< 1 Samuel 31 >

1 Now the Philistims fought against Israel, and the me of Israel fled away from ye Philistims, and they fell downe wounded in mount Gilboa.
Pea ko eni, naʻe tauʻi ʻa ʻIsileli ʻe he kakai Filisitia: pea naʻe hola ʻae kau tangata ʻIsileli mei he ʻao ʻoe kakai Filisitia, pea naʻe tō ʻo mate [ʻakinautolu ]ʻi he moʻunga ko Kilipoa.
2 And the Philistims preassed sore vpon Saul and his sonnes, and slewe Ionathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua Sauls sonnes.
Pea naʻe tuli mālohi ʻe he kakai Filisitia, ʻa Saula mo hono ngaahi foha: pea naʻe teʻia ʻa Sonatane ʻe he kakai Filisitia, mo ʻApinatapi, mo Malikisua, ko e ngaahi foha ʻo Saula.
3 And when the battel went sore against Saul, the archers and bowmen hit him, and hee was sore wounded of the archers.
Pea naʻe hoko mālohi ʻae tau kia Saula, pea naʻe touʻia ia ʻi he kau tangata fakakaufana; pea kafo mamahi ia ʻi he kau tangata fakakaufana.
4 Then saide Saul vnto his armour bearer, Drawe out thy sworde, and thrust mee through therewith, lest the vncircumcised come and thrust me through and mocke me: but his armour bearer would not, for hee was sore afraid. Therefore Saul tooke a sworde and fell vpon it.
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Saula ki hono hoa tau, “Unuhi hake hoʻo heletā, ʻo tui ʻaki au ke ʻasi; telia naʻa haʻu ʻae kakai taʻekamu ni, ʻo tui ʻaki au, pea manukiʻi au.” Ka naʻe ʻikai fiefai ia ʻe hono hoa tau; he naʻe manavahē lahi ia. Ko ia naʻe toʻo ai ʻe Saula ʻae heletā, pea ne fakahinga ia ki ai.
5 And when his armour bearer sawe that Saul was dead, he fell likewise vpon his sword, and dyed with him.
Pea ʻi he mamata ʻe hono hoa tau kuo mate ʻa Saula, naʻe fakahinga foki ia ki heʻene heletā, pea mate fakataha mo ia.
6 So Saul dyed, and his three sonnes, and his armour bearer, and all his men that same day together.
Ko ia naʻe mate ai ʻa Saula mo hono foha ʻe toko tolu, mo hono hoa tau, mo hono kau tangata kotoa pē fakataha ʻi he ʻaho pe ko ia.
7 And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they of the other side Iorden saw that the men of Israel were put to flight, and that Saul and his sonnes were dead, then they left the cities, and ran away: and the Philistims came and dwelt in them.

8 And on the morowe when the Philistims were come to spoyle them that were slaine, they founde Saul and his three sonnes lying in mount Gilboa,
Pea pongipongi hake naʻe pehē, ʻi he haʻu ʻae kau Filisitia ke vete ʻae kakai mate, naʻa nau ʻilo ʻa Saula mo hono foha ʻe toko tolu kuo tō ʻi he moʻunga ko Kilipoa.
9 And they cut off his head, and stripped him out of his armour, and sent into the land of ye Philistims on euery side, that they should publish it in the temple of their idoles, and among the people.
Pea naʻa nau tutuʻu hono ʻulu, pea toʻo ʻene mahafutau, pea fekau ki he fonua ʻoe kakai Filisitia ʻo takatakai, ke fakaongo ia ʻi he fale ʻo honau ngaahi tamapua, pea ki honau kakai.
10 And they layed vp his armour in the house of Ashtaroth, but they hanged vp his body on the wall of Beth-shan.
Pea naʻa nau ʻai hono ngaahi kofu tau ki he fale ʻo ʻAsitelote: pea naʻa nau fakamaʻu hono sino ki he ʻā maka ʻo Pete-Sani.
11 When the inhabitants of Iabesh Gilead heard, what the Philistims had done to Saul,
Pea ʻi he fanongo ʻae kakai Sepesi-Kiliati ki he meʻa kuo fai ʻe he kakai Filisitia kia Saula;
12 Then they arose (as many as were strong men) and went all night, and tooke the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sonnes, from the wall of Beth-shan, and came to Iabesh, and burnt them there,
Naʻe tuʻu hake ʻae kau tangata toʻa kotoa pē, pea fononga ʻi he pō kotoa ko ia, ʻonau toʻo ʻae sino ʻo Saula mo e sino ʻo hono ngaahi foha mei he ʻā maka ʻo Pete-Sani pea naʻa nau ʻomi ia ki Sepesi ʻo tutu ia ʻi ai.
13 And tooke their bones and buried them vnder a tree at Iabesh, and fasted seuen dayes.
Pea naʻa nau toʻo honau ngaahi hui, pea tanu ia ʻi he lolo ʻakau ʻi Sepesi, pea naʻa nau ʻaukai ʻi he ʻaho ʻe fitu.
