2 Chronicles 25
1 Amaziah was fiue and twentie yere old when he began to reigne, and he reigned nine and twentie yeere in Ierusalem: and his mothers name was Iehoaddan, of Ierusalem.
Fünfundzwanzig Jahre alt war Amazia, als er König ward, und regierte neunundzwanzig Jahre lang zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Joaddan, von Jerusalem.
2 And he did vprightly in the eyes of the Lord, but not with a perfite heart.
Und er tat, was recht war in den Augen des HERRN, doch nicht von ganzem Herzen.
3 And when the kingdome was established vnto him, he slewe his seruants, that had slaine the King his father.
Als ihm nun das Königreich gesichert war, tötete er seine Knechte, welche seinen königlichen Vater erschlagen hatten.
4 But he slewe not their children, but did as it is written in the Lawe, and in the booke of Moses, where the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not dye for the children, neyther shall the children die for the fathers, but euery man shall dye for his owne sinne.
Aber ihre Söhne tötete er nicht, sondern tat, wie geschrieben steht im Gesetzbuche Moses, da der HERR gebietet und spricht: Die Väter sollen nicht für die Söhne und die Söhne nicht für die Väter sterben, sondern ein jeder soll um seiner eigenen Sünde willen sterben!
5 And Amaziah assembled Iudah, and made them captaines ouer thousandes, and captaines ouer hundreths, according to the houses of their fathers, thorowout all Iudah and Beniamin: and he nombred them from twentie yeere olde and aboue, and founde among them three hundreth thousand chosen men, to goe foorth to the warre, and to handle speare and shield.
Und Amazia brachte Juda zusammen und stellte sie auf nach den Vaterhäusern, nach den Obersten über die Tausendschaften und über die Hundertschaften, von ganz Juda und Benjamin, und musterte sie, von zwanzig Jahren an und darüber, und fand ihrer 300000 Auserlesene, die in den Krieg ziehen und Speer und Schild handhaben konnten.
6 He hyred also an hundreth thousand valiant men out of Israel for an hundreth talents of siluer.
Dazu dingte er aus Israel 100000 starke Kriegsleute um hundert Talente Silber.
7 But a man of God came to him, saying, O King, let not the armie of Israel goe with thee: for the Lord is not with Israel, neither with all the house of Ephraim.
Aber ein Mann Gottes kam zu ihm und sprach: O König, laß das Heer Israels nicht mit dir kommen; denn der HERR ist nicht mit Israel, er ist nicht mit den Kindern Ephraim;
8 If not, goe thou on, doe it, make thy selfe strong to the battel, but God shall make thee fall before the enemie: for God hath power to helpe, and to cast downe.
sondern gehe du hin und mache, daß du selbst stark genug bist zum Kampf! Gott möchte dich sonst zu Fall bringen vor dem Feind; denn bei Gott steht die Kraft, zu helfen und zu stürzen.
9 And Amaziah sayde to the man of God, What shall we doe then for the hundreth talents, which I haue giuen to the hoste of Israel? Then the man of God answered, The Lord is able to giue thee more then this.
Amazia sprach zu dem Manne Gottes: Was wird dann aber aus den hundert Talenten, die ich den israelitischen Truppen gegeben habe? Der Mann Gottes sprach: Der HERR hat dir noch mehr zu geben als nur das!
10 So Amaziah separated them, to wit, the armie that was come to him out of Ephraim, to returne to their place: wherefore their wrath was kindled greatly against Iudah, and they returned to their places with great anger.
Da sonderte Amazia seine Leute ab von den Truppen, die aus Ephraim zu ihm gekommen waren, und ließ sie an ihren Ort hingehen. Da ergrimmte ihr Zorn sehr wider Juda, und sie kehrten in glühendem Zorn wieder heim.
11 Then Amaziah was encouraged, and led forth his people, and went to the salt valley, and smote of the children of Seir, ten thousand.
Amazia aber ermannte sich und führte sein Volk aus und zog in das Salztal und schlug von den Kindern Seir zehntausend [Mann].
12 And other ten thousand did the children of Iudah take aliue, and caryed them to the top of a rocke, and cast them downe from the top of the rocke, and they all burst to pieces.
Und die Kinder Juda fingen ihrer zehntausend lebendig, führten sie auf eine Felsenspitze und stürzten sie von der Felsenspitze hinunter, daß sie alle zerschmettert wurden.
13 But the men of the armie, which Amaziah sent away, that they should not goe with his people to battell, fell vpon the cities of Iudah from Samaria vnto Beth-horon, and smote three thousand of them, and tooke much spoyle.
Aber die Kriegsleute, welche Amazia zurückgeschickt hatte, daß sie nicht mit ihm in den Krieg zögen, fielen in die Städte Judas ein, von Samaria bis gen Beth-Horon, erschlugen daselbst dreitausend [Mann] und machten große Beute.
14 Now after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them vp to be his gods, and worshipped them, and burned incense vnto them.
Als aber Amazia von der Schlacht der Edomiter heimkehrte, brachte er die Götter der Kinder von Seir mit und stellte sie für sich als Götter auf und betete vor ihnen an und räucherte ihnen.
15 Wherefore the Lord was wroth with Amaziah, and sent vnto him a Prophet, which sayd vnto him, Why hast thou sought the gods of the people, which were not able to deliuer their owne people out of thine hand?
