1 Samuel 26

1 Againe the Ziphims came vnto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doeth not Dauid hide him selfe in the hill of Hachilah before Ieshimon?

Llegaron los zifeos a Saúl, a Gabaá, y dijeron: “¿No se esconde David en el collado de Haquilá, al margen del desierto?”

2 Then Saul arose, and went downe to the wildernes of Ziph, hauing three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, for to seeke Dauid in the wildernesse of Ziph.

Se levantó Saúl y bajó al desierto de Zif, y con él tres mil hombres escogidos de Israel, para buscar a David en el desierto de Zif.

3 And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Ieshimon by the way side. Now Dauid abode in the wildernesse, and he sawe that Saul came after him into the wildernesse.

Acampó Saúl en el collado de Haquilá, al margen del desierto, junto al camino; David, empero, estaba en el desierto. Cuando David oyó que Saúl le había seguido al desierto,

4 (For Dauid had sent out spies, and vnderstood, that Saul was come in very deede)

envió espías y supo que Saúl realmente había venido.

5 Then Dauid arose, and came to the place where Saul had pitched, and when Dauid beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the sonne of Ner which was his chiefe captaine, (for Saul lay in the fort, and the people pitched round about him)

Luego se levantó David y fue al sitio donde Saúl acampaba; y divisó David el lugar donde Saúl estaba acostado, juntamente con Abner, hijo de Ner, jefe de sus tropas. Dormía Saúl dentro del atrincheramiento, y la gente acampaba en derredor de él.

6 Then spake Dauid, and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the sonne of Zeruiah, brother to Ioab, saying, Who will go downe with me to Saul to the hoste? Then Abishai said, I will goe downe with thee.

Se dirigió entonces David a Aquimelec heteo, y a Abisai, hijo de Sarvia, hermano de Joab, diciendo: “¿Quién quiere bajar conmigo al campamento de Saúl?” Respondió Abisai: “Yo iré contigo.”

7 So Dauid and Abishai came downe to the people by night: and beholde, Saul lay sleeping within the fort, and his speare did sticke in the ground at his head: and Abner and the people lay round about him.

Fueron, pues, David y Abisai de noche al pueblo, y hallaron a Saúl acostado, durmiendo dentro del atrincheramiento, con su lanza hincada en tierra, junto a su cabecera, y Abner y el pueblo dormían alrededor de él.

8 Then saide Abishai to Dauid, God hath closed thine enemie into thine hande this day: now therefore, I pray thee, let me smite him once with a speare to the earth, and I will not smite him againe.

Dijo entonces Abisai a David: “Dios ha entregado hoy en tus manos a tu enemigo. Permíteme ahora que con la lanza le clave en tierra de un solo golpe sin repetirlo.”

9 And Dauid sayde to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can lay his hand on the Lordes anoynted, and be giltlesse?

Pero David contestó a Abisai: “No le mates. Porque ¿quién podría extender su mano contra el ungido de Yahvé y quedar impune?”

10 Moreouer Dauid said, As the Lord liueth, eyther the Lord shall smite him, or his day shall come to dye, or he shall descend into battel, and perish.

Y agregó David: “¡Vive Yahvé! que seguramente le herirá Yahvé: o le llegará su día y morirá, o descenderá a la batalla y perderá la vida.

11 The Lord keepe mee from laying mine hand vpon the Lordes anointed: but, I pray thee, take now the speare that is at his head, and the pot of water, and let vs goe hence.

¡Líbreme Yahvé de extender mi mano contra el ungido de Yahvé! Toma ahora la lanza que está a su cabecera, y el jarro de agua, y vámonos.”

12 So Dauid tooke the speare and the pot of water from Sauls head, and they gate them away, and no man saw it, nor marked it, neither did any awake, but they were all asleepe: for the Lord had sent a dead sleepe vpon them.

Tomó, pues, David la lanza y el jarro de agua que estaban junto a la cabecera de Saúl, y se fueron. No hubo quien lo viese, ni quien lo supiese, ni quien se despertase; todos dormían; pues había caído sobre ellos un profundo sueño enviado por Yahvé.

13 Then Dauid went vnto the other side, and stoode on the toppe of an hill a farre off, a great space being betweene them.

