2 Chronicles 22
1 And the inhabitants of Ierusalem made Ahaziah his yongest sonne King in his steade: for the armie that came with the Arabians to the campe, had slayne all the eldest: therefore Ahaziah the sonne of Iehoram King of Iudah reigned.
Gli abitanti di Gerusalemme proclamarono re al suo posto Acazia, il minore dei figli, perché tutti quelli più anziani erano stati uccisi dalla banda che era penetrata con gli Arabi nell'accampamento. Così divenne re Acazia figlio di Ioram, re di Giuda.
2 Two and fourtie yeere olde was Ahaziah when he began to reigne, and he reigned one yeere in Ierusalem. and his mothers name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.
Quando divenne re, Acazia aveva ventidue anni; regnò un anno in Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Atalia ed era figlia di Omri.
3 He walked also in the wayes of the house of Ahab: for his mother counselled him to doe wickedly.
Anch'egli imitò la condotta della casa di Acab, perché sua madre lo consigliava ad agire da empio.
4 Wherefore he did euill in the sight of the Lord, like the house of Ahab: for they were his counsellers after the death of his father, to his destruction.
Fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, come facevano quelli della famiglia di Acab, perché dopo la morte di suo padre costoro, per sua rovina, erano i suoi consiglieri.
5 And he walked after their counsel, and went with Iehoram the sonne of Ahab King of Israel to fight against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead: and the Aramites smote Ioram.
Su consiglio di costoro entrò anche in guerra con Ioram figlio di Acab, re di Israele e contro Cazaèl re di Aram, in Ramot di Gàlaad. Gli Aramei ferirono Ioram,
6 And he returned to be healed in Izreel, because of the woundes wherewith they had wounded him at Ramah, when he fought with Hazael King of Aram. Nowe Azariah the sonne of Iehoram King of Iudah went downe to see Iehoram the sonne of Ahab at Izreel, because hee was diseased.
che tornò a curarsi in Izreèl per le ferite ricevute in Ramot di Gàlaad mentre combatteva con Cazaèl re di Aram. Acazia figlio di Ioram, re di Giuda, scese per visitare Ioram figlio di Acab, in Izreèl perché costui era malato.
7 And the destruction of Ahaziah came of God in that he went to Ioram: for when he was come, he went forth with Iehoram against Iehu the sonne of Nimshi, whom the Lord had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab.
Fu volontà di Dio che Acazia, per sua rovina, andasse da Ioram. Difatti, quando giunse, uscì con Ioram incontro a Ieu figlio di Nimsi, che il Signore aveva consacrato perché distruggesse la casa di Acab.
8 Therefore when Iehu executed iudgement vpon the house of Ahab, and found the princes of Iudah and the sonnes of the brethren of Ahaziah that waited on Ahaziah, he slew them also.
Mentre faceva giustizia della casa di Acab, Ieu trovò i capi di Giuda e i nipoti di Acazia, suoi servi, e li uccise.
9 And he sought Ahaziah, and they caught him where he was hid in Samaria, and brought him to Iehu, and slewe him, and buryed him, because, sayd they, he is the sonne of Iehoshaphat, which sought the Lord with all his heart. So the house of Ahaziah was not able to reteine the kingdome.
Egli fece ricercare Acazia e lo catturarono mentre era nascosto in Samaria; lo condussero da Ieu, che lo uccise. Ma lo seppellirono, perché dicevano: «E' figlio di Giòsafat, che ha ricercato il Signore con tutto il cuore». Nella casa di Acazia nessuno era in grado di regnare.
10 Therefore when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah sawe that her sonne was dead, shee arose and destroyed all the Kings seede of the house of Iudah.
Atalia, madre di Acazia, visto che era morto il figlio, si propose di sterminare tutta la discendenza regale della casa di Giuda.
11 But Iehoshabeath the daughter of ye King, tooke Ioash the sonne of Ahaziah, and stale him from among the Kings sonnes, that shoulde be slayne, and put him and his nource in the bed chamber: so Iehoshabeath the daughter of King Iehoram the wife of Iehoiada the Priest (for shee was the sister of Ahaziah) hid him from Athaliah: so she slew him not.
Ma Iosabeat figlia del re, prese Ioas figlio di Acazia, e lo nascose, togliendolo dal gruppo dei figli del re destinati alla morte. Essa lo introdusse insieme con la nutrice in una camera da letto e così Iosabeat, figlia del re Ioram e moglie del sacerdote Ioiadà - era anche sorella di Acazia - sottrasse Ioas ad Atalia, che perciò non lo mise a morte.
12 And hee was with them hid in the house of God sixe yeeres, whiles Athaliah reigned ouer the land.
Egli rimase nascosto presso di lei nel tempio di Dio per sei anni; intanto Atalia regnava sul paese.
