2 Chronicles 19
1 And Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah returned safe to his house in Ierusalem.
Josaphat aber, der König von Juda, kehrte wohlbehalten nach Hause, nach Jerusalem, zurück.
2 And Iehu the sonne of Hanani the Seer went out to meete him, and said to King Iehoshaphat, Wouldest thou helpe the wicked, and loue them that hate the Lord? therefore for this thing the wrath of the Lord is vpon thee.
Da trat Jehu, der Sohn Hananis, der Seher, vor ihn und sprach zum Könige Josaphat: Mußtest du dem Gottlosen helfen und liebst du die, die Jahwe hassen? Darum lastet nun auf dir grimmiger Zorn von seiten Jahwes!
3 Neuertheles good things are found in thee, because thou hast taken away ye groues out of the land, and hast prepared thine heart to seeke God.
Doch ward wenigstens noch etwas Gutes an dir erfunden: denn du hast die Ascheren aus dem Lande ausgerottet und deinen Sinn darauf gerichtet, Gott zu suchen!
4 So Iehoshaphat dwelt at Ierusalem, and returned and went through the people from Beer-sheba to mount Ephraim, and brought them againe vnto the Lord God of their fathers.
Josaphat aber blieb einige Zeit zu Jerusalem. Sodann zog er wieder unter dem Volk umher von Beerseba bis zum Gebirge Ephraim und bekehrte sie zu Jahwe, dem Gott ihrer Väter.
5 And hee set iudges in the lande throughout all the strong cities of Iudah, citie by citie,
Auch bestellte er Richter im Lande, in allen festen Städten Judas, Stadt für Stadt.
6 And said to the iudges, Take heede what ye doe: for yee execute not the iudgements of man, but of the Lord, and he will be with you in the cause and iudgement.
Und er sprach zu den Richtern: Seht wohl zu, was ihr thut! Denn ihr richtet nicht im Auftrage von Menschen, sondern Jahwes, und er hilft euch beim Rechtsprechen.
7 Wherefore nowe let the feare of the Lord be vpon you: take heede, and do it: for there is no iniquitie with the Lord our God, neither respect of persons, nor receiuing of reward.
So möge nun die Furcht vor Jahwe auf euch ruhn! Habt bei eurem Thun wohl acht - denn bei Jahwe, unserem Gott, giebt es kein Unrecht, noch Parteilichkeit, noch Annehmen von Bestechung!
8 Moreouer in Ierusalem did Iehoshaphat set of the Leuites, and of the Priests and of the chiefe of the families of Israel, for the iudgement and cause of the Lord: and they returned to Ierusale.
Aber auch zu Jerusalem bestellte Josaphat welche von den Leviten und den Priestern und den Familienhäuptern Israels für die Angelegenheiten Jahwes und die Rechtshändel der Bewohner Jerusalems.
9 And he charged them, saying, Thus shall yee doe in the feare of the Lord faithfully and with a perfite heart.
Und er gab ihnen folgende Anweisung: Also sollt ihr verfahren, in der Furcht Jahwes, in Treue und aufrichtiger Gesinnung.
10 And in euery cause that shall come to you of your brethren that dwel in their cities, betweene blood and blood, betweene law and precept, statutes and iudgements, ye shall iudge them, and admonish them that they trespasse not against the Lord, that wrath come not vpon you and vpon your brethren. This shall ye do and trespasse not.
In jedem Rechtshandel aber, der von seiten eurer Brüder, die in ihren Städten wohnen, vor euch gebracht wird, er betreffe nun einen Mord oder irgend ein Gesetz und Gebot oder irgendwelche Satzungen und Rechte, sollt ihr sie belehren, damit sie sich nicht gegen Jahwe verschulden, und nicht ein grimmiger Zorn über euch und eure Brüder komme. Also sollt ihr verfahren, damit ihr euch nicht verschuldet!
11 And behold, Amariah the Priest shalbe the chiefe ouer you in all matters of the Lord, and Zebadiah ye sonne of Ishmael, a ruler of the house of Iudah, shalbe for al the Kings affaires, and the Leuites shalbe officers before you. Bee of courage, and doe it, and the Lord shalbe with the good.
Der Oberpriester Amarja aber soll in allen Angelegenheiten Jahwes, und Sebadja, der Sohn Ismaels, der Fürste des Hauses Juda, in allen weltlichen Angelegenheiten euer Vorstand sein. Als Beamte aber stehen euch die Leviten zur Verfügung. Geht mutig ans Werk, Jahwe wird mit den Wackeren sein!
