue bene satisfied, and there is left in abundance: for the Lord hath blessed his people, and this abundance that is left.
Alors le Grand-Prêtre, Azaria, de la maison de Tsadoc, lui parla et dit: Depuis qu'on a commencé à apporter les dons dans le Temple de l'Éternel, nous avons mangé, et nous avons été rassasiés, et le reliquat est considérable; car l'Éternel a béni son peuple, et le reliquat, c'est le grand tas que voilà.
11 And Hezekiah commanded to prepare chambers in the house of the Lord: and they prepared them,
Et Ézéchias dit de disposer des cellules dans la Maison de l'Éternel. Et ils les disposèrent,
12 And caryed in the first fruites, and the tithes, and the dedicate things faithfully: and ouer them was Conaniah the Leuite, the chiefe, and Shimei his brother the seconde.
et y apportèrent fidèlement les prémices et les dîmes et les consécrations. Et ils eurent pour surintendant Chanania, le Lévite, avec Siméï son frère, comme second.
13 And Iehiel, and Azariah, and Nahath, and Asahel, and Ierimoth, and Iozabad, and Eliel, and Ismachiah, and Mahath, and Benaiah were ouerseers by the appointment of Conaniah, and Shimei his brother, and by the commandement of Hezekiah the King, and of Azariah the chiefe of the house of God.
Et Jehiel et Azazia et Nahath et Asahel et Jerimoth et Jozabad et Eliel et Jismachia et Mahath et Benaïa étaient intendants sous les ordres de Chanania et de Siméï, son frère, d'après l'ordonnance du roi Ezéchias, et d'Azaria, surintendant de la Maison de Dieu.
14 And Kore the sonne of Imnah the Leuite porter towarde the East, was ouer the things that were willingly offred vnto God, to distribute the oblations of the Lord, and the holy things that were consecrate.
Et Coré, fils de Jimna, Lévite, portier de l'orient, avait l'intendance des dons volontaires faits à Dieu, pour délivre la part réservée de l'Éternel, et les très saintes consécrations.
15 And at his hande were Eden, and Miniamin, and Ieshua, and Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shechaniah, in the cities of the Priestes, to distribute with fidelitie to their brethren by courses, both to the great and small,
Et sous ses ordres étaient Eden et Miniamin et Jésua et Semaïa, Amaria et Sechonia dans les villes sacerdotales, laissés sur leur foi pour faire les délivrances à leurs frères selon leurs classes, au grand comme au petit,
16 Their daily portion: beside their generation being males from three yeere olde and aboue, euen to all that entred into the house of the Lord to their office in their charge, according to their courses:
non compris les mâles enregistrés dès l'âge de trois ans et au-dessus, tous ceux qui entraient journellement dans le Temple de l'Éternel pour les fonctions de leur office, dans leurs classes;
17 Both to the generation of the Priestes after the house of their fathers, and to the Leuites from twentie yeere olde and aboue, according to their charge in their courses:
non compris les Prêtres enregistrés par maisons patriarcales, et les Lévites de vingt ans et plus en fonctions dans leurs classes,
18 And to the generation of all their children, their wiues, and their sonnes and their daughters throughout all ye Congregation: for by their fidelitie are they partakers of the holy things.
et tous les leurs enregistrés, enfants, femmes et fils et filles, de toute la corporation, car ils se consacraient fidèlement à leur saint service.
19 Also to the sonnes of Aaron, the Priestes, which were in the fieldes and suburbes of their cities, in euery citie the men that were appointed by names, shoulde giue portions to all the males of the Priestes, and to all the generation of the Leuites.
Et pour les Prêtres, fils d'Aaron, il y avait dans la banlieue de leurs villes, ville par ville, des hommes préposés, désignés par leurs noms, pour délivrer leur part à tous les mâles des Prêtres et à tous les Lévites enregistrés.
20 And thus did Hezekiah throughout al Iudah, and did well, and vprightly, and truely before the Lord his God.
Et ainsi fit Ezéchias dans tout Juda et il agit bien et avec droiture et fidélité devant l'Éternel, son Dieu,
21 And in all the workes that he began for the seruice of the house of God, both in the Law and in the commandements, to seeke his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.
et dans toute l'œuvre qu'il entreprit pour le service de la Maison de Dieu, et pour la Loi et pour le commandement, cherchant son Dieu, il agit de tout son cœur et réussit.
