1 Samuel 31
1 Now the Philistims fought against Israel, and the me of Israel fled away from ye Philistims, and they fell downe wounded in mount Gilboa.
Los filisteos atacaron a Israel, y los hombres de Israel huyeron en fuga ante los filisteos, cayendo muertos en el monte Gilboa.
2 And the Philistims preassed sore vpon Saul and his sonnes, and slewe Ionathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua Sauls sonnes.
Y los filisteos tomaron a Saúl y sus hijos; y mataron a Jonatán, a Abinadab y a Malquisua, los hijos de Saúl.
3 And when the battel went sore against Saul, the archers and bowmen hit him, and hee was sore wounded of the archers.
Y la lucha iba mal para Saúl, y los arqueros se cruzaron con él y fue herido por los arqueros.
4 Then saide Saul vnto his armour bearer, Drawe out thy sworde, and thrust mee through therewith, lest the vncircumcised come and thrust me through and mocke me: but his armour bearer would not, for hee was sore afraid. Therefore Saul tooke a sworde and fell vpon it.
Entonces Saúl dijo al siervo su escudero: Saca tu espada y pásala a través de mí, antes de que estos hombres sin circuncisión vengan y se burlen de mí. Pero su sirviente, lleno de miedo, no lo hizo. Entonces Saúl sacó su espada y cayendo sobre ella, se puso fin a sí mismo.
5 And when his armour bearer sawe that Saul was dead, he fell likewise vpon his sword, and dyed with him.
Y cuando su criado vio que Saúl estaba muerto, él hizo lo mismo, y se unió a él en la muerte.
6 So Saul dyed, and his three sonnes, and his armour bearer, and all his men that same day together.
Entonces la muerte alcanzó a Saúl y sus tres hijos y su siervo el mismo día.
7 And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they of the other side Iorden saw that the men of Israel were put to flight, and that Saul and his sonnes were dead, then they left the cities, and ran away: and the Philistims came and dwelt in them.
Y cuando los hombres de Israel cruzaron el valle y al otro lado del Jordán vieron que el ejército de Israel estaba huyendo y que Saúl y sus hijos estaban muertos, salieron de sus ciudades y huyeron; Y vinieron los filisteos y los tomaron para sí mismos.
8 And on the morowe when the Philistims were come to spoyle them that were slaine, they founde Saul and his three sonnes lying in mount Gilboa,
Al día siguiente, cuando los filisteos vinieron a sacar sus bienes de los muertos, vieron a Saúl y sus tres hijos muertos en la tierra en el monte Gilboa.
9 And they cut off his head, and stripped him out of his armour, and sent into the land of ye Philistims on euery side, that they should publish it in the temple of their idoles, and among the people.
Y cortándole la cabeza y quitándole el traje de guerra, enviaron un mensaje a la tierra de los filisteos por todas partes, para llevar las noticias a sus dioses y al pueblo.
10 And they layed vp his armour in the house of Ashtaroth, but they hanged vp his body on the wall of Beth-shan.
Se pusieron sus ropas de guerra en la casa de Astarté. y su cuerpo fue fijado en la pared de Beth-san.
11 When the inhabitants of Iabesh Gilead heard, what the Philistims had done to Saul,
Y cuando los habitantes de Jabes-galaad tuvieron noticias de lo que los filisteos habían hecho a Saúl,
12 Then they arose (as many as were strong men) and went all night, and tooke the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sonnes, from the wall of Beth-shan, and came to Iabesh, and burnt them there,
Se levantaron todos los fuertes y valientes, viajando toda la noche, tomaron el cuerpo de Saúl y los cuerpos de sus hijos del muro de Bet-sán; y viniendo a Jabes y los quemaron allí.
13 And tooke their bones and buried them vnder a tree at Iabesh, and fasted seuen dayes.
Y tomando los huesos lo enterraron debajo del árbol tamarisco en Jabes; Y por siete días guardaron ayuno.
