2 Chronicles 21
1 Iehosphaphat then slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the citie of Dauid: and Iehoram his sonne reigned in his steade.
Et Josaphat reposa à côté de ses pères et reçut la sépulture auprès de ses pères dans la Cité de David, et Joram, son fils, devint roi en sa place.
2 And he had brethren the sonnes of Iehoshaphat, Azariah, and Iehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah. All these were the sonnes of Iehoshaphat King of Israel.
Et Joram avait des frères, fils de Josaphat: Azaria et Jehiel, et Zacharie et Azarie et Michaël et Sephatia, tout autant de fils de Josaphat, roi d'Israël.
3 And their father gaue them great giftes of siluer and of golde, and of precious things, with strong cities in Iudah, but the kingdome gaue he to Iehoram: for he was the eldest.
Et leur père leur avait fait des dotations considérables en argent et en or et en objets de prix, et en même temps en villes fortes de Juda; mais il donna la royauté à Joram, parce que celui-ci était le premier-né.
4 And Iehoram rose vp vpon the kingdom of his father, and made himselfe strong, and slew all his brethren with the sworde, and also of the princes of Israel.
Joram fut donc élevé à la souveraineté de son père; et lorsqu'il se fut affermi, il fit périr tous ses frères par l'épée et quelques-uns aussi des Chefs d'Israël.
5 Iehoram was two and thirtie yeere olde, when he began to reigne, and he reigned eyght yeere in Ierusalem.
Joram avait trente-deux ans à son avènement, et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem.
6 And he walked in the way of the Kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife, and he wrought euill in the eyes of the Lord.
Et il marcha sur les errements des rois d'Israël, suivant l'exemple donné par la maison d'Achab; car il avait pour femme une fille d'Achab; et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel.
7 Howbeit the Lord would not destroy the house of Dauid, because of the couenant that he had made with Dauid, and because he had promised to giue a light to him, and to his sonnes for euer.
Cependant l'Éternel ne voulut pas ruiner la maison de David, et cela en considération de l'alliance qu'il avait accordée à David et de la promesse qu'il lui avait faite de laisser luire dans tous les temps un flambeau pour lui et ses fils.
8 In his dayes Edom rebelled from vnder the hand of Iudah, and made a King ouer them.
Au temps de Joram, Édom se rebella contre la domination de Juda, et ils établirent un roi au-dessus d'eux.
9 And Iehoram went forth with his princes, and all his charets with him: and hee rose vp by night, and smote Edom, which had compassed him in, and the captaines of the charets.
Alors Joram passa la frontière avec ses généraux, et ayant tous les chars avec lui; et il se leva pendant la nuit et battit les Édomites qui l'avaient cerné, et les commandants des chars.
10 But Edom rebelled from vnder the hande of Iudah vnto this day. then did Libnah rebell at the same time from vnder his hand, because he had forsaken the Lord God of his fathers.
Néanmoins Édom [réussit à] se soustraire à la domination de Juda jusqu'aujourd'hui. Alors, dans le même temps Libna se rebella contre sa domination, parce qu'il avait abandonné l'Éternel, Dieu de ses pères.
11 Moreouer hee made hie places in the mountaines of Iudah, and caused the inhabitants of Ierusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Iudah thereto.
Lui aussi éleva des tertres dans les montagnes de Juda et débaucha les habitants de Jérusalem, et fut le séducteur de Juda.
12 And there came a writing to him from Elijah the Prophet, saying, Thus sayth the Lord God of Dauid thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the wayes of Iehoshaphat thy father, nor in the wayes of Asa King of Iudah,
Et il lui vint une lettre d'Élie, le prophète, portant: Ainsi parle l'Éternel, Dieu de David, ton père: Puisque tu n'as pas marché sur les errements de Josaphat, ton père, et sur les errements d'Asa, roi de Juda,
13 But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Iudah and the inhabitantes of Ierusalem to go a whoring, as the house of Ahab went a whoring, and hast also slaine thy brethre of thy fathers house, which were better then thou,
mais que tu as marché sur les errements des rois d'Israël, et débauché Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem, comme débauche la maison d'Achab, et que tu as aussi fait périr tes frères, maison de ton père, meilleure que toi;
14 Beholde, with a great plague will the Lord smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wiues, and all thy substance,
voici, l'Éternel frappera d'une grande plaie ton peuple et tes fils et tes femmes et toute ta fortune,
15 And thou shalt be in great diseases in the disease of thy bowels, vntill thy bowels fall out for the disease, day by day.
et tu souffriras, d'époque en époque, de grandes douleurs par l'effet d'une maladie de tes entrailles qui finiront par sortir ensuite de la maladie.
16 So the Lord stirred vp against Iehoram the spirite of the Philistims, and the Arabians that were beside the Ethiopians.
En conséquence l'Éternel éveilla contre Joram l'animosité des Philistins et des Arabes confinant aux Éthiopiens.
17 And they came vp into Iudah, and brake into it, and caryed away all the substance that was found in the Kings house, and his sonnes also, and his wiues, so that there was not a sonne left him, saue Iehoahaz, the yongest of his sonnes.
Et ils s'avancèrent contre Juda, et ils y ouvrirent la brèche, et ils emportèrent toute la propriété qui se trouvait dans le palais du roi, et aussi ses fils et ses femmes, de sorte qu'il ne lui resta de fils que Joachaz, le cadet de ses fils.
18 And after all this, the Lord smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.
Et après tout cela l'Éternel le frappa aux entrailles d'une maladie incurable;
19 And in processe of time, euen after the end of two yeeres, his guttes fell out with his disease: so he dyed of sore diseases: and his people made no burning for him like the burning of his fathers.
et elle suivit ses époques, et au bout de deux périodes ses entrailles sortirent, dans sa maladie; et il mourut dans des douleurs poignantes; et son peuple ne fit pas pour lui une combustion pareille à la combustion de ses pères.
20 When he began to reigne, he was two and thirtie yeere olde, and reigned in Ierusalem eight yeere, and liued without being desired: yet they buryed him in the citie of Dauid, but not among the sepulchres of the Kings.
Il avait trente-deux ans à son avènement et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem. Et il s'en alla sans être regretté; et on lui donna la sépulture dans la Cité de David, mais non dans les tombeaux des rois.
