1 Samuel 27
1 And Dauid said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: is it not better for me that I saue my selfe in the lande of the Philistims, and that Saul may haue no hope of me to seeke me any more in all the coastes of Israel, and so escape out of his hand?
Mais David dit en son cœur: Certes je périrai un jour par les mains de Saul; ne vaut-il pas mieux que je me sauve au pays des Philistins, afin que Saul n'espère plus de [me trouver], en me cherchant encore en quelqu'une des contrées d'Israël? car je me sauverai ainsi de ses mains.
2 Dauid therefore arose, and he, and the sixe hundreth men that were with him, went vnto Achish the sonne of Maoch King of Gath.
David donc se leva, lui et les six cents hommes qui étaient avec lui, et il passa vers Akis fils de Mahoc, Roi de Gath.
3 And Dauid dwelt with Achish at Gath, he, and his men, euery man with his housholde, Dauid with his two wiues, Ahinoam the Izreelite, and Abigail Nabals wife the Carmelite.
Et David demeura avec Akis à Gath, lui et ses gens, chacun avec sa famille, David et ses deux femmes; [savoir] Ahinoham, qui était de Jizréhel, et Abigaïl, [qui avait été] femme de Nabal, lequel était de Carmel.
4 And it was tolde Saul that Dauid was fled to Gath: so he sought no more for him.
Alors on rapporta à Saül que David s'en était fui à Gath; ainsi il ne continua plus de le chercher.
5 And Dauid saide vnto Achish, If I haue nowe founde peace in thine eyes, let them giue me a place in some other citie of the countrey, that I may dwell there: for why should thy seruant dwel in ye head citie of the kingdome with thee?
Or David dit à Akis: Je te prie, si j'ai trouvé grâce devant toi, qu'on me donne quelque lieu dans l'une des villes de la campagne, afin que je demeure là; car pourquoi ton serviteur demeurerait-il dans la ville royale avec toi?
6 Then Achish gaue him Ziklag that same day: therefore Ziklag pertaineth vnto the kings of Iudah vnto this day.
Akis donc lui donna en ce jour-là Tsiklag; c'est pourquoi Tsiklag est demeurée aux Rois de Juda jusqu'à ce jour.
7 And the time that Dauid dwelt in the countrey of the Philistims, was foure moneths and certaine dayes.
Le nombre des jours que David demeura au pays des Philistins fut un an et quatre mois.
8 Then Dauid and his men went vp, and inuaded the Geshurites, and the Girzites, and the Amalekites: for they inhabited the lande from the beginning, from the way, as thou goest to Shur, euen vnto the lande of Egypt.
Or David montait avec ses gens, et ils faisaient des courses sur les Guesuriens, les Guirziens, et les Hamalécites; car ces [nations]-là habitaient au pays où [elles avaient habité] d'ancienneté, depuis Sur jusqu'au pays d'Egypte.
9 And Dauid smote the lande, and left neither man nor woman aliue, and tooke sheepe, and oxen, and asses, and camels, and apparell, and returned and came to Achish.
Et David désolait ces pays-là, il ne laissait ni homme ni femme en vie, et il prenait les brebis, les bœufs, les ânes, les chameaux, et les vêtements, puis il s'en retournait, et venait vers Akis.
10 And Achish said, Where haue ye bene a rouing this day? And Dauid answered, Against the South of Iudah, and against the South of the Ierahmeelites, and against the South of ye Kenites.
Et Akis disait: Où avez-vous fait vos courses aujourd'hui? Et David répondait: Vers le Midi de Juda, vers le Midi des Jerahméeliens, et vers le Midi des Kéniens.
11 And Dauid saued neither man nor woman aliue, to bring them to Gath, saying, Lest they should tel on vs, and say, So did Dauid, and so will be his maner all the while that he dwelleth in the countrey of the Philistims.
Mais David ne laissait en vie ni homme ni femme pour les amener à Gath, de peur, disait-il, qu'ils ne rapportent [quelque chose] contre nous, en disant: Ainsi a fait David. Et il en usa ainsi pendant tous les jours qu'il demeura au pays des Philistins.
12 And Achish beleeued Dauid, saying, He hath made his people of Israel vtterly to abhorre him: therefore he shalbe my seruant for euer.
Et Akis croyait David, et disait: Il s'est mis en mauvaise odeur auprès d'Israël son peuple; c'est pourquoi il sera mon serviteur à jamais.
