1 Samuel 31
1 Now the Philistims fought against Israel, and the me of Israel fled away from ye Philistims, and they fell downe wounded in mount Gilboa.
Și filistenii s-au luptat cu Israel; și bărbații lui Israel au fugit din fața filistenilor și au căzut uciși în muntele Ghilboa.
2 And the Philistims preassed sore vpon Saul and his sonnes, and slewe Ionathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua Sauls sonnes.
Și filistenii i-au urmărit necontenit pe Saul și pe fiii săi; și filistenii au ucis pe Ionatan și pe Abinadab și pe Malchi-Șua, fiii lui Saul.
3 And when the battel went sore against Saul, the archers and bowmen hit him, and hee was sore wounded of the archers.
Și bătălia s-a încins împotriva lui Saul și arcașii l-au lovit și a fost rănit grav de arcași.
4 Then saide Saul vnto his armour bearer, Drawe out thy sworde, and thrust mee through therewith, lest the vncircumcised come and thrust me through and mocke me: but his armour bearer would not, for hee was sore afraid. Therefore Saul tooke a sworde and fell vpon it.
Atunci Saul a spus purtătorului său de arme: Scoate-ți sabia și străpunge-mă cu ea, ca nu cumva acești necircumciși să vină și să mă străpungă și să își bată joc de mine. Dar purtătorul său de arme a refuzat, pentru că se temea foarte tare. De aceea Saul a luat o sabie și s-a aruncat în ea.
5 And when his armour bearer sawe that Saul was dead, he fell likewise vpon his sword, and dyed with him.
Și când purtătorul său de arme a văzut că Saul era mort, s-a aruncat și el în sabia lui și a murit cu el.
6 So Saul dyed, and his three sonnes, and his armour bearer, and all his men that same day together.
Astfel Saul a murit și cei trei fii ai săi și purtătorul său de arme și toți oamenii săi, în aceeași zi, împreună.
7 And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they of the other side Iorden saw that the men of Israel were put to flight, and that Saul and his sonnes were dead, then they left the cities, and ran away: and the Philistims came and dwelt in them.
Și când bărbații lui Israel care erau de partea cealaltă a văii și cei de partea cealaltă a Iordanului, au văzut că bărbații lui Israel au fugit și că Saul și fiii săi erau morți, au părăsit cetățile și au fugit; și filistenii au venit și au locuit în ele.
8 And on the morowe when the Philistims were come to spoyle them that were slaine, they founde Saul and his three sonnes lying in mount Gilboa,
Și s-a întâmplat a doua zi, după ce filistenii au venit să îi dezbrace pe cei uciși, că au găsit pe Saul și pe cei trei fii ai săi, căzuți la muntele Ghilboa.
9 And they cut off his head, and stripped him out of his armour, and sent into the land of ye Philistims on euery side, that they should publish it in the temple of their idoles, and among the people.
Și i-au retezat capul și l-au dezbrăcat de armura lui și au trimis în țara filistenilor de jur împrejur, să proclame aceasta în casa idolilor lor și printre popor.
10 And they layed vp his armour in the house of Ashtaroth, but they hanged vp his body on the wall of Beth-shan.
Și i-au pus armura în casa Astarteei; și i-au pironit trupul de zidul Bet-Șanului.
11 When the inhabitants of Iabesh Gilead heard, what the Philistims had done to Saul,
Și când locuitorii din Iabes-Galaad au auzit despre cele ce făcuseră filistenii lui Saul,
12 Then they arose (as many as were strong men) and went all night, and tooke the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sonnes, from the wall of Beth-shan, and came to Iabesh, and burnt them there,
Toți bărbații viteji s-au ridicat și au mers toată noaptea și au luat trupul lui Saul și trupurile fiilor săi de pe zidul Bet-Șanului și au venit la Iabes și le-au ars acolo.
13 And tooke their bones and buried them vnder a tree at Iabesh, and fasted seuen dayes.
Și le-au luat oasele și le-au îngropat sub un copac la Iabes și au postit șapte zile.