Luego pasó David al lado opuesto y se apostó a cierta distancia, en la cima del monte, mediando bastante espacio entre ellos;

14 And Dauid cryed to the people, and to Abner the sonne of Ner, saying, Hearest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered, and said, Who art thou that cryest to the King?

y gritó al pueblo y a Abner, hijo de Ner, diciendo: “Abner, ¿no contestas?” Respondió Abner y dijo: “¿Quién eres tú que llamas al rey?”

15 And Dauid said to Abner, Art not thou a man? and who is like thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept thy lorde the King? for there came one of the folke in to destroy the King thy lord.

Y dijo David a Abner: “¿No eres tú un hombre valiente? ¿Quién hay como tú en Israel? ¿Cómo es, pues, que no has guardado a tu señor, el rey? Porque uno del pueblo ha venido a matar al rey, tu señor.

16 This is not well done of thee: as the Lord liueth, ye are worthy to dye, because ye haue not kept your master the Lordes Anointed: and now see where the Kings speare is, and the pot of water that was at his head.

No es bueno lo que has hecho. ¡Vive Yahvé!, que sin duda habéis merecido la muerte por no haber guardado a vuestro señor, el ungido de Yahvé. Ahora, pues, mira dónde está la lanza del rey y el jarro de agua que estaba junto a su cabecera.”

17 And Saul knewe Dauids voyce, and sayde, Is this thy voyce, my sonne Dauid? And Dauid sayde, It is my voyce, my lorde O King.

Conoció Saúl la voz de David y dijo: “¿Es esta tu voz, hijo mío, David?” Respondió David: “Es mi voz, oh rey y señor mío.”

18 And he sayde, Wherefore doeth my lorde thus persecute his seruant? for what haue I done? or what euill is in mine hand?

Y siguió diciendo: “¿Por qué persigue mi señor a su siervo? Pues, ¿qué he hecho, o qué mal ha cometido mi mano?

19 Now therefore, I beseech thee, let my lord the King heare the wordes of his seruant. If the Lord haue stirred thee vp against me, let him smell the sauour of a sacrifice: but if the children of men haue done it, cursed be they before the Lord: for they haue cast me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the Lord, saying, Goe, serue other gods.

Oiga ahora mi señor el rey las palabras de su siervo. Si es Yahvé quien te ha incitado contra mí, séale acepto el olor de (mi) sacrificio; pero si son hombres, ¡malditos sean delante de Yahvé! pues me han desterrado hoy, para que no tenga parte en la herencia de Yahvé, como si dijeran: ¡Vete y sirve a otros dioses!

20 Nowe therefore let not my blood fall to the earth before the face of the Lord: for the King of Israel is come out to seeke a flea, as one would hunt a partridge in the mountaines.

Ahora, pues, no caiga mi sangre a tierra ante la faz de Yahvé. El rey de Israel ha salido a buscar una pulga; como quien va tras una perdiz en las montañas.”

21 Then sayde Saul, I haue sinned: come againe, my sonne Dauid: for I will doe thee no more harme, because my soule was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I haue done foolishly, and haue erred exceedingly.

Entonces dijo Saúl: “He pecado. Vuelve, hijo mío, David; que no te haré ya mal, por cuanto mi vida ha sido hoy preciosa a tus ojos. Mira, he obrado locamente y he cometido un gran error.”

22 Then Dauid answered, and saide, Beholde the Kings speare, let one of the yong men come ouer and set it.

David respondió y dijo: “Aquí está la lanza del rey; pase uno de los mozos a buscarla.

23 And let the Lord rewarde euery man according to his righteousnesse and faithfulnesse: for the Lord had deliuered thee into mine handes this day, but I woulde not lay mine hand vpon the Lords anointed.

Yahvé recompensará a cada uno según su justicia y su fidelidad. Yahvé te ha puesto hoy en mi mano, pero yo no quise alzar mi mano contra el ungido de Yahvé;

24 And beholde, like as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes: so let my life be set by in the eyes of the Lord, that he may deliuer me out of all tribulation.

y, he aquí, como ha sido hoy preciosa tu vida a mis ojos, así sea preciosa mi vida a los ojos de Yahvé; y Él me libre de toda angustia.”

25 Then Saul said to Dauid, Blessed art thou, my sonne Dauid: for thou shalt doe great things, and also preuaile. So Dauid went his way, and Saul returned to his place.

Tras esto dijo Saúl a David: “¡Bendito seas, hijo mío, David! Sin duda ejecutarás cosas grandes y prevalecerás.” Con esto David se fue por su camino, y Saúl se volvió a su lugar.
