2 Chronicles 18

1 And Iehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, but he was ioyned in affinitie with Ahab.

Tinha pois Josaphat riquezas e glória em abundância: e aparentou-se com Achab.

2 And after certaine yeeres he went downe to Ahab to Samaria: and Ahab slew sheepe and oxen for him in great nomber, and for the people that he had with him, and entised him to goe vp vnto Ramoth Gilead.

E ao cabo de alguns anos desceu ele para Achab a Samaria; e Achab matou ovelhas e bois em abundância, para ele e para o povo que vinha com ele: e o persuadiu a subir com ele a Ramoth-gilead.

3 And Ahab King of Israel saide vnto Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, Wilt thou goe with mee to Ramoth Gilead? And hee answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people, and wee will ioyne with thee in the warre.

Porque Achab, rei de Israel, disse a Josaphat rei de Judá: Irás tu comigo a Ramoth-gilead? e ele lhe disse: Como tu és, serei eu; e o meu povo, como o teu povo; seremos contigo nesta guerra.

4 And Iehoshaphat sayde vnto the King of Israel, Aske counsel, I pray thee, at the worde of the Lord this day.

Disse mais Josaphat ao rei de Israel: Consulta hoje, peço-te, a palavra do Senhor.

5 Therefore the King of Israel gathered of Prophets foure hundreth men, and sayde vnto them, Shall we goe to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I cease? And they sayd, Go vp: for God shall deliuer it into the Kings hand.

Então o rei de Israel ajuntou os profetas, quatrocentos homens, e disse-lhes: Iremos à guerra contra Ramoth-gilead, ou deixa-lo-ei? E eles disseram: Sobe; porque Deus a dará na mão do rei

6 But Iehoshaphat sayde, Is there heere neuer a Prophet more of the Lord that wee might inquire of him?

Disse porém Josaphat: Não há ainda aqui profeta algum do Senhor, para que o consultemos?

7 And the King of Israel sayd vnto Iehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whome wee may aske counsell of the Lord, but I hate him: for he doeth not prophesie good vnto me, but alway euil: it is Michaiah the sonne of Imla. Then Iehoshaphat said, Let not the King say so.

Então o rei de Israel disse a Josaphat: Ainda há um homem por quem podemos consultar ao Senhor; porém eu o aborreço; porque nunca profetiza de mim bem, senão sempre mal; este é Micha, filho de Imla. E disse Josaphat: Não fale o rei assim

8 And the King of Israel called an eunuche, and said, Call quickly Michaiah the sonne of Imla.

Então chamou o rei de Israel um eunuco, e disse: Traze aqui depressa a Micha filho de Imla.

9 And the King of Israel, and Iehoshaphat King of Iudah sate either of them on his throne clothed in their apparel: they sate euen in the threshing floore at the entring in of the gate of Samaria: and all the Prophets prophesied before them.

E o rei de Israel, e Josaphat rei de Judá estavam assentados cada um no seu trono, vestidos de vestiduras, e estavam assentados na praça à entrada da porta de Samaria, e todos os profetas profetizavam na sua presença.

10 And Zidkiah ye sonne of Chenaanah made him hornes of yron, and sayde, Thus sayth the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Aramites vntill thou hast consumed them.

E Zedekias, filho de Canana, fez para si uns cornos de ferro, e disse: Assim diz o Senhor: Com estes escornearás aos siros, até de todo os consumires.

11 And all the Prophets prophesied so, saying, Go vp to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliuer it into the hand of the King.

E todos os profetas profetizavam o mesmo, dizendo: Sobe a Ramoth-gilead, e prosperarás; porque o Senhor a dará na mão do rei.

12 And the messenger that went to call Michaiah, spake to him, saying, Beholde, the wordes of the Prophets declare good to the King with one accord: let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speake thou good.

E o mensageiro, que foi chamar a Micha, lhe falou, dizendo: eis que as palavras dos profetas, a uma boca, são boas para com o rei: seja pois também a tua palavra como a dum deles, e fala o que é bom.

13 And Michaiah saide, As the Lord liueth, whatsoeuer my God saith, that will I speake.

Porém Micha disse: Vive o Senhor, que o que meu Deus me disser, isso falarei.

14 So he came to the King, and the King said vnto him, Michaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I leaue off? And he said, Goe yee vp, and prosper, and they shalbe deliuered into your hand.

Vindo pois ao rei, o rei lhe disse: Micha, iremos a Ramoth-gilead à guerra, ou deixa-lo-ei? E ele disse: Subi, e prosperareis; e serão dados na vossa mão.

15 And the King sayd to him, Howe oft shall I charge thee, that thou tell mee nothing but the trueth in the Name of the Lord?

E o rei lhe disse: Até quantas vezes te conjurarei, para que me não fales senão a verdade no nome do Senhor?

16 Then he said, I saw al Israel scattered in the mountaines, as sheepe that haue no shepheard: and the Lord sayd, These haue no Master: let them returne euery man to his house in peace.

Então disse ele: Vi a todo o Israel disperso pelos montes, como ovelhas que não tem pastor: e disse o Senhor: Estes não tem senhor; torne cada um em paz para sua casa.

17 And the King of Israel sayde to Iehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee, that he would not prophesie good vnto me, but euill?

