2 Chronicles 19
1 And Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah returned safe to his house in Ierusalem.
Mais Josaphat, roi de Juda, retourna paisiblement en sa maison à Jérusalem.
2 And Iehu the sonne of Hanani the Seer went out to meete him, and said to King Iehoshaphat, Wouldest thou helpe the wicked, and loue them that hate the Lord? therefore for this thing the wrath of the Lord is vpon thee.
Jéhu, le Voyant, fils d’Hanani, vint à sa rencontre, et lui dit: Vous donnez du secours à l’impie, et vous vous liez d’amitié avec ceux qui haïssent le Seigneur; et c’est pour cela certainement que vous méritiez la colère de Dieu.
3 Neuertheles good things are found in thee, because thou hast taken away ye groues out of the land, and hast prepared thine heart to seeke God.
Mais de bonnes œuvres ont été trouvées en vous, parce que vous avez enlevé les bois sacrés de la terre de Juda, et que vous avez préparé votre cœur pour chercher le Seigneur Dieu de vos pères.
4 So Iehoshaphat dwelt at Ierusalem, and returned and went through the people from Beer-sheba to mount Ephraim, and brought them againe vnto the Lord God of their fathers.
Josaphat habita donc à Jérusalem, et il sortit de nouveau vers le peuple, depuis Bersabée jusqu’à la montagne d’Ephraïm, et il les rappela au culte du Seigneur, le Dieu de leurs pères.
5 And hee set iudges in the lande throughout all the strong cities of Iudah, citie by citie,
Et il établit des juges pour le pays dans toutes les villes de Juda fortifiées, pour chaque lieu en particulier.
6 And said to the iudges, Take heede what ye doe: for yee execute not the iudgements of man, but of the Lord, and he will be with you in the cause and iudgement.
Et il ordonna aux juges: Prenez garde, dit-il, à tout ce que vous ferez; car ce n’est pas la justice d’un homme que vous exercez, mais celle du Seigneur, et tout ce que vous aurez jugé retombera sur vous.
7 Wherefore nowe let the feare of the Lord be vpon you: take heede, and do it: for there is no iniquitie with the Lord our God, neither respect of persons, nor receiuing of reward.
Que la crainte du Seigneur soit avec vous, et faites tout avec soin; car il n’y a dans le Seigneur notre Dieu, ni iniquité, ni acception de personnes, ni désir de présents.
8 Moreouer in Ierusalem did Iehoshaphat set of the Leuites, and of the Priests and of the chiefe of the families of Israel, for the iudgement and cause of the Lord: and they returned to Ierusale.
Josaphat établit aussi dans Jérusalem des Lévites, des prêtres, et des princes des familles d’Israël, afin de juger le jugement et la cause du Seigneur pour ses habitants.
9 And he charged them, saying, Thus shall yee doe in the feare of the Lord faithfully and with a perfite heart.
Et il leur ordonna, disant: C’est ainsi que vous agirez dans la crainte du Seigneur, fidèlement et avec un cœur parfait.
10 And in euery cause that shall come to you of your brethren that dwel in their cities, betweene blood and blood, betweene law and precept, statutes and iudgements, ye shall iudge them, and admonish them that they trespasse not against the Lord, that wrath come not vpon you and vpon your brethren. This shall ye do and trespasse not.
Quant à toute cause (qui vous viendra) de vos frères qui habitent dans leurs villes, entre parenté et parenté, partout où il sera question de loi, de commandement, de cérémonies, d’ordonnances, faites-la leur connaître, afin qu’ils ne pèchent point contre le Seigneur, et que sa colère ne vienne point sur vous et sur vos frères; agissant donc ainsi, vous ne pécherez point.
11 And behold, Amariah the Priest shalbe the chiefe ouer you in all matters of the Lord, and Zebadiah ye sonne of Ishmael, a ruler of the house of Iudah, shalbe for al the Kings affaires, and the Leuites shalbe officers before you. Bee of courage, and doe it, and the Lord shalbe with the good.
Or Amarias, le prêtre, votre pontife, présidera dans les choses qui regardent Dieu, et Zabadias, fils d’Ismael, chef dans la maison de Juda, sera préposé sur les ouvrages qui appartiennent au service du roi. Vous avez aussi pour maîtres les Lévites devant vous; fortifiez-vous et agissez avec soin, et le Seigneur sera avec vous, vous comblant de biens.