Da entbrannte der Zorn des HERRN über Amazia; und er sandte einen Propheten zu ihm, der sprach zu ihm: Warum suchst du die Götter des Volkes, die ihr Volk nicht von deiner Hand errettet haben?
16 And as he talked with him, he said vnto him, Haue they made thee the Kings counseler? cease thou: why should they smite thee? And the Prophet ceased, but said, I knowe that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not obeyed my counsell.
Als dieser aber [so] zu ihm redete, sprach [Amazia] zu ihm: Hat man dich zum Ratgeber des Königs gemacht? Halt inne; warum willst du geschlagen sein? Da hielt der Prophet inne und sprach: Ich merke wohl, daß Gott beschlossen hat, dich zu verderben, weil du solches getan und meinem Rat nicht gehorcht hast!
17 Then Amaziah King of Iudah tooke counsell, and sent to Ioash the sonne of Iehoahaz, the sonne of Iehu King of Israel, saying, Come, let vs see one another in the face.
Und Amazia, der König von Juda, beriet sich und sandte hin zu Joas, dem Sohn des Joahas, des Sohnes Jehus, dem König von Israel, und ließ ihm sagen: Wir wollen einander ins Angesicht sehen!
18 But Ioash King of Israel sent to Amaziah King of Iudah, saying, The thistle that is in Lebanon, sent to the cedar that is in Lebanon, saying, Giue thy daughter to my sonne to wife: and the wilde beast that was in Lebanon went and trode downe the thistle.
Aber Joas, der König von Israel, sandte zu Amazia, dem König von Juda, und ließ ihm sagen: Der Dornstrauch am Libanon sandte zur Zeder am Libanon und ließ ihr sagen: Gib deine Tochter meinem Sohn zum Weibe! Aber das Wild am Libanon lief über den Dornstrauch und zertrat ihn.
19 Thou thinkest: lo, thou hast smitten Edom, and thine heart lifteth thee vp to bragge: abide now at home: why doest thou prouoke to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, and Iudah with thee?
Du aber denkst, du habest die Edomiter geschlagen, und dein Herz verführt dich zum Stolz. Bleibe du jetzt daheim! Warum willst du das Schicksal herausfordern, daß du zu Fall kommst und Juda mit dir?
20 But Amaziah would not heare: for it was of God, that he might deliuer them into his had, because they had sought the gods of Edom.
Aber Amazia gehorchte nicht; denn es war von Gott [so gefügt], um sie in die Hand [der Feinde] zu geben, weil sie die Götter der Edomiter gesucht hatten.
21 So Ioash the King of Israel went vp: and he, and Amaziah King of Iudah saw one another in the face at Bethshemesh, which is in Iudah.
Da zog Joas, der König von Israel, herauf, und sie sahen sich ins Angesicht, er und Amazia, der König von Juda, zu Beth-Semes, das zu Juda gehört.
22 And Iudah was put to the worse before Israel, and they fled euery man to his tents.
Aber Juda ward vor Israel geschlagen, und sie flohen, ein jeder in seine Hütte.
23 But Ioash the King of Israel tooke Amaziah King of Iudah, the sonne of Ioash, the sonne of Iehoahaz in Bethshemesh, and brought him to Ierusalem, and brake downe the wall of Ierusalem, from the gate of Ephraim vnto the corner gate, foure hundreth cubites.
Amazia aber, den König von Juda, den Sohn des Joas, des Sohnes des Joahas, fing Joas, der König von Israel, zu Beth-Semes und brachte ihn gen Jerusalem; und er riß die Mauer von Jerusalem ein, vom Tor Ephraim bis zum Ecktor, auf vierhundert Ellen Länge.
24 And he tooke all the gold and the siluer, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with Obed Edom, and in the treasures of the Kings house, and the children that were in hostage, and returned to Samaria.
Und er nahm alles Gold und Silber und alle Geräte, die im Hause Gottes bei Obed-Edom vorhanden waren, auch die Schätze im Hause des Königs, dazu Geiseln; dann kehrte er nach Samaria zurück.
25 And Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah liued after the death of Ioash sonne of Iehoahaz King of Israel, fifteene yeere.
Aber Amazia, der Sohn des Joas, der König von Juda, lebte nach dem Tode Joas', des Sohnes Joahas', des Königs von Israel, noch fünfzehn Jahre lang.
26 Concerning the rest of the actes of Amaziah first and last, are they not written in the booke of the Kings of Iudah and Israel?
Die übrigen Geschichten Amazias aber, die früheren und die späteren, siehe, sind die nicht aufgezeichnet im Buch der Könige von Juda und Israel?
27 Nowe after the time that Amaziah did turne away from ye Lord, they wrought treason against him in Ierusalem: and when he was fled to Lachish, they sent to Lachish after him, and slewe him there.
Und seit der Zeit, da Amazia von dem HERRN abwich, bestand zu Jerusalem eine Verschwörung gegen ihn. Er aber floh nach Lachis; da sandten sie ihm nach gen Lachis und töteten ihn daselbst.
28 And they brought him vpon horses, and buried him with his fathers in the citie of Iudah.
Man brachte ihn aber auf Pferden und begrub ihn bei seinen Vätern in der Hauptstadt Judas.
