1 Thessalonians 1

1 Pavl, and Siluanus, and Timotheus, vnto the Church of the Thessalonians, which is in God the Father, and in the Lord Iesus Christ: Grace be with you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Iesus Christ.

Paulus und Silvanus und Timotheus an die Gemeinde der Thessaloniker in Gott dem Vater und dem Herrn Jesus Christus. Gnade euch und Friede.

2 We giue God thankes alwayes for you all, making mention of you in our prayers

Wir danken Gott allezeit über euch alle, indem wir von euch reden in unseren Gebeten, da wir ohne Unterlaß

3 Without ceasing, remembring your effectuall faith, and diligent loue, and the patience of your hope in our Lord Iesus Christ, in the sight of God euen our Father,

gedenken eures Glaubenswerkes und eurer Liebesmühe, und eures Beharrens in der Hoffnung auf unseren Herrn Jesus Christus, angesichts unseres Gottes und Vaters.

4 Knowing, beloued brethren, that ye are elect of God.

Kennen wir doch, von Gott geliebte Brüder, eure Erwählung,

5 For our Gospell was not vnto you in worde only, but also in power, and in the holy Ghost, and in much assurance, as ye know after what maner we were among you for your sakes.

da wir euch das Evangelium predigen durften, nicht mit Worten bloß, sondern mit Kraft und heiligem Geiste und großer Zuversicht (wisset ihr ja selbst, welcher Art wir uns unter euch gegeben haben um euretwillen)

6 And ye became followers of vs, and of the Lord, and receiued the worde in much affliction, with ioy of the holy Ghost,

und wie ihr in unsere und des Herrn Nachfolge getreten seid, und habt das Wort bei vieler Bedrängnis angenommen mit der Freudigkeit heiligen Geistes,

7 So that ye were as ensamples to all that beleeue in Macedonia and in Achaia.

so daß ihr zum Vorbild wurdet für alle Gläubigen in Makedonia und Achaia.

8 For from you sounded out the worde of the Lord, not in Macedonia and in Achaia only: but your faith also which is toward God, spred abroad in all quarters, that we neede not to speake any thing.

Denn laut gieng von euch aus das Wort des Herrn nicht bloß in Makedonia und Achaia, sondern allerorten ist es ausgekommen, wie ihr an Gott glaubet, so daß wir nicht nötig haben, davon zu reden;

9 For they themselues shew of vs what maner of entring in we had vnto you, and how ye turned to God from idoles, to serue the liuing and true God,

die Leute erzählen selbst davon, wie wir bei euch Eingang gefunden, wie ihr euch bekehrt habt zu Gott von den Götzen, zu dienen dem lebendigen und wahrhaftigen Gott,

10 And to looke for his sonne from heauen, whome he raised from the dead, euen Iesus which deliuereth vs from that wrath to come.

und zu erwarten seinen Sohn von den Himmeln, den er von den Toten erweckt hat, Jesus der uns errettet von dem Zorngericht, das da kommt.
