1 Samuel 1
1 There was a man of one of the two Ramathaim Zophim, of mount Ephraim, whose name was Elkanah the sonne of Ieroham, the sonne of Elihu, the sonne of Tohu, the sonne of Zuph, an Ephrathite:
OR v'era un uomo di Ramataim-Somfi, del monte di Efraim, il cui nome [era] Elcana, figliuolo di Ieroham, figliuolo di Elihu, figliuolo di Tohu, figliuolo di Suf, Efrateo.
2 And he had two wiues: the name of one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
Ed esso avea due mogli: il nome dell'una [era] Anna, e il nome dell'altra Peninna; e Peninna avea figliuoli, ma Anna non ne avea.
3 And this man went vp out of his citie euery yeere, to worship and to sacrifice vnto the Lord of hostes in Shiloh, where were the two sonnes of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas Priests of the Lord.
Or quell'uomo saliva dalla sua città di anno in anno, per adorare, e per sacrificare al Signore degli eserciti, in Silo; ove [erano] i due figliuoli di Eli, Hofni e Finees, sacerdoti del Signore.
4 And on a day, when Elkanah sacrificed, he gaue to Peninnah his wife and to all her sonnes and daughters portions,
Ed avvenne un giorno che Elcana, avendo sacrificato, diede delle porzioni a Peninna, sua moglie, ed a tutti i figliuoli e figliuole di essa;
5 But vnto Hannah he gaue a worthy portion: for he loued Hannah, and the Lord had made her barren.
ma ad Anna ne diede una doppia; perciocchè egli amava Anna, benchè il Signore le avesse serrata la matrice.
6 And her aduersarie vexed her sore, forasmuch as she vpbraided her, because the Lord had made her barren.
E la sua avversaria non restava di provocarla a cruccio, per farla turbare; perciocchè il Signore le avea serrata la matrice.
7 (And so did he yeere by yeere) and as oft as she went vp to the house of the Lord, thus she vexed her, that she wept and did not eate.
[Elcana] adunque, facendo così ogni anno, [una volta], da che Anna fu salita alla Casa del Signore, [quell'altra] la provocò a sdegno a questo modo; onde ella piangeva, e non mangiava.
8 Then sayd Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thine heart troubled? am not I better to thee then ten sonnes?
Ed Elcana, suo marito, le disse: Anna, perchè piangi, e perchè non mangi, e perchè stai di mal'animo? non ti valgo io meglio che dieci figliuoli?
9 So Hannah rose vp after that they had eaten and drunke in Shiloh (and Eli the Priest sate vpon a stoole by one of the postes of the Temple of the Lord)
Ed Anna, dopo che si fu mangiato, e bevuto in Silo, si levò (or il Sacerdote Eli sedeva sopra la seggia, presso ad uno degli stipiti [della porta] del Tempio del Signore);
10 And she was troubled in her minde, and prayed vnto the Lord, and wept sore:
ed essendo in amaritudine d'animo, pregò il Signore, e piangea dirottamente.
11 Also she vowed a vowe, and sayd, O Lord of hostes, if thou wilt looke on the trouble of thine handmaide, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaide, but giue vnto thine handmaide a manchilde, then I will giue him vnto the Lord all the dayes of his life, and there shall no rasor come vpon his head.
Poi votò un voto, dicendo: O Signore degli eserciti, se pur tu riguardi all'afflizione della tua servente, e ti ricordi di me, e non dimentichi la tua servente, e doni alla tua servente progenie di figliuol maschio, io lo donerò al Signore, per tutto il tempo della sua vita; e rasoio non gli salirà giammai in sul capo.
12 And as she continued praying before the Lord, Eli marked her mouth.
Ora, mentre ella moltiplicava in orazioni davanti al Signore, Eli pose mente alla bocca di essa.
13 For Hannah spake in her heart: her lips did moue onely, but her voyce was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had bene drunken.
E Anna parlava entro a sè stessa, e le si movevano sol le labbra, e non si udiva la sua voce; onde Eli reputò che fosse ebbra;
14 And Eli sayde vnto her, Howe long wilt thou be drunken? Put away thy drunkennesse from thee.
e le disse: Infino a quando farai l'ebbra? cacciati il tuo vino d'addosso.
15 Then Hannah answered and sayd, Nay my lord, but I am a woman troubled in spirit: I haue drunke neither wine nor strong drinke, but haue powred out my soule before the Lord.