Então o rei de Israel disse a Josaphat: Não te disse eu, que este não profetizaria de mim bem, porém mal

18 Againe hee saide, Therefore heare ye the worde of the Lord: I sawe the Lord sit vpon his throne, and all the hoste of heauen standing at his right hand, and at his left.

Disse mais: Pois ouvi a palavra do Senhor: Vi ao Senhor assentado no seu trono, e a todo o exército celestial em pé à sua mão direita, e à sua esquerda.

19 And the Lord sayd, Who shall perswade Ahab King of Israel, that he may go vp, and fall at Ramoth Gilead? And one spake and said thus, and another said that.

E disse o Senhor: Quem persuadirá a Achab rei de Israel, a que suba, e caia em Ramoth-gilead? disse mais: Um diz desta maneira, e outro diz doutra.

20 Then there came forth a spirit and stoode before the Lord, and said, I will perswade him. And the Lord said vnto him, Wherein?

Então saiu um espírito e se apresentou diante do Senhor, e disse: Eu o persuadirei. E o Senhor lhe disse: Com que?

21 And he saide, I will goe out, and bee a false spirit in the mouth of all his Prophets. And hee said, Thou shalt perswade, and shalt also preuaile: goe forth and do so.

E ele disse: Eu sairei, e serei um espírito de mentira na boca de todos os seus profetas. E disse o Senhor: Tu o persuadirás, e também prevalecerás; sai, e faze-o assim.

22 Now therefore behold, the Lord hath put a false spirit in the mouth of these thy Prophets, and the Lord hath determined euill against thee.

Agora pois, eis que o Senhor enviou um espírito de mentira na boca destes teus profetas: e o Senhor falou o mal a teu respeito.

23 Then Zidkiah the sonne of Chenaanah came neere, and smote Michaiah vpon the cheeke, and sayde, By what way went the Spirit of the Lord from me, to speake with thee?

Então Zedekias, filho de Canana, se chegou, e feriu a Micha no queixo; e disse: Porque caminho passou de mim o espírito do Senhor para falar a ti?

24 And Michaiah saide, Behold, thou shalt see that day when thou shalt goe from chamber to chamber to hide thee.

E disse Micha: Eis que o verás naquele dia, quando andares de câmara em câmara, para te esconderes.

25 And the King of Israel sayde, Take ye Michaiah, and cary him to Amon the gouernour of the citie, and to Ioash the Kings sonne,

Então disse o rei de Israel; tomai a Micha, e tornai a leva-lo a Amon, o governador da cidade, e a Joás filho do rei.

26 And say, Thus saith the King, Put this man in the prison house, and feede him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction vntil I returne in peace.

E direis: Assim diz o rei: metei este homem na casa do cárcere; e sustentai-o com pão de angústia, e com água de angustia, até que eu volte em paz.

27 And Michaiah said, If thou returne in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he saide, Heare, all ye people.

E disse Micha: Se é que tornares em paz, o Senhor não tem falado por mim. Disse mais: Ouvi, povos todos!

28 So the King of Israel and Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah went vp to Ramoth Gilead.

Subiram pois o rei de Israel e Josaphat rei de Judá, a Ramoth-gilead.

29 And the King of Israel said vnto Iehoshaphat, I will change my selfe, and enter into the battel: but put thou on thine apparel. So the King of Israel changed himselfe, and they went into the battel.

E disse o rei de Israel a Josaphat: Disfarçando-me eu, então entrarei na peleja; tu porém veste as tuas vestiduras. Disfarçou-se pois o rei de Israel, e entraram na peleja.

30 And the King of Aram had commanded the captaines of the charets that were with him, saying, Fight you not with small, nor great, but against the King of Israel onely.

Deu ordem porém o rei da Síria aos capitães dos carros que tinha, dizendo: Não pelejareis nem contra pequeno, nem contra grande: senão só contra o rei de Israel.

31 And when the captaines of the charets saw Iehoshaphat, they sayde, It is the King of Israel: and they compassed about him to fight. But Iehoshaphat cryed, and the Lord helped him and moued them to depart from him.

Sucedeu pois que, vendo os capitães dos carros a Josaphat, disseram: Este é o rei de Israel, e o cercaram para pelejarem; porém Josaphat clamou, e o Senhor o ajudou. E Deus os desviou dele.

32 For when the captaines of the charets saw that hee was not the King of Israel, they turned backe from him.

Porque sucedeu que, vendo os capitães dos carros, que não era o rei de Israel, tornaram de segui-lo.

33 Then a certaine man drewe a bowe mightily, and smote the King of Israel betweene the ioyntes of his brigandine: Therefore he saide to his charetman, Turne thine hand, and carie mee out of the host: for I am hurt.

Então um homem armou o arco na sua simplicidade, e feriu o rei de Israel entre as junturas e a couraça: então disse ao carreteiro: Vira a tua mão, e tira-me do exército, porque estou mui ferido.

34 And the battel increased that day: and the King of Israel stood still in his charet against the Aramites vntil euen, and dyed at the time of the sunne going downe.

E aquele dia cresceu a peleja, mas o rei de Israel susteve-se em pé no carro defronte dos siros até à tarde; e morreu ao tempo do pôr do sol
