2 Chronicles 12

1 And when Rehoboam had established the kingdome and made it strong, hee forsooke the Lawe of the Lord, and all Israel with him.

Sucedeu pois que, havendo Roboão confirmado o reino, e havendo-se fortalecido, deixou a lei do Senhor, e com ele todo o Israel.

2 Therefore in the fift yeere of King Rehoboam, Shishak the King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem (because they had transgressed against the Lord)

Pelo que sucedeu, no ano quinto do rei Roboão, que Sisak, rei do Egito, subiu contra Jerusalém (porque tinham transgredido contra o Senhor)

3 With twelue hundreth charets, and three score thousande horsemen, and the people were without nomber, that came with him from Egypt, euen the Lubims, Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.

Com mil e duzentos carros, e com sessenta mil cavaleiros; e era inumerável a gente que vinha com ele do Egito, de lybios, suchitas e ethiopes.

4 And he tooke the strong cities which were of Iudah, and came vnto Ierusalem.

E tomou as cidades fortes, que Judá tinha; e veio a Jerusalém.

5 Then came Shemaiah the Prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Iudah, that were gathered together in Hierusalem, because of Shishak, and sayde vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord, Ye haue forsaken me, therefore haue I also left you in the handes of Shishak.

Então veio Semaias, o profeta, a Roboão e aos príncipes de Judá que se ajuntaram em Jerusalém por causa de Sisak, e disse-lhes: Assim diz o Senhor: Vós me deixastes a mim, pelo que eu também vos deixei na mão de Sisak.

6 Then the princes of Israel, and the King humbled themselues, and sayde, The Lord is iust.

Então se humilharam os príncipes de Israel, e o rei, e disseram: O Senhor é justo.

7 And when the Lord sawe that they humbled themselues, the worde of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, They haue humbled theselues, therefore I will not destroy them, but I will sende them deliuerance shortly, and my wrath shall not bee powred out vpon Ierusalem by the hand of Shishak.

Vendo pois o Senhor que se humilhavam, veio a palavra do Senhor a Semaias, dizendo: Humilharam-se, não os destruirei; antes em breve lhes darei lugar d'escaparem, para que o meu furor se não derrame sobre Jerusalém, por mão de Sisak.

8 Neuerthelesse they shalbe his sernants: so shall they knowe my seruice, and the seruice of the kingdomes of the earth.

Porém serão seus servos: para que conheçam a diferença da minha servidão e da servidão dos reinos da terra

9 Then Shishak King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem, and tooke the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the Kings house he tooke euen all, and hee caried away the shields of golde, which Salomon had made.

Subiu pois Sisak, rei do Egito, contra Jerusalém, e tomou os tesouros da casa do Senhor, e os tesouros da casa do rei; levou tudo: também tomou os escudos de ouro, que Salomão fizera.

10 In stead whereof King Rehoboam made shieldes of brasse, and committed them to the handes of the chiefe of the garde, that wayted at the doore of the Kings house.

E fez o rei Roboão em lugar deles escudos de cobre, e os entregou na mão dos capitães da guarda, que guardavam a porta da casa do rei.

11 And when the King entred into the house of the Lord, the garde came and bare them and brought them againe vnto the garde chamber.

E sucedeu que, entrando o rei na casa do Senhor, vinham os da guarda, e os traziam, e os tornavam a pôr na câmara da guarda.

12 And because hee humbled himselfe, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, that hee woulde not destroy all together. And also in Iudah the things prospered.

E humilhando-se ele, a ira do Senhor se desviou dele, para que o não destruisse de todo; porque ainda em Judá havia boas coisas.

13 So King Rehoboam was strong in Ierusalem and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and fourtie yere olde, when he began to reigne, and reigned seuenteene yeres in Ierusalem, the citie which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his Name there. And his mothers name was Naamah an Ammonitesse.

Fortificou-se pois o rei Roboão em Jerusalém, e reinou; porque Roboão era da idade de quarenta e um anos, quando começou a reinar; e dezesete anos reinou em Jerusalém, a cidade que o Senhor escolheu dentre todas as tribos de Israel, para pôr ali o seu nome; e era o nome de sua mãe Naama, amonita.

14 And he did euill: for hee prepared not his heart to seeke the Lord.

E fez o que era mal; porquanto não preparou o seu coração para buscar ao Senhor.

15 The actes also of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the booke of Shemaiah the Prophet, and Iddo the Seer, in rehearsing the genealogie? and there was warre alway betweene Rehoboam and Ieroboam.

Os sucessos pois de Roboão, assim os primeiros, como os últimos, porventura não estão escritos nos livros de Semaias, o profeta, e de Iddo, o vidente, na relação das genealogias? E havia guerras entre Roboão e Jeroboão em todos os seus dias.

16 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the citie of Dauid, and Abiiah his sonne reigned in his stead.

E Roboão dormiu com seus pais, e foi sepultado na cidade de David: e Abias, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
