2 Chronicles 12
1 And when Rehoboam had established the kingdome and made it strong, hee forsooke the Lawe of the Lord, and all Israel with him.
Consolidado y afianzado que hubo el reino, abandonó Roboam la Ley de Yahvé, y con él todo Israel.
2 Therefore in the fift yeere of King Rehoboam, Shishak the King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem (because they had transgressed against the Lord)
Y sucedió que el año quinto del rey Roboam subió Sesac, rey de Egipto, contra Jerusalén —porque (sus habitantes) no eran fieles a Yahvé—
3 With twelue hundreth charets, and three score thousande horsemen, and the people were without nomber, that came with him from Egypt, euen the Lubims, Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.
con mil doscientos carros y sesenta mil jinetes; y no se podía contar la gente que venía con él de Egipto: libios, suquitas y etíopes.
4 And he tooke the strong cities which were of Iudah, and came vnto Ierusalem.
Tomó las ciudades fortificadas de Judá y llegó hasta Jerusalén.
5 Then came Shemaiah the Prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Iudah, that were gathered together in Hierusalem, because of Shishak, and sayde vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord, Ye haue forsaken me, therefore haue I also left you in the handes of Shishak.
Entonces el profeta Semeías vino a Roboam y a los jefes de Judá, que se habían reunido en Jerusalén por miedo a Sesac, y les dijo: “Así dice Yahvé: Vosotros me habéis abandonado, y por esto también Yo os abandono en poder de Sesac.”
6 Then the princes of Israel, and the King humbled themselues, and sayde, The Lord is iust.
Efectivamente los príncipes de Israel y el rey se humillaron y dijeron: “¡Justo es Yahvé!”
7 And when the Lord sawe that they humbled themselues, the worde of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, They haue humbled theselues, therefore I will not destroy them, but I will sende them deliuerance shortly, and my wrath shall not bee powred out vpon Ierusalem by the hand of Shishak.
Cuando Yahvé vio que se habían humillado, llegó a Semeías la palabra de Yahvé, que decía: “Por haberse ellos humillado, no los destruiré, sino que les concederé un poco de salvación, y no se derramará mi ira sobre Jerusalén por mano de Sesac.
8 Neuerthelesse they shalbe his sernants: so shall they knowe my seruice, and the seruice of the kingdomes of the earth.
Pero le quedarán sujetos, para que conozcan lo que es mi servidumbre y la servidumbre de los reinos de los países.”
9 Then Shishak King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem, and tooke the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the Kings house he tooke euen all, and hee caried away the shields of golde, which Salomon had made.
Subió, pues, Sesac rey de Egipto contra Jerusalén y tomó los tesoros de la Casa de Yahvé y los tesoros de la casa real. Lo tomó todo, y se llevó también los escudos de oro hechos por Salomón.
10 In stead whereof King Rehoboam made shieldes of brasse, and committed them to the handes of the chiefe of the garde, that wayted at the doore of the Kings house.
En su lugar hizo el rey Roboam escudos de bronce, que entregó en manos de los jefes de la guardia que custodiaban la entrada de la casa del rey.
11 And when the King entred into the house of the Lord, the garde came and bare them and brought them againe vnto the garde chamber.
Y siempre que el rey iba a la Casa de Yahvé, venían los de la guardia y los llevaban; y después volvían a ponerlos en la cámara de la guardia.
12 And because hee humbled himselfe, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, that hee woulde not destroy all together. And also in Iudah the things prospered.
A raíz de su humillación se apartó de él la ira de Yahvé, el cual no le destruyó del todo, pues se hallaban aún en Judá algunas obras buenas.
13 So King Rehoboam was strong in Ierusalem and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and fourtie yere olde, when he began to reigne, and reigned seuenteene yeres in Ierusalem, the citie which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his Name there. And his mothers name was Naamah an Ammonitesse.
El rey Roboam se fortaleció en Jerusalén, y reinó. Roboam tenía cuarenta y un años cuando empezó a reinar, y diez y siete años reinó en Jerusalén, la ciudad que Yahvé había escogido de entre todas las tribus de Israel para poner allí su Nombre. Su madre se llamaba Naamá, ammonita.
14 And he did euill: for hee prepared not his heart to seeke the Lord.
Hizo lo que era malo, porque no había dispuesto su corazón para buscar a Yahvé.
15 The actes also of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the booke of Shemaiah the Prophet, and Iddo the Seer, in rehearsing the genealogie? and there was warre alway betweene Rehoboam and Ieroboam.
Las actividades de Roboam, las primeras y las postreras, ¿no están escritas exactamente en la historia del profeta Semeías y del vidente Iddó? Entre Roboam y Jeroboam hubo continuamente guerra.
16 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the citie of Dauid, and Abiiah his sonne reigned in his stead.
Roboam se durmió con sus padres, y fue sepultado en la ciudad de David. En su lugar reinó su hijo Abías.
