2 Chronicles 16
1 In the sixe and thirtieth yeere of the reigne of Asa came Baasha king of Israel vp against Iudah, and built Ramah to let none passe out or goe in to Asa king of Iudah.
L'ANNO trentesimosesto del regno di Asa, Baasa, re d'Israele, salì contro a Giuda, ed edificò Rama, per non lasciar nè uscire nè entrare alcuno ad Asa, re di Giuda.
2 Then Asa brought out siluer and gold out of the treasures of the house of the Lord, and of the Kings house, and sent to Benhadad King of Aram that dwelt at Damascus, saying,
Laonde Asa trasse fuori argento, ed oro, da' tesori dalla Casa del Signore, e della casa reale, e [lo] mandò a Benhadad, re di Siria, il quale abitava in Damasco, dicendo:
3 There is a couenant betweene me and thee, and betweene my father and thy father: behold, I haue sent thee siluer and golde: come, breake thy league with Baasha King of Israel that hee may depart from me.
[Siavi] lega fra me e te [come è stata] fra tuo padre e mio padre; ecco, io ti mando oro ed argento; va', rompi la lega che tu hai con Baasa, re d'Israele, acciocchè egli si ritragga da me.
4 And Benhadad hearkened vnto King Asa, and sent the captaines of the armies which hee had, against the cities of Israel. And they smote Iion, and Dan, and Abel-maim, and all the store cities of Naphtali.
E Benhadad acconsentì al re Asa, e mandò i capitani de' suoi eserciti contro alle città d'Israele; ed essi percossero Ion, e Dan, ed Abel-maim, e tutte le città da magazzini di Neftali.
5 And when Baasha heard it, he left building of Ramah, and let his worke cease.
E quando Baasa ebbe [ciò] inteso, restò d'edificar Rama, e fece cessare il suo lavoro.
6 Then Asa the King tooke all Iudah, and caryed away the stones of Ramah and the tymber thereof, wherewith Baasha did builde, and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah.
Allora il re Asa prese tutto [il popolo di] Giuda; ed essi portarono via le pietre e il legname di Rama, la quale Baasa edificava; ed egli ne edificò Ghibea e Mispa.
7 And at that same time Hanani the Seer came to Asa King of Iudah, and saide vnto him, Because thou hast rested vpon the king of Aram, and not rested in the Lord thy God, therefore is the hoste of the King of Aram escaped out of thine hande.
Ed in quel tempo il veggente Hanani venne ad Asa, re di Giuda, e gli disse: Perciocchè tu ti sei appoggiato sopra il re di Siria, e non ti sei appoggiato sopra il Signore Iddio tuo, per ciò l'esercito del re di Siria ti è scampato dalle mani.
8 The Ethiopians and the Lubims, were they not a great hoste with charets and horsemen, exceeding many? yet because thou diddest rest vpon the Lord, he deliuered them into thine had.
Gli Etiopi ed i Libii non erano essi un grande esercito, con grandissimo numero di carri e di cavalieri? e pure, perchè tu ti appoggiasti sopra il Signore, egli te li diede nelle mani.
9 For the eyes of the Lord beholde all the earth to shewe him selfe strong with them that are of perfite heart towarde him: thou hast then done foolishly in this: therefore from henceforth thou shalt haue warres.
Conciossiachè gli occhi del Signore corrano per tutta la terra, per mostrarsi potente in favor di coloro che hanno il cuore intiero inverso lui; tu hai follemente fatto in questa cosa; perciocchè da ora innanzi tu avrai [sempre] guerre.
10 Then Asa was wroth with the Seer, and put him into a prison: for he was displeased with him, because of this thing. And Asa oppressed certaine of the people at the same time.
Ed Asa s'indegnò contro al veggente, e lo fece incarcerare; perciocchè [era] in gran cruccio contro a lui per ciò. Asa ancora oppressò in quel tempo [alcuni] del popolo.
11 And behold, the actes of Asa first and last, loe, they are written in the booke of the Kings of Iudah and Israel.
Or ecco, i fatti di Asa, primi ed ultimi, sono scritti nel libro dei re di Giuda e d'Israele.
12 And Asa in the nine and thirtieth yeere of his reigne was diseased in his feete, and his disease was extreme: yet he sought not the Lord in his disease, but to the Phisicions.
Ed Asa, l'anno trentanovesimo del suo regno, infermò de' piedi, e la sua infermità [fu] strema, e pure ancora nella sua infermità egli non ricercò il Signore, anzi i medici.
13 So Asa slept with his fathers, and dyed in the one and fourtieth yeere of his reigne.
Ed Asa giacque co' suoi padri, e morì l'anno quarantunesimo del suo regno;
14 And they buryed him in one of his sepulchres, which he had made for him selfe in the citie of Dauid, and layed him in the bed, which they had filled with sweete odours and diuers kindes of spices made by the arte of the apoticarie: and they burnt odours for him with an exceeding great fire.
e fu seppellito nella sua sepoltura, la quale egli si avea cavata nella Città di Davide; e fu posto in un cataletto che egli avea empiuto d'aromati, e d'odori composti per arte di profumiere; e gliene fu arsa una grandissima quantità.