Ma Anna rispose, e disse: No, signor mio; io [sono] una donna tribolata nello spirito, e non ho bevuto nè vino, nè cervogia; anzi spando l'anima mia davanti al Signore.
16 Count not thine handmaide for a wicked woman: for of the abundance of my complaint and my griefe haue I spoken hitherto.
Non agguagliar la tua servente alle ree femmine; perciocchè per la gravezza del mio lamento, e del mio rammarico, io ho parlato infino ad ora.
17 Then Eli answered, and sayd, Go in peace, and the God of Israel graunt thy petition that thou hast asked of him.
Ed Eli rispose, e disse: Vattene in pace; l'Iddio d'Israele ti conceda la richiesta che tu gli hai fatta.
18 She sayd againe, Let thine handmayd finde grace in thy sight: so the woman went her way, and did eate, and looked no more sad.
Ed ella [gli] disse: Trovi la tua servente grazia appo te. Poi quella donna se ne andò al suo cammino, e mangiò; e la sua faccia non fu più quale [era prima].
19 Then they rose vp early, and worshipped before the Lord, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah. Nowe Elkanah knewe Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembred her.
Poi [Elcana, e i suoi], si levarono la mattina, e adorarono davanti al Signore; e se ne ritornarono, e vennero in casa loro, in Rama. Ed Elcana conobbe Anna sua moglie, e il Signore si ricordò di lei.
20 For in processe of time Hannah conceiued, and bare a sonne, and she called his name Samuel, Because, said she, I haue asked him of the Lord.
E al termine del tempo, dopo che Anna ebbe conceputo, ella partorì un figliuolo, e gli pose nome Samuele; perciocchè [disse ella], io l'ho chiesto al Signore.
21 So the man Elkanah and all his house went vp to offer vnto the Lord the yeerely sacrifice, and his vowe:
E quell'uomo Elcana salì con tutta la sua famiglia, per sacrificare al Signore il sacrificio annuale, e il suo voto.
22 But Hannah went not vp: for she sayd vnto her husband, I will tarie vntill the childe be weined, then I will bring him that hee may appeare before the Lord, and there abide for euer.
Ma Anna non vi salì; perciocchè disse al suo marito: [Io non vi salirò], finchè il fanciullo non sia spoppato; allora io lo condurrò, acciocchè sia presentato davanti al Signore, e che dimori quivi in perpetuo.
23 And Elkanah her husband sayd vnto her, Do what seemeth thee best: tarie vntill thou hast weined him: only the Lord accomplish his word. So the woman abode, and gaue her sonne sucke vntill she weined him.
Ed Elcana, suo marito, le disse: Fa' quello che ti par meglio; rimantene finchè tu l'abbi spoppato; adempia pure il Signore la sua parola. Così quella donna se ne rimase, e allattò il suo figliuolo, finchè l'ebbe spoppato.
24 And when she had weined him, she tooke him with her with three bullockes and an Ephah of floure and a bottell of wine, and brought him vnto the house of the Lord in Shiloh, and the childe was yong.
E, quando l'ebbe spoppato, ella lo menò seco, con tre giovenchi, e un efa di farina, e un barile di vino; e lo menò nella Casa del Signore, in Silo; e il fanciullo [era ancora] molto piccolo.
25 And they slewe a bullocke, and brought the childe to Eli.
Ed [Elcana ed Anna] scannarono un giovenco, e menarono il fanciullo ad Eli.
26 And she said, Oh my Lord, as thy soule liueth, my lord, I am the woman that stoode with thee here praying vnto the Lord.
Ed [Anna gli] disse: Ahi! signor mio; come l'anima tua vive, signor mio, io [son] quella donna che stava qui appresso di te, per fare orazione al Signore.
27 I prayed for this childe, and the Lord hath giuen me my desire which I asked of him.
Io pregai per [aver] questo fanciullo; e il Signore mi ha conceduta la richiesta che io gli feci.
28 Therefore also I haue giuen him vnto the Lord: as long as he liueth hee shalbe giuen vnto the Lord: and he worshipped the Lord there.
Onde io altresì l'ho prestato al Signore; egli sarà prestato al Signore tutti i giorni ch'egli sarà [in vita]. Ed essi adorarono quivi il Signore.
