2 Chronicles 22
1 And the inhabitants of Ierusalem made Ahaziah his yongest sonne King in his steade: for the armie that came with the Arabians to the campe, had slayne all the eldest: therefore Ahaziah the sonne of Iehoram King of Iudah reigned.
So tok Jerusalems-buarne Ahazja, den yngste son hans, til konge i staden hans; for dei eldste hadde røvarflokken drepe som hadde kome til lægret saman med arabarane. Soleis vart Ahazja Joramsson konge i Juda.
2 Two and fourtie yeere olde was Ahaziah when he began to reigne, and he reigned one yeere in Ierusalem. and his mothers name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.
Tvo og tjuge år gamall var Ahazja då han vart konge, og eitt år var han konge i Jerusalem. Mor hans heitte Atalja og var dotter åt Omri.
3 He walked also in the wayes of the house of Ahab: for his mother counselled him to doe wickedly.
Han gjekk på vegarne åt Ahabs hus; for mor hans forførde honom til gudløysa med råderne sine.
4 Wherefore he did euill in the sight of the Lord, like the house of Ahab: for they were his counsellers after the death of his father, to his destruction.
Han gjorde det som vondt var i Herrens augo, liksom Ahabs hus; for til hans eige tjon vart dei rådgjevarene hans etter far hans var avliden.
5 And he walked after their counsel, and went with Iehoram the sonne of Ahab King of Israel to fight against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead: and the Aramites smote Ioram.
Etter deira råd for han og i herferd saman med Israels-kongen Joram Ahabsson, imot syrarkongen Hazael ved Ramot i Gilead. Men syrarane særde Joram.
6 And he returned to be healed in Izreel, because of the woundes wherewith they had wounded him at Ramah, when he fought with Hazael King of Aram. Nowe Azariah the sonne of Iehoram King of Iudah went downe to see Iehoram the sonne of Ahab at Izreel, because hee was diseased.
Då snudde han attende og vilde få lækt dei såri i Jizre’el som dei hadde gjeve honom ved Rama, då han stridde med syrarkongen Hazael. Og Azarja, kongen i Juda, son åt Joram, drog ned til Jizre’el og vilde sjå um Joram Ahabsson, av di han var sjuk.
7 And the destruction of Ahaziah came of God in that he went to Ioram: for when he was come, he went forth with Iehoram against Iehu the sonne of Nimshi, whom the Lord had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab.
Men til undergang for Ahazja hadde Gud laga det so, at han skulde koma til Joram, og når han kom, skulde han draga ut med Joram imot Jehu Nimsison, som Herren hadde salva til å øyda ut Ahabs hus.
8 Therefore when Iehu executed iudgement vpon the house of Ahab, and found the princes of Iudah and the sonnes of the brethren of Ahaziah that waited on Ahaziah, he slew them also.
For då Jehu sette i verk domen yver Ahabs hus, då råka han hovdingarne i Juda og brorsønerne åt Ahazja, som gjekk Ahazja til handa, og han drap deim.
9 And he sought Ahaziah, and they caught him where he was hid in Samaria, and brought him to Iehu, and slewe him, and buryed him, because, sayd they, he is the sonne of Iehoshaphat, which sought the Lord with all his heart. So the house of Ahaziah was not able to reteine the kingdome.
So leita han etter Ahazja, og dei greip honom då han gøymde seg i Samaria, og leidde honom til Jehu, som let honom drepa. Like vel gravlagde dei honom; for dei kom i hug at han var son åt Josafat, som heldt seg til Herren med heile sitt hjarta. Men det var ingen att av huset åt Ahazja som var sterk nok til å taka kongedømet.
10 Therefore when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah sawe that her sonne was dead, shee arose and destroyed all the Kings seede of the house of Iudah.
Då Atalja, mor åt Ahazja, fekk vita at son hennar var dåen, tok ho seg fyre å tyna heile kongsætti i Judas hus.
11 But Iehoshabeath the daughter of ye King, tooke Ioash the sonne of Ahaziah, and stale him from among the Kings sonnes, that shoulde be slayne, and put him and his nource in the bed chamber: so Iehoshabeath the daughter of King Iehoram the wife of Iehoiada the Priest (for shee was the sister of Ahaziah) hid him from Athaliah: so she slew him not.
Men Josabat, dotter åt kongen, tok Joas Ahazjason, og fekk honom burt ifrå kongssønerne, som var drepne, og fekk honom og fostermor hans inn i sengkammerset. Soleis gøymde Josabat, dotter åt kong Joram og kona åt presten Jojada - for ho var syster åt Ahazja - honom for Atalja, so ho fekk ikkje drepe honom.
12 And hee was with them hid in the house of God sixe yeeres, whiles Athaliah reigned ouer the land.
So var han hjå deim i Guds hus burtgøymd i seks år, medan Atalja styrde i landet.
