2 Chronicles 21
1 Iehosphaphat then slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the citie of Dauid: and Iehoram his sonne reigned in his steade.
Josaphat se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David; Joram, son fils, régna à sa place.
2 And he had brethren the sonnes of Iehoshaphat, Azariah, and Iehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah. All these were the sonnes of Iehoshaphat King of Israel.
Joram avait des frères, fils de Josaphat: Azarias, Jahiel, Zacharias, Azarias, Michaël et Saphatias; ils étaient tous fils de Josaphat, roi de Juda.
3 And their father gaue them great giftes of siluer and of golde, and of precious things, with strong cities in Iudah, but the kingdome gaue he to Iehoram: for he was the eldest.
Leur père leur avait donné des présents considérables en or et en argent, et en objets de prix, avec des villes fortes en Juda; mais il laissa le royaume à Joram, parce qu’il était le premier-né.
4 And Iehoram rose vp vpon the kingdom of his father, and made himselfe strong, and slew all his brethren with the sworde, and also of the princes of Israel.
Joram s’établit sur le royaume de son père et, lorsqu’il se fut affermi, il fit mourir par l’épée tous ses frères, et aussi quelques-uns des chefs d’Israël.
5 Iehoram was two and thirtie yeere olde, when he began to reigne, and he reigned eyght yeere in Ierusalem.
Joram avait trente-deux ans lorsqu’il devint roi, et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem.
6 And he walked in the way of the Kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife, and he wrought euill in the eyes of the Lord.
Il marcha dans la voie des rois d’Israël, comme avait fait la maison d’Achab, car il avait pour femme une fille d’Achab, et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh.
7 Howbeit the Lord would not destroy the house of Dauid, because of the couenant that he had made with Dauid, and because he had promised to giue a light to him, and to his sonnes for euer.
Mais Yahweh ne voulut pas détruire la maison de David, à cause de l’alliance qu’il avait contractée avec David, et parce qu’il lui avait dit qu’il lui donnerait toujours une lampe, à lui et à ses fils.
8 In his dayes Edom rebelled from vnder the hand of Iudah, and made a King ouer them.
De son temps, Édom se révolta contre la domination de Juda et se donna un roi.
9 And Iehoram went forth with his princes, and all his charets with him: and hee rose vp by night, and smote Edom, which had compassed him in, and the captaines of the charets.
Joram se mit en marche avec ses chefs et tous ses chars; s’étant levé de nuit, il battit les Édomites qui l’entouraient et les chefs des chars.
10 But Edom rebelled from vnder the hande of Iudah vnto this day. then did Libnah rebell at the same time from vnder his hand, because he had forsaken the Lord God of his fathers.
Edom s’affranchit de la domination de Juda, jusqu’à ce jour. Lobna s’affranchit aussi dans le même temps de sa domination, parce qu’il avait abandonné Yahweh, le Dieu de ses pères.
11 Moreouer hee made hie places in the mountaines of Iudah, and caused the inhabitants of Ierusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Iudah thereto.
Joram fit même des hauts lieux dans les montagnes de Juda; il poussa à la prostitution les habitants de Jérusalem, et il séduisit Juda.
12 And there came a writing to him from Elijah the Prophet, saying, Thus sayth the Lord God of Dauid thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the wayes of Iehoshaphat thy father, nor in the wayes of Asa King of Iudah,
Il lui vint un écrit de la part du prophète Élie, disant: « Ainsi dit Yahweh, le Dieu de David, ton père: Parce que tu n’as pas marché dans les voies de Josaphat, ton père, et dans les voies d’Asa, roi de Juda,
13 But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Iudah and the inhabitantes of Ierusalem to go a whoring, as the house of Ahab went a whoring, and hast also slaine thy brethre of thy fathers house, which were better then thou,
mais que tu as marché dans la voie des rois d’Israël; parce que tu as poussé à la prostitution Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem, comme la maison d’Achab poussait Israël à la prostitution, et parce que tu as fait mourir tes frères, meilleurs que toi, la maison même de ton père:
14 Beholde, with a great plague will the Lord smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wiues, and all thy substance,
voici que Yahweh frappera d’une grande plaie ton peuple, tes fils, tes femmes et tout ce qui t’appartient;
15 And thou shalt be in great diseases in the disease of thy bowels, vntill thy bowels fall out for the disease, day by day.
et toi, tu seras frappé de graves maladies, d’une maladie d’entrailles, telle que tes entrailles sortiront par la violence du mal, pendant de nombreux jours ».
16 So the Lord stirred vp against Iehoram the spirite of the Philistims, and the Arabians that were beside the Ethiopians.
Et Yahweh excita contre Joram l’esprit des Philistins et des Arabes voisins des Ethiopiens.
17 And they came vp into Iudah, and brake into it, and caryed away all the substance that was found in the Kings house, and his sonnes also, and his wiues, so that there was not a sonne left him, saue Iehoahaz, the yongest of his sonnes.
Etant montés en Juda, ils s’y répandirent, pillèrent toutes les richesses qui se trouvaient dans la maison du roi, et emmenèrent aussi ses fils et ses femmes, de sorte qu’ il ne lui resta plus d’autre fils que Joachaz, le plus jeune de ses fils.
18 And after all this, the Lord smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.
Après tout cela, Yahweh le frappa dans ses entrailles d’une maladie sans remède.
19 And in processe of time, euen after the end of two yeeres, his guttes fell out with his disease: so he dyed of sore diseases: and his people made no burning for him like the burning of his fathers.
Les jours s’écoulant, sur la fin de la seconde année, les entrailles de Joram sortirent par la violence de son mal. Il mourut dans de grandes souffrances, et son peuple ne brûla pas de parfums en son honneur, comme il en avait brûlé pour ses pères.
20 When he began to reigne, he was two and thirtie yeere olde, and reigned in Ierusalem eight yeere, and liued without being desired: yet they buryed him in the citie of Dauid, but not among the sepulchres of the Kings.
Joram avait trente-deux ans lorsqu’il devint roi, et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem. Il s’en alla sans être regretté, et on l’enterra dans la ville de David, mais non dans les sépulcres des rois.
