2 Chronicles 22
1 And the inhabitants of Ierusalem made Ahaziah his yongest sonne King in his steade: for the armie that came with the Arabians to the campe, had slayne all the eldest: therefore Ahaziah the sonne of Iehoram King of Iudah reigned.
Et les habitants de Jérusalem proclamèrent roi à sa place Ochozias, son plus jeune fils, car l'armée de brigands qui était venue de l'Arabie et des bords de la mer, avait tué ses aînés; ainsi, Ochozias, fils de Joram, monta sur le trône de Juda.
2 Two and fourtie yeere olde was Ahaziah when he began to reigne, and he reigned one yeere in Ierusalem. and his mothers name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.
Il avait alors vingt ans, et il régna un an à Jérusalem; le nom de sa mère était Athalie; elle était issue d'Ambri.
3 He walked also in the wayes of the house of Ahab: for his mother counselled him to doe wickedly.
Et il marcha dans les voies de la maison d'Achab, parce que sa mère par ses conseils l'entraînait à pécher.
4 Wherefore he did euill in the sight of the Lord, like the house of Ahab: for they were his counsellers after the death of his father, to his destruction.
Et il fit le mal devant le Seigneur comme la maison d'Achab, car d'elle seule il prit conseil après la mort de son père, et il se perdit.
5 And he walked after their counsel, and went with Iehoram the sonne of Ahab King of Israel to fight against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead: and the Aramites smote Ioram.
Marchant donc selon ses conseils, il se joignit à Joram, fils d'Achab, roi d'Israël, pour livrer bataille, à Ramoth-Galaad, au roi de Syrie Azaël, quand des archers atteignirent Joram.
6 And he returned to be healed in Izreel, because of the woundes wherewith they had wounded him at Ramah, when he fought with Hazael King of Aram. Nowe Azariah the sonne of Iehoram King of Iudah went downe to see Iehoram the sonne of Ahab at Izreel, because hee was diseased.
Et Joram revint à Jezraël pour se guérir des blessures que les Syriens lui avaient faites en Ramoth-Galaad, lorsqu'il combattait Azaël, roi de Syrie. Et Ochozias, fils de Joram, roi de Juda, alla voir, en Jezraël, Joram, roi d'Israël, parce qu'il était malade.
7 And the destruction of Ahaziah came of God in that he went to Ioram: for when he was come, he went forth with Iehoram against Iehu the sonne of Nimshi, whom the Lord had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab.
Et une catastrophe venant de Dieu arriva à Ochozias lorsqu'il y fut; car, alors Joram sortit avec lui contre Jéhu, fils de Namesseï, l'oint du Seigneur, suscité contre la maison d'Achab.
8 Therefore when Iehu executed iudgement vpon the house of Ahab, and found the princes of Iudah and the sonnes of the brethren of Ahaziah that waited on Ahaziah, he slew them also.
Et au moment où Jéhu tirait vengeance de la maison d'Achab, il trouva là les princes de Juda, et les frères d'Ochozias employés à le servir, et il les tua.
9 And he sought Ahaziah, and they caught him where he was hid in Samaria, and brought him to Iehu, and slewe him, and buryed him, because, sayd they, he is the sonne of Iehoshaphat, which sought the Lord with all his heart. So the house of Ahaziah was not able to reteine the kingdome.
Ensuite, il ordonna de chercher Ochozias; on le prit en Samarie soignant ses blessures, on le conduisit à Jéhu qui le mit à mort, et on l'inhuma; car, dirent ces gens, il est issu de Josaphat qui de tout son cœur a cherché Dieu; il n'y avait plus personne de la maison d'Ochozias pour fortifier le pouvoir en son royaume.
10 Therefore when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah sawe that her sonne was dead, shee arose and destroyed all the Kings seede of the house of Iudah.
Et Athalie, mère d'Ochozias, voyant son fils mort, se leva et détruisit toute la race royale en Juda.
11 But Iehoshabeath the daughter of ye King, tooke Ioash the sonne of Ahaziah, and stale him from among the Kings sonnes, that shoulde be slayne, and put him and his nource in the bed chamber: so Iehoshabeath the daughter of King Iehoram the wife of Iehoiada the Priest (for shee was the sister of Ahaziah) hid him from Athaliah: so she slew him not.
Mais Josabeth, fille du roi Joram, enleva Joas, fils d'Ochozias; elle le déroba du milieu des fils du roi que l'on massacrait; et elle le mit, avec sa nourrice, dans une alcôve des chambres à coucher. Puis, Josabeth, fille de Joram, sœur d'Ochozias, femme de Joad le prêtre, le cacha d'Athalie, qui ne le tua pas.
12 And hee was with them hid in the house of God sixe yeeres, whiles Athaliah reigned ouer the land.
Il resta six ans avec Joad caché dans le temple de Dieu, pendant qu'Athalie régnait sur la terre.
