1 Samuel 6
1 So the Arke of the Lord was in the countrey of the Philistims seuen moneths.
A arca de Yahweh estava no país dos filisteus há sete meses.
2 And the Philistims called the priests and the soothsayers, saying, What shall we doe with the Arke of the Lord? tell vs wherewith we shall send it home againe.
Os filisteus chamaram os sacerdotes e os divinizadores, dizendo: “O que faremos com a arca de Yahweh? Mostre-nos como devemos enviá-la para o seu lugar”.
3 And they sayd, If you send away the Arke of the God of Israel, send it not away emptie, but giue vnto it a sinne offering: then shall ye be healed, and it shall be knowen to you, why his hand departeth not from you.
Eles disseram: “Se você mandar embora a arca do Deus de Israel, não a envie vazia; mas por todos os meios devolva uma oferta de transgressão a ele. Então você será curado, e saberá por que sua mão não é retirada de você”.
4 Then sayd they, What shalbe the sinne offring, which we shall giue vnto it? And they answered, Fiue golden emerods and fiue golden mise, according to the number of the princes of the Philistims: for one plague was on you all, and on your princes.
Então eles disseram: “Qual deve ser a oferta de transgressão que devemos devolver a ele”? Eles disseram: “Cinco tumores dourados e cinco ratos dourados, pelo número dos senhores dos filisteus; pois uma praga estava sobre todos vocês, e sobre seus senhores”.
5 Wherefore ye shall make the similitudes of your emerods, and the similitudes of your mise that destroy the land: so ye shall giue glory vnto the God of Israel, that he may take his hand from you, and from your gods, and from your land.
Por isso, farás imagens de teus tumores e imagens de teus ratos que martelam a terra; e darás glória ao Deus de Israel”. Talvez ele solte sua mão de vocês, de seus deuses, e de sua terra.
6 Wherefore then should ye harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? when he wrought wonderfully among them, did they not let them goe, and they departed?
Por que então endurecem seus corações como os egípcios e o Faraó endureceram seus corações? Quando ele trabalhou maravilhosamente entre eles, eles não deixaram o povo ir, e partiram?
7 Now therefore make a new cart, and take two milch kine, on whome there hath come no yoke: and tye the kine to the cart, and bring the calues home from them.
“Agora, portanto, levem e preparem uma nova carroça e duas vacas leiteiras nas quais não tenha havido jugo; amarrem as vacas à carroça e tragam seus bezerros para casa;
8 Then take the Arke of the Lord, and set it vpon the cart, and put the iewels of gold which ye giue it for a sinne offering in a coffer by the side thereof, and send it away, that it may go.
e levem a arca de Yahweh e coloquem-na na carroça. Coloque as jóias de ouro, que o devolve para uma oferta de transgressão, em uma caixa ao lado; e mande-a embora, para que ela possa ir.
9 And take heede, if it goe vp by the way of his owne coast to Beth-shemesh, it is he that did vs this great euill: but if not, we shall know then, that it is not his hand that smote vs, but it was a chance that happened vs.
Eis que se ele subir pelo caminho de sua própria fronteira até Beth Shemesh, então ele nos fez este grande mal; mas se não, então saberemos que não foi a mão dele que nos golpeou. Foi uma oportunidade que nos aconteceu”.
10 And the men did so: for they tooke two kine that gaue milke, and tied them to the cart, and shut the calues at home.
Os homens o fizeram, pegaram duas vacas leiteiras, amarraram-nas à carroça e fecharam seus bezerros em casa.
11 So they set the Arke of the Lord vpon the cart, and the coffer with the mise of golde, and with the similitudes of their emerods.
Eles colocaram a arca de Yahweh na carroça, e a caixa com os ratos dourados e as imagens de seus tumores.
12 And the kine went the streight way to Beth-shemesh, and kept one path and lowed as they went, and turned neither to the right hand nor to the left: also the Princes of the Philistims went after them, vnto the borders of Beth-shemesh.
As vacas tomaram o caminho reto pelo caminho de Beth Shemesh. Foram pela estrada, baixando à medida que iam, e não voltaram para a direita nem para a esquerda; e os senhores dos filisteus foram atrás deles até a fronteira de Beth Shemesh.
13 Nowe they of Beth-shemesh were reaping their wheate haruest in the valley, and they lift vp their eyes, and spied the Arke, and reioyced when they sawe it.
O povo de Beth Shemesh estava colhendo sua colheita de trigo no vale; e levantaram os olhos e viram a arca, e se regozijaram ao vê-la.
14 And the cart came into the fielde of Ioshua a Beth-shemite, and stood still there. There was also a great stone, and they claue the wood of the cart, and offered the kine for a burnt offring vnto the Lord.
A carroça entrou no campo de Josué de Beth Shemesh, e ficou ali, onde havia uma grande pedra. Em seguida, dividiram a madeira da carroça e ofereceram as vacas para um holocausto a Javé.
15 And the Leuites tooke downe the Arke of the Lord, and the coffer that was with it, wherein the iewels of golde were, and put them on the great stone, and the men of Beth-shemesh offred burnt offring, and sacrificed sacrifices that same day vnto the Lord.
Os levitas derrubaram a arca de Iavé e a caixa que estava com ela, na qual estavam as jóias de ouro, e as colocaram sobre a grande pedra; e os homens de Beth Shemesh ofereceram holocaustos e sacrifícios no mesmo dia a Iavé.
16 And when the fiue Princes of ye Philistims had seene it, they returned to Ekron the same day.
Quando os cinco senhores dos filisteus o viram, voltaram a Ekron no mesmo dia.
17 So these are the golden emerods, which the Philistims gaue for a sinne offering to the Lord: for Ashdod one, for Gaza one, for Askelon one, for Gath one, and for Ekron one,
Estes são os tumores dourados que os filisteus retornaram para uma oferta de transgressão a Iavé: para Ashdod um, para Gaza um, para Ashkelon um, para Gate um, para Ekron um;
18 And golden mise, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistims, belonging to the fiue princes, both of walled townes, and of townes vnwalled, vnto the great stone of Abel, whereon they set the Arke of the Lord: which stone remaineth vnto this day in the fielde of Ioshua the Beth-shemite.
e os ratos dourados, de acordo com o número de todas as cidades dos filisteus pertencentes aos cinco senhores, tanto das cidades fortificadas como das aldeias do campo, até a grande pedra sobre a qual eles colocaram a arca de Iavé. Essa pedra permanece até hoje no campo de Josué de Beth Shemesh.
19 And hee smote of the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had looked in the Arke of the Lord: he slew euen among the people fiftie thousand men and three score and ten men. and the people lamented, because the Lord had slaine the people with so great a slaughter.
Ele atingiu os homens de Beth Shemesh, porque eles tinham olhado para a arca de Iavé, ele atingiu cinqüenta mil e setenta dos homens. Então o povo lamentou, porque Javé havia atingido o povo com um grande massacre.
20 Wherefore the men of Beth-shemesh said, Who is able to stand before this holy Lord God? and to whom shall he go from vs?
Os homens de Beth Shemesh disseram: “Quem é capaz de estar diante de Iavé, este Deus santo? A quem ele subirá de nós?”.
21 And they sent messengers to the inhabitans of Kiriath-iearim, saying, The Philistims haue brought againe the Arke of the Lord: come ye downe and take it vp to you.
Eles enviaram mensageiros aos habitantes de Kiriath Jearim, dizendo: “Os filisteus trouxeram de volta a arca de Yahweh. Desçam e tragam-na até vocês mesmos”.
